### 5/5 — Awesome Program!

*2018-05-30*

I use this with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps contra line to work on pitch accuracy, intonation, and interval training and it works like a charm!

### 5/5 — Highly Recommend!

This new application on the iTunes Store is absolutely amazing! You can make your own drone sequences, and you can even transpose them with a click of a button! I highly recommend!

### 1/5 — No longer works via Bluetooth

*2018-06-28*

I believe a recent update has a bug that does not play well with Bluetooth speakers.

**Developer response:** Hi! Sorry for the annoying bug! Could you detail what it was like before and how it is now after the update? Is it sound quality, time delay, etc. I just got back from a (not so productive) practice session in my CRV and played along with some drones with my iPhone via Bluetooth and it seemed to be working fine. There's a few seconds delay, but that applies to any app sending audio to my Bluetooth speakers. Maybe you can send me a video of what's going on and I'll look into it. Feel free to contact me via our Facebook page. We want it to work for you!

Thanks!

Eddie

### 1/5 — Dr Drone

*2017-11-22, version 1.0*

App doesn't open on iPhone 5c 😠

### 4/5 — Organization

*2025-04-20*

Great app. Only thing it needs is more features.

The simplest one is organization. At the very least we should be able to have our presets saved in alphabetical order instead of a random order as it is now. The best option would be to let us drag presets around.

It would also be nice to be able to have a bigger variety of note values although I understand this will take time.

### 4/5 — Volume

*2025-04-19*

I just got the app this morning. I think it is going to be a great tool. It would be very useful to have a volume control to allow balancing level when using in combination with another app. It is too limiting to have to only use the volume control on the phone. Thanks

### 4/5 — This is

*2022-03-06*

Great for learning to hear and play in tune. It would be better, if I can change the length of the notes and chords on any given setup.

### 4/5 — Great app for tuning outside of a piece

*2021-11-30*

Super useful for practicing intonation in isolation. I unfortunately cannot find a way to set rhythms or at least different numbers of beats for each note or chord to create a drone that moves with you in context.

### 4/5 — Needs updating to be usable.

*2020-12-28, version 2.12*

Was fantastic

### 4/5 — Good, could be great

*2019-06-01*

Firstly, I really like this app.

If you added these features I would love it (and would use it much more):

1) show the new, transposed note names instead of the original notes when using the transpose function

2) add a switch in the startup section to open the last used tune instead of having to navigate through folders to reopen it.

3) allow background playback (when switching to other apps, or on screen-lock)

Otherwise, still a really nice tool. Thank you!

### 4/5 — Great app one big bug

*2018-11-02*

App does just about everything I want it to buy there is one big bug that really needs to be fixed. Every time my phone is interrupted by anything like a phone call or alarm, the drone will not start up again. I will click the start button and there will be no sound. I have to restart the app to make it work again. Really annoying for an app this good to have a terrible bug like this.

**Developer response:** Hi Skyler! Thanks for the generous review and valuable bug report. I'll get a fix up within a few weeks. Stay tuned for the next update.

### 5/5 — Organization

*2025-09-25*

Great app. Only thing it needs is more features.

It would be great to be able to highlight and loop sections or have markers that we can regularly start from in each file. That way if there's a specific spot that needs fixing we don't have to play the entire section or make a new section for that one spot.

I would love to see an option for a Pythagorean tuning option as well as being able to choose the key center. I'm not sure how accurate the just tuning is at the moment as the notes are tuned to the bass note instead of the key.

Better organizational features would be great. At the very least we should be able to have our presets saved in alphabetical order instead of a random order as it is now. The best option would be to let us drag presets around.

It would also be nice to be able to have a bigger variety of note values although I understand this will take time.

### 5/5 — Really useful and easy to use

*2024-12-08*

Great app!

This is practical and useful for ear training and singing exercises.

Is it possible to provide movable solfege labels both ascending and descending.

Thanks

Update Dec 2024.
Still a great app. Really useful to practice voice exercises, scales intervals across all keys.

Two items for wish list:
1. Can change flats to sharps - enharmonic. Example d major shows Gb instead of F#

2. A list of scales with octave short to start at any point on keyboard. Would like to hear and practice different keys.

Otherwise, still a fantastic app that I really like. One of the best I have purchased.

### 5/5 — Exceptional app

*2021-11-25*

This app is a wonder and essential for musician. Unlike a tuner with Dr. Drone you concentrate on the aural aspect ; not the visual. Dr. Drone has become an essential tool for my warm up routine - scales patterns, long tones, Well worth you time!

### 5/5 — Incredibly Helpful App

*2021-11-09*

This app is incredibly helpful for brass musicians. Now with just intonation. Great for warm up and practice drills.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the positive vibes, SF Horn!

### 5/5 — One of the best practice tools out there

*2021-10-02*

Thanks for the update… chords yay!

### 5/5 — Great !!

*2021-09-29*

Thanks. You really nailed it with your new version. Couldn’t be better…unless you maybe added a random tone generator. That could help align your mind with your instrument.

### 5/5 — Love this Drone App ! Many nice features!

*2019-09-01*

I use drones quite often - myself and in with students. While this drone does not produce wonderful, warm tones as some live sampled apps do, they are adequate and the app is very versatile....the sequencing section is a fantastic addition! One thing that I’d love to see added to sequencing features is the ability to play a series of drone notes harmonized diatonically (in addition to playing parallel perfect 5ths, Major thirds, etc). I’m not sure how much trouble that would be but it would make a very nice app much stronger! Overall, the app has been nice addition to the tools that I like to use! Glad that I found this one!

### 5/5 — Dr Drone

*2018-09-21*

Being able to program sequences of pitches and intervals makes this app much more helpful than a regular drone. Fantastic tool!

### 5/5 — Awesome practice tool!

*2018-06-12*

Best app on my phone! I play trumpet. Whenever I’m in my car I buzz different patterns on my lead pipe. Blue tooth my phone to the stereo and I can match pitches with the app. Takes seconds to write out simples two measure patterns and the app transposes them in time with a pause in between. Awesome!!
