## What is Don?

The AI personal finance app that connects to your bank accounts, tracks spending automatically, and answers money questions in plain English. A modern Mint alternative for iPhone built around AI, not spreadsheets.

Ask "Am I on track this month?" and Don tells you. Ask "What are my biggest recurring charges?" and Don shows you. No dashboards to navigate. Just ask.

CONVERSATIONAL AI FINANCE
Don Chat is powered by Claude AI with 46 financial tools — it reads your real transactions and answers in plain language. "How much did I spend on food last month?" gets a real answer, not a redirect to a chart.

AI TRANSACTION TAGGING — CATEGORIZATION THAT ACTUALLY STICKS
Correct a transaction category once. Don creates a rule so that merchant is always categorized correctly from that point forward. Amazon is Amazon. Forever. No more re-categorizing the same store every week.

CONNECT 11,000+ BANKS
Checking, savings, credit cards, and investment accounts — all in one place via Plaid. The same bank sync technology that powered Mint.

CASH FLOW YEAR-OVER-YEAR
See your income vs. spending month by month, with last year's numbers side by side. Finally understand whether things are actually getting better.

GOALS WITH XP, STREAKS, AND LEVELS
Set savings and spending goals, earn XP, build streaks, level up. Budgeting that works like Duolingo, not like a spreadsheet. Difficulty tiers so easy wins build momentum.

NET WORTH TRACKING
Every account in one number. Watch it grow with a historical chart that shows the trend over time.

AUTOPAY TRACKER
Don detects your recurring charges and surfaces them before they hit, so you're never blindsided by a subscription you forgot about.

DAILY AI BRIEFING
Every time you open Don, you see what matters: upcoming bills, spending anomalies, and whether you're on track — without having to ask.

SPENDING LIMITS (NOT BUDGETS)
Set monthly limits by category with live progress bars. Check in without shame. Adjust without drama.

PRICING
30-day free trial — no credit card required to start.
$6.99/month or $59.99/year after trial.
$40/year cheaper than Monarch ($99.99/yr). $50/year cheaper than YNAB ($109/yr).

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.4 — 2026-08-20

Getting started is faster, and you no longer need a bank to begin.

Setup is four quick screens instead of a conversation. Tell Don what to keep an eye on, see what it does with a sample month, and start your free trial — the whole thing takes under a minute, and you can go back a step at any point.

Bring your money in whichever way suits you.

Connect a bank as before, or import a CSV from Copilot, Mint, Monarch, or your own bank — Don recognises the common formats and asks which column is which when it doesn't. You can also hand it a PDF statement and it reads the transactions off the page, or photograph a stack of receipts and check them over as a list before anything is saved.

Receipt scanning now handles more than one at a time.

Pick up to ten photos and Don reads them in turn, showing progress as it goes. Every transaction it finds is yours to keep or drop before it's written, and anything it tagged for you says so, so you know what's worth a second look.

Also in this release: several fixes to subscriptions and restoring purchases, a home screen widget that stays up to date on its own, and a keyboard that closes when you ask it to.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-08-14

Pending transactions now look pending. The amount is dimmed and marked, so you can tell at a glance which figures might still move before they settle.

Money coming in is marked with a +, rather than being distinguished only by a shade of grey.

The monthly spending card has been rebuilt so every figure says what it covers. You get what you've spent against your budget, what the month is projected to land at and how far that is over or under, and how your daily pace compares to the pace that would land you on budget. It also tells you when you're trending over, instead of waiting until you already are.

Also fixed: the keyboard no longer appears over the loading screen.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-08-12

Autopay now handles bills that change every month.

Set a range — a low and a high — instead of one fixed amount, and Don links the charge wherever it lands inside it. Tap "Use my history" and Don fills the range from what that bill has actually charged you.

Before this, a bill entered at a fixed amount only matched charges within 10% of it. Utilities, water and phone bills move far more than that, so they often didn't link at all.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-11

• Safe to Spend widget now works on home and lock screen
• Clearer sign-in with loading progress
• Autopay charges stay in the right category

### 1.4.0 — 2026-08-09
