As far as I can tell, I have to re-create the boundary every time I want it in a different location. ### 4/5 — Great for tracking and e-fence. *2025-12-08, version 1.1.1* I love the system. It’s been roughly 3 months of use daily and the collar is doing everything I wanted it to do. My boy is very adventurous and excitable with animals and other dogs. He is extremely friendly and wants to say hello to everyone and everything. When I initially did research I saw the other brand gps collars but didn’t like the idea of paying monthly fees. Then I found the pathfinder 2 and it was more than I could ask for. As a training only collar, I would not choose it, though now with the compass remote that is coming out, I suspect it would be incredible. The app works well and as intended, the gps collar does take a few minutes to connect in cloudy skies but so does anything with gps so I kind of expected that. The efence works well though as others have mentioned it’s kind of difficult to redraw your maps or change boundaries easily, as you have to basically erase the existing map to make a new one. I have trained My dog to recall to the beep. He does not like the vibrate which is what happens at the first boundary, if he goes beyond that it will give him a correction. My only complaint: I should’ve waited a couple months for the compass but unfortunately I had no clue it was coming. Wish I had known ! Unfortunately it continues to disconnect while in use. I would recommend a battery indication on the phone app or watch app for both receiver and transmitter. Only seeing the battery on the receiver is misleading. One battery last longer when comparing the two. Also, would recommend vibrate with sound function. Noise output is relative quiet on collar when dog is running through vegetation. ### 3/5 — Working ok so far. *2025-11-18, version 1.0.20* Tracking seems fine, I just can’t understand why it takes so long for the dog icon to load up after it connects to collar. Been holding my dog back until it does. Sometimes it took as long as 15 minutes keeping him on a leash at the edge of a field. Also at 20 he barely acknowledges the shock but at 27 he sounds like I shot him with a taser. Works well so far, dog learnt within minutes and GPS seems accurate while outside. My only downside would be not being able to see on more than 1 device, even view only would be great. Upgraded to PF2, the quicker updates and longer battery life are better. The beep on the remote when out of radius is very annoying, my 2 GSP’s are starting to ignore the beep on their collar when pushed as they hear it for a period of time if I forget to clear out app and push button before leaving. The map isn’t updated and very blurry. I was extremely pleased with them until the update. ### 4/5 — Super *2025-10-01, version 1.0.19* Appli sur Apple Watch nécessite encore du développement ### 1/5 — Unreliable as a training/hunting product. *2025-09-29, version 1.0.19* On top of repeated hardware reliability issues, we’ve had issues with the app. The mapping is beautiful, but your location (the blue dot) is very slow to update and is often as far as 100 yards from your actual location. I can tell this because if you leave a marker where your truck is, the app will draw a dotted line from the truck to your actual location. Where this line ends is very precise, but the blue dot is rarely anywhere near this. The e-collar gives you graduations from 1-100, but must be very non linear. I worked hard with an experienced trainer to find an appropriate training level for my dog, but as you step through the levels there is always a harsh threshold between him not reacting at all and clearly having the crud shocked out of him. We did not have this problem with other collars we tried. And probably the worst is that the remote receiver you carry with you has a programable button that I like to set on “beep”. I’ve worked hard with positive reinforcement to train my dog to come to that beep. However, randomly, the software will reset this button to shock, and the only way I know is to see my dog jolt and stop when he is coming to call. Anyone who trains dogs knows what an utter disaster this is. And, generally speaking, the app layout is buggy and awkward, requiring the user to be looking at the app and not the dog during training. I hunt bear and Mt lion with 8 hounds. I’m constantly losing track of my dogs and have had to rely on my buddies Garmin collared dogs to find mine ( hunting together) on many occasions. It’s ridiculous how you have to use some 1990’s software and a pc just to download maps in remote places ( where everyone hunts). I wishhhh I bought Garmin. My biggest annoyance is the fact that the tone noise for your dogs and signal lost noise on your collar is the exact same sound. I can count a few hundred times that it starts beeping In my hand, calling any dogs in close vicinity close to me. Good way to tone dull a good dog. Out of every sound that can be made on earth, you chose the same sound for both remote and collars. As we used it more we found more issues. It would regularly drop signal, show the dog was in the completely wrong direction, then one day the collar just stopped sending a signal. We have had I hope for this system but it needs some serious software updates to improve efficiency and consistency. ### 1/5 — Buy Garmin *2026-05-06, version 1.1.2* Decent product ruined by the fact that the tone noise your hounds hear is the same exact noise the yellow remote emits when it loses signal. Which happened all the time. Even if your dogs are next to you, no big deal, but why why why would you make that sound the same sound you train dogs with? I wish I could strangle whoever thought that was a good idea. I have one request. It would be great if this app had an Apple widget that worked with it. My coonhound loves the freedom afforded to him because of my confidence in being able to track him. Can’t imagine being without my tracking system. ### 5/5 — This app is an absolute must with hounds. *2024-10-27, version 1.0.16* I have two bloodhounds and live on 120 acres surrounded by a few thousand, I have been able to train to bloodhounds, and let them be free a lot of the time off leash. with the gps i can see how far out my dogs are, recall them, have a fencing area and let them live their best lives possible. it’s fairly routine for me to see in the gps tracker my hounds have gone 7-8-9-15 miles in a loop and being able to recall them home is CRAZY TO ME. When the time to up grade came around, the Pathfinder 2 was released and time tested it enough for it to catch my attention. I have been running the regular sized collar and the mini for the past two months on my pack of Versatile gun dogs using tone and pager to communicate stop and recall. I have found more consistent behaviors with these cues in compared to the Garmin units. The Pathfinder 2 unit has made the transition between communication seem-less. Thank you Dogtra!
