I had a rescue that was given up after the family found out the problem with playing with a laser. When the dog was a puppy they thought it was cute the way he tried to get the laser. When he got older and dug through carpets every time he saw a shadow it was no longer cute. And once again the dog paid the price for the stupidity of the human. He got bounced around to families until they discovered his problem. I found a simple solution - close my drapes when I could not watch him.
