This is a basic side scrolling, "Run N Gun" stick shooter. Play the tutorial, if you don't like the controls, exit the level and change in options. Brings back plenty of memories *2024-05-29, version 4.0.0* Hey guys, this game is a gem. It’s a simple but fun game to play whenever you want to kill time or just have some fun. I remember playing this and spending countless hours on Doodle Army 2 Mini Militia years ago. Still remember it staying in the top 25 for a long time after launch. Play tested some Mini Militia updates before it went live in the App Store way back when. Spoke with the dev a few times before, nice guy. Anyways, I know this doesn’t pertain specifically to this app but so glad to see that is Chad Towns back and brought life to the OG Doodle Army. Noticed Mini Militia Classic being shown as a joinable beta, which I’ll happily join/set up soon. Brings back so many good memories. The only reason I downloaded it was because I wanted to play the zombies mode, but to get to this impossible to reach part of the game, you have to complete at least 500m of each course. The gameplay was boring and repetitive as you automatically get all weapons and only unlock things once every 150m or so and even then it's just skins for characters. The same people and places are seen everywhere making you think you've gone insane. I ended up giving up on this game and won't be picking it up again any time soon. Not worth the 99 cents I paid for it. The only possible reason I could understand people liking this so much was the simplistic gameplay and the misleading and over rated reviews. Even if you could get past all of these faults the controls are excruciatingly painful to use from the moment you pick up the game. There are so many unnecessary features and obstacles which don't add to the game at all, such as the tires. The weapons in this game are also all the same. It's all pretty much 3 different weapons that look different and fire slightly slower or faster. It wasn't fun whatsoever and not only that, changing between weapons was frustrating and difficult. A game such as Age of Zombies, although not within the same style, is a good example of Gunplay which works and is a lot more enjoyable than the gunplay in this game. The developers' time would have been better spent putting more time into what could have been a very promising game. Although this may seem like a negative review, there were no redeeming features to this game to be found. This game from the moment you began playing became more like a chore than a game. I couldn't play for more than 15 minutes before getting a headache. Hopefully the developers can put the time necessary into making this game what could potentially be an enjoyable game. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Nostalgic but bugged *2026-07-05, version 4.0.0* I remember this game fondly and had been looking for it forever to come back to IOS. Downloaded it and booted it up and tried out my favorite boss battle mission (pacific war) and was able to get through with no problem untill the second bomber spawns in. For some reason the bomber moves so far up the screen you aren’t able to destroy the top turret to down the aircraft and move to the next. Other than that I have no idea what else is bugged on the mission since I’m never able to get past the second bomber.
