Thank you. ### 5/5 — Great home maintenance app *2024-02-14* Dobby is more than a home maintenance app, it’s a community of experts that can help you with almost anything you need for your house. I’ve been using Dobby for over a year now and I’ve been impressed. I’ve been impressed with those that operate the app who are responsive to homeowner concerns and questions, and I’m impressed at the quality of the people they have in their system. To date I haven’t had any issues with any of the things we’ve needed done on our house. The prices that the contractors charge are pretty fair and dobby doesn’t slap you with a crazy high % for using their services. Additionally, the admins at dobby will be honest and if there’s nobody in their system designed to handle the project you want, they’ll let you know. That doesn’t happen often, but they won’t just send some guy to do work they aren’t trained or knowledgeable in. The app is easy to use and they continue to update it with new services and abilities. The only thing that I would like to see integrated would be the ability for multiple contractors to provide estimates on your project, if it’s a big project. That way we don’t need to ask for multiple quotes, it’s something we could select in the project submitting process. Since the pros have lower overhead than with a big company (all those customer service reps and fancy trucks and websites to pay for!) they can charge a fairer price. Usually there’s a lot of back-and-forth with negotiation. You’re not sure what kind of work the person will do. Dobby helps kind of cut all of that out and you pretty much know what you’re going to pay upfront and all the service workers have been been pretty good. Dishonest and corrupt *2024-09-14, version 2.6.4* They rely on the mis-classification of contractors and avoid labor laws by doing so. Very misleading and dishonest just like Task Rabbit, Thumbtack , DoorDash, Turo, Lyft etc. they exploit and mislead the 1099 contractors that work for them. When I asked about the TOS they promptly deleted my account. Do not get in bed with these scammers! They treat contractors like employees and pay them like independents ### 1/5 — App is broken *2023-04-05, version 2.2.3* It worked well at first, but for the last several months the app won’t let me access it. Each time it says I have to verify, so I enter my phone number and it send a code, I enter the code, and then it opens and tells me I have to verify again. Constant circle. Emailed their customer service 5 times with no response. Shame, they used to be much better. ### 1/5 — Getting spammed after creating a Dobby account *2023-02-21, version 2.2.1* After I created an account on this app, I began to get called by all types of companies in the area spamming me asking if they could help with window and roof work when I never mentioned a need for any work at all. ### 1/5 — Not great *2022-11-17, version 2.1.9* The Dobby app itself is tasteful and very user friendly, however the contractor sent to my home (flooring) was subpar. Consumer beware: when you put a request through the app and they do not have a vendor for it, they keep you waiting (days) and send someone out with minimal experience, but write a decent sounding bio for the “pro”. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2022-11-13, version 2.1.9* App didn’t work - kept asking for my phone number and wouldn’t move past the verification. Not ready for prime time - send for the developers! ### 2/5 — Very fast, but not transparent or super helpful *2023-08-25* I had an ok experience with one rep, but I was able to find multiple much better referrals from friends and neighbors. If it were a service I couldn’t find from friends or neighbors or if I were new to an area and didn’t know who to ask yet I think this would be great. The one thing I really didn’t like though was that it connected me to the fastest responding person, rather than giving me options with reviews. I did not like having the app choose for me. More importantly since I decided this wasn’t for me I want to delete my PII data from their system and delete my account, and I can’t find ANY documentation to figure out how to do that. Your 2-star rating and detailed review was equally delightful. Thanks to you, we have updated our marketing messages to connect to the right homeowners (we are not everything for everyone, like any great product), we have added an easy-to-delete option in the app and highlighted that on the AppStore, and we have added a lot of onboarding upfront, even before sign up - so homeowners can self-select themselves (time saving homeowners who do not want to do the vetting themselves and want Dobby as a mediator to manage everything end to end). And we are sorry that your experience was not so great with our pros in these two jobs. We have an invite-only community of pros and we are continuously making it better and better (by targeting the right folks and by curating them via data-driven and review-driven metrics). But sometimes we fail (less than 2% cases) - but always make it right as soon as homeowners reach out to us (which is literally a tap). They charge 3% service fee… for a referral. No reminders to pay until I received an email at 1030pm from the COO (on a MLK holiday): “Can you please submit that payment today? Dobby makes it so easy to get quotes with just a few clicks, and scheduling and communication is a breeze. Every contractor they’ve sent has been great in terms of getting the job done at a reasonable cost.
