The DOC (Direct your Own Care) Journey is an educational and experiential app that will teach you how to overcome chronic pain. Chronic pain is experienced when one’s body is under a sustained state of mental or physical threat. The stress chemistry causes elevated fuel consumption (metabolism) and inflammation. There is no visual. I believe a repair is needed to the app. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all *2025-07-07* I have downloaded the app on my iPad and my iPhone and Ali can hear the audio but the text just says “ooops! We were unable to retrieve this page Please contact us if the issue persists. “ But even the app support button takes me nowhere. What a PAIN!” Useless and frustrating. Within each section there is no way to rewind without starting over completely. In addition, it shuts down when phone screen goes dark. Easy to navigate. The stepwise process of getting out of pain is so easily explained by Dr. Hanscom, which affirms he is the expert in pain recovery. The doc journey is your pocket pain reliever! What I like best about this app are the tools and strategies I can apply on a daily basis. Oh - and the narrator has a great voice and I truly like the bit size info and, again, the pain recovery practices to shift you from threat physiology (stress, pain, anxiety, etc) to safety physiology (calm, joyful, play, etc). I’m a pain psychologist and I highly recommend this app and to my patients. You tried everything and spent ridiculous amounts of money. This app is a fraction of all of that. Apps seem like a small tool but this one holds so much information and many tools presented in a very user friendly way. There are no keeping scores, having to add anything on a daily basis or entering tons of information. The DOC Journey only offers a variety of means for you to take control of your life instead of letting pain take control of you.
