Can I rent more than one bike at once?
Yes, you can rent up to 5 bikes at once! Just make sure to select the correct number of vehicles right at the beginning of your booking process.

Can I leave the bike anywhere?
No. We work hard with the cities to keep the streets clean and accessible for everyone. Please return your Donkeys to specific drop-off locations when you are done for the day.

What if I have issues?
Our support team is always happy to help and understands that life happens.


HOW PRICING WORKS

Just Ride (Pay as you go)
With no strings attached. Just Ride is ideal for trips from 15 mins to a few hours. You can also top up your Donkey Wallet with money and we will give you bonus credit that you can use for Just Riding.

Day Deals
In some cities, we have rolled out day deals which are great for when you just need a bike for the 1,2,3, or up to 7 days. Visiting for a weekend or inspired to explore like a local when you're on vacation? This is the perfect solution for you or a guest visiting you. 

Monthly memberships
With a Donkey membership, you pay a fixed monthly fee and get a certain amount of free time per day. If you exceed the included daily free time, your rental is extended for a low fixed cost. Ideal for the daily commute and for a busy city life with multiple errands throughout the day. Valid in all Donkey cities.

Donkey bikes seem to be consistently reliable, lots of available, for the most part, the bike seems to be functioning well and maintained. Prompt attentive and really good customer service! Answer the phone right away, and they were very pleasant and resolved a technical glitch very quickly. Thank you!!

Terrible app. Wouldn’t accept my number on cellular, finally accepted it later on WiFi, but would not send a verification code. Boiling in the sun just trying to ride a bike. So bad.

They don’t tell you about obscure drop off locations before renting. When you get to your destination you then must go to a far away location to park the bike. It defeats the purpose of bike share.

Bisher hatte ich keine Probleme bei der Nutzung von DonkeyRepublic. Die Fahrräder waren in einem guten Zustand und das Ausleihen und Abgeben war einfach. Bei meiner letzten Fahrt wurde ich jedoch enttäuscht. Ich wollte mein Fahrrad an einer Abgabestelle abgeben, an der ich in der Vergangenheit bereits alle meine Fahrten beendet hatte und an der schon zwei DonkeyRepublic-Räder standen. Vor Fahrtantritt war diese Stelle in der App auch als offizielle Abgabestelle ausgewiesen, ebenso auf der Website. Doch ich erhielt eine Warnung von der App, dass dies kein offizieller Abgabeort sei und der nächstgelegene Abgabeort war ein 10km weit entfernter Platz, weiter noch als mein Startpunkt. Ich hielt es für einen Fehler der App und stellte mein Fahrrad trotzdem ab, denn wieso sollte ich das Fahrrad 10km zurückfahren und dann zu Fuß nach Hause gehen? Nach ein paar Tagen wurde dann ein 15€ „Relocation Fee“ von meinem Konto abgebucht. Als ich mich mit dem Support in Verbindung setzte und die Situation erklärte, wurde mir nicht geholfen. Nach einiger Recherche fand ich heraus, dass die App automatisch Abgabestellen schließt, wenn dort schon zu viele Fahrräder stehen. Das heißt, wenn du eine Fahrt beginnst, kann es sein, dass unterwegs dein Ziel-Abgabeort geschlossen werden kann. Dies wird in der App nicht deutlich kommuniziert und ist obendrein undurchdacht und nicht nutzerfreundlich. Da müssen die Use-Cases der Nutzer besser nochmal überarbeitet werden. Ich werde dieses Angebot nicht mehr nutzen, obwohl ich am Anfang noch so überzeugt davon war.

**Developer response:** Ich kann Ihren Ärger vollkommen verstehen und nachvollziehen, dass eine plötzliche Gebühr von 15 € an einem Ihnen vertrauten Ort unfair wirkt und sich wie eine reine Willkür des Systems anfühlt.
Um Ihnen ein wenig Hintergrundwissen zu geben, warum so etwas passiert: Unsere Stationen (Hubs) haben strenge Kapazitätsgrenzen, die auf städtischen Vorschriften und Vereinbarungen mit den Anwohnern basieren. Die Städte verpflichten uns dazu, dafür zu sorgen, dass öffentliche Fahrradständer nicht komplett überlastet oder blockiert werden, damit die Straßen für alle aufgeräumt und passierbar bleiben. Wenn eine Station ihre maximale Kapazität erreicht, schließt die App diese automatisch, um eine Überfüllung zu verhindern.
Allerdings passt die Sache mit den 10 km Entfernung nicht ganz zu der Art und Weise, wie unser System eigentlich aufgebaut ist. In unseren aktiven Geschäftsgebieten liegen die Stationen in der Regel so nah beieinander, dass die nächste freie Alternative meist nur einen kurzen Fußweg oder ein paar Häuserblöcke entfernt ist, falls eine Station mal voll sein sollte.
Eine Entfernung von 10 km deutet stark darauf hin, dass hier etwas anderes passiert ist – zum Beispiel, dass ein Nutzer versehentlich ein Fahrrad aus einem bestimmten Geschäftsgebiet oder einer Stadt ausgeliehen hat und damit über die Grenze in eine ganz andere Gemeinde gefahren ist (wie beispielsweise von Den Haag nach Katwijk), in der dieses spezifische Fahrrad oder System gar nicht hingehört.
Da Sie bisher so gute Erfahrungen mit uns gemacht haben, möchten wir uns die genauen Details Ihrer Fahrt unbedingt noch einmal ansehen, um zu prüfen, was schiefgelaufen ist. Könnten Sie sich bitte noch einmal mit Ihren Kontodaten, dem genauen Datum und den Standorten Ihrer Fahrt an unser Support-Team wenden? Wir würden den Fall gerne noch einmal prüfen, um eine faire Lösung für Sie zu finden.
