A few nice-to-have features for more seasoned players would be: 1)that the events/landscape/ways/etc have their own reuse rule “when no other option” (it seems the default is “every time” for these) 2) there would be some way to retain favorites via export. If the app is uninstalled or you get a new device, all of one’s history of favorite games is lost. There’s an occasional bug with Plunder and Loot where it says the Loot pile is needed but no cards call for it within the generated game. I cannot consistently recreate the bug so I’m not sure what triggers it. Layout is great with reminders of the supplementary cards, mats, and tokens you need for that set. Also love the quick links to card faqs! This one tells us ALL the cards and extra items we need to play the randomized set for 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 players including extra setup instructions like how many favors or coffers to give everyone to start (where applicable) and which mats, tokens, and extra piles of non-supply cards to use. It allows you to use both 1st edition and 2nd edition cards where they exist, and promo cards. You choose however many sets you want and you can change out individual cards if you like. Furthermore, it has options for deciding how many landscape cards to use and how to decide whether to use platinums and colonies. Several other options exist including preferences for not repeating cards that have recently been selected in other set ups. Only one gripe: occasionally I need to close it and reopen it to get my new randomized set. (I currently use ios 17.3.1 on my iPad, but have had the problem on older versions as well.) Now that I have the update pack for guilds/cornucopia 2nd edition, I am looking forward to seeing this app support 2024 updates. This is the best randomizer. The only reason I rate it a four is if you use the plunder expansion, you can’t share the list. Which is a bummer since we usually generate the kingdom and let folks veto any cards. It makes it hard for everyone to see. I’m hoping for an update soon because this is seriously the best way to handle the expansions! ### 5/5 — Exactly what I need *2023-07-08, version 1.14.0* Easy to use, has all expansions (currently Plunder is most recent) ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Great Generator for Dominion Card Game *2025-05-11, version 1.16.0* The sharing option is broken on iOS and has been since 11 at least 11/2023. It generates and then the pop up comes up from the bottom which should have selections for the app used to share, but it’s blank. When I tried it back on 11/2023 I was using an iPhone 11 Pro and now I’m using an iPhone 16 Pro. Obviously iOS versions have changed. I’ve deleted DominGen, restarted my iPhone, cleared cache, reinstalled DominGen and have the same issue. Sharing works on macOS. That would be from if what is shared on one could be open on DominGen on iOS, but the only thing the shared link does is open in a web browser. It would also be nice if there was an option for sorting that showed the expansion names like cost for those of us that don’t know them by the expansion symbol. This shouldn’t replace the current sort by expansion as I’m sure many like it. ### 1/5 — Sharing is broken *2024-12-14, version 1.16.0* Cannot share. I have a family member with disabilities who could really benefit from a feature like this ### 2/5 — Cannot share Kingdoms *2024-04-17, version 1.15.0* The “Share” feature no longer works. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. UPDATE: I installed the latest version and still cannot share my created kingdoms, regardless of which expansions are selected. I get a blank share page if Plunder is not selected and a message “sorry, there was an error sharing your playset” message if it is included. iPhone 11Pro with latest iOS update. 17.4.1 If developer could provide email or support site I would be happy to help debug. ### 2/5 — Doesn’t keep faves *2022-01-15, version 1.12.0* This is a fairly good Dominion randomizer, but the main reason I have the app is to remember my favorite card sets. I’ll put in my favorites, only to find them all deleted the next time I open the app. Frustrating!!! I tried sharing my faves to a list on my phone as a work around, with a link to the dominion gen web page, but now the link just says “get the app”. Well, that would be fine if the app actually remembered my faves. ### 2/5 — Needs more options *2019-11-19, version 1.8.0* There used to be a randomizer in the App Store that gave you the option to force certain cards to appear in your random set, such as cards that give you additional buys or additional actions. That significantly improved the quality of the set in a given game. Purely random is more likely to produce sets where simply buying treasure cards is the dominant strategy. That’s always been a problem with dominion, and I would love this app if it added those options. As is, it’s the best option, but it could be so much better. ### 3/5 — No support for a new extension *2025-01-01, version 1.16.0* We love the app for most of the extensions, however it doesn’t support Intrigue second edition ### 3/5 — Needs a little extra for Divine Wind *2024-10-30, version 1.16.0* When activated, Divine Wind requires a reselection of Kingdom cards. It would be helpful to implement this feature in the app. BTW, I have seen it implemented in an Android app 😓. ### 3/5 — Good, but occasionally freezes with certain set combinations *2024-01-13, version 1.14.0* I don’t know why this is, but on my iPhone 13 mini with iOS 17.2.1, certain combinations of sets like Nocturne and Hinterlands 2e will cause the app to freeze when I tap the randomize button. Revisited *2023-01-22, version 1.14.0* Allies still has cost errors!! Contract is listed as a cost of 2, but should be 5. Innkeeper is listed as a cost of 2, but should be 4. I was advised this would be fixed in the release including all ‘Plunder’, but it didn’t make it into that version. Also, no wsy to contact author except by writing reviews. However, I ran into my first problem today. I recently got the 2nd edition update pack for prosperity. I tried to set up a game with it for the first time today. It froze the app. I tried several times. If this little glitch could be fixed that would make me very happy! The in app wiki interface broke at some point in recent months… the wiki overlay is messed up and covers up the in app text when you go into the wiki via the scroll icon. However recently it seems like the in-app wiki viewer is broken, with the sidebar seemingly superimposed on the main content. I hope this can be fixed soon, it was a useful feature. Also, this does not impact the randomization feature at all, but it is worth considering updating all cards to their current versions. Some cards have the old text/layouts, and many of them have since been modified via errata and whatnot. Finally, it would be nice to update the in-game token counter with Favors!
