This has been an ongoing problem for weeks now, very surprised it hasn’t been fixed. ### 1/5 — Impossible for me to access *2025-04-23, version 1.0* I spent about 30 minutes trying to access this app and I still haven’t succeeded. After not accepting my password that worked on the web version, forcing me to create a new password, this app asked me to verify the code it sent to my cell phone. Except it didn’t send to my cell phone, it sent to the landline at my parents’ house that I used when I registered for NYBC in high school. I’ve tried changing this multiple times and can’t. I can’t even seem to update my phone number on the web portal. There’s no alternate verification method provided, not even email. Feeling super defeated. All I want to do is donate blood and check on my past donations. It shouldn’t be this hard, and I’m giving up. ### 2/5 — Terrible user experience if you are blind and use a screen reader. *2025-04-22* Most of the controls are not properly identified. I could not use the map to pick my location, though I suspect it got it right. The interface feels strange. I hope someday, this application is as welcoming and accessible as the physical locations where I donate. I love this organization, but wish it had taken more time to make this app welcoming to people who are blind. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback and for raising such an important point. We recognize that the current version of our app does not yet provide full support for screen readers, and we truly understand how vital accessibility is for all users. This release is our MVP (Minimum Viable Product), built to validate core functionality. While accessibility is a top priority, implementing it in a meaningful, scalable way takes time. We're carefully laying the groundwork to ensure long term support, which includes structural updates to our backend for UI, improved compatibility with assistive technologies, and alignment with WCAG 2.1 standards. These enhancements will be rolled out across future releases. We deeply appreciate your input. It definitely plays a key role in shaping a more inclusive product for everyone. The other obsolete app works just fine and allows me to login. But not donor Plus. I recently used the American Red Cross app and found that experience to be very rewarding but not NYBC. This app is the only thing that disappoints me about NYBC- everything else and everyone else is just lovely. ### 1/5 — Cannot schedule a donation date and time *2025-12-30* Tried to schedule a domination date and time and no matter how I enter my choice it defaults to slot not available even though it listed the slot as available. ### 1/5 — Wish THIS was as user friendly as the Blood Donor app! *2025-12-29* Marc in support was great regarding my new user name. I can’t reset my password since I don’t get the code! The most annoying app I have ever used. I give up. ### 1/5 — No App support *2025-10-05* I am very frustrated as I can’t log into the app. I retrieved my username which wasn’t accepted by the app. I can’t find how to login into the website to change my password which also wasn’t accepted. Please will someone tell me how to get app support . It would be nice to speak to a human. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2025-09-29* I am an avid and loyal platelet donor but this app is making me want to stop donating. I cannot set appointments with it because it will not accept my password. When I tap to reset my password it sends a message stating that they’ve sent an email to reset. I NEVER received an email. I hate dealing with this app! ### 1/5 — Awful *2025-08-06* Supposedly can use the same credentials as the web, but in my case doesn’t work, it fails every time with a message to review the information I entered. The web site no problem ### 1/5 — Hot garbage *2025-07-28* If you are concerned about the security of your personal information, consider just calling the blood center for an appointment. The username restriction of 8-15 characters is unnecessary. The password restrictions facilities a TMTO attack. While I don’t want to get into specifics on the password vulnerabilities, I’m very surprised they aren’t required to support FIDO from HIPAA concerns (§164.306(2)). ### 1/5 — Same problem others are having *2025-06-06, version 1.2* Installed the app, signed in with my MBC login credentials, got the notification that to verify my identity I had to enter the code from an SMS text, told it to send the text - and nothing showed up. So I can’t log in. A similar problem exists on the website but there the text usually comes through - just after 4 or 5 minutes. ### 1/5 — New app fail *2025-05-17, version 1.1* Being a frequent donor (16gal) I still use the old app which is being phased out. New app will not let me sign in with my user & pass. Have deleted and reloaded. Sends me a 6 digit code then says unable to verify & to contact NYBC. It tells you there are no slots available when there are many. That stuff is on the old app and of course the website. So for a new and updated app, it should be there too.
