Pick "2 Players" and "Face to face" and the far player's sign turns to face them, with their own king on it — so a child who can't read yet can still see when it's their move. It says "Check!" when it matters. • The board no longer spins around mid-game. It used to turn upside-down on the dark player's turn, which put their own pieces on the far side of the board from where they were sitting. The board now stays exactly where it is — your pieces always start on the edge nearest you. • Optional: turn the dark pieces to face your partner. A new switch under the seating button, off by default. Some people like their army facing them the way a real chess set does; others find upside-down pieces harder to recognise. Your call. • The player who lost is no longer told they won. Sitting side by side — the usual way on a phone — the finish card now names the winner instead of saying "You win!" to both of you. • Chess fits sideways, and at big text sizes. Turning the phone used to squeeze the board until it could disappear if you use larger text. Each player's turn sign now sits beside the board instead of above and below it, so the board keeps its full height. • The seating and piece-turning choices can be reached at any text size. At the largest settings the little chooser ran off the edge of the screen, so "Computer" and the new switch couldn't be tapped at all. • Chess now calls each side by the colours you can actually see — "Coral" and "Teal" for the clay pieces — instead of "White" and "Black". VoiceOver says the same. • Your device keeps its daily free-AI allowance across a reinstall instead of quietly starting over ### 1.1.7 — 2026-08-08 • "Draw your photo" now makes a real outline. Scratchy, broken lines are gone — photos become bold, clean, traceable drawings that follow your actual photo. • New "My outlines" shelf on the home screen: every blank outline you've made is one tap from Trace, Color, Puzzle or Doodle. ### 1.1.3 — 2026-08-01 Coloring fixes, and a clearer "Start over". • Brush strokes work again on caricature coloring pages. Sliding up or down used to leave nothing behind — only sideways strokes stuck. Now every stroke paints, whichever way you draw. • The paint bucket stays where you put it. AI-made outlines sometimes have tiny breaks, and color used to pour straight through and flood the whole page. Fills now stop at the lines — and if a shape really is open, we say so and point you to the Brush instead of wrecking the picture. • Your dark crayons stay crayons. Strokes in Ink, Grape, Ocean or Cocoa could come back as black lines you couldn't paint over or erase the next time you opened a picture. Fixed. • "Start over" is the same everywhere. In Color, Doodle and Mandala it now looks identical and says what it does, so it's never mistaken for undo. ### 1.1.1 — 2026-07-22 This is our biggest update yet — learning, chess, and a lot more drawing. Trace & Learn — a whole new way to learn letters and numbers! Trace A–Z and 0–9 with a friendly guiding dot, hear each letter spoken aloud, and celebrate with a picture and word ("A for Apple!"). Finish a letter and doodle its matching drawing — 26 new Letter Friends templates included. Parents: choose how many times each letter is practiced (2, 3, or 5) right in the letter style settings. Chess, your way — pick your pieces: soft clay armies, classic pieces, or draw your own army! Sketch all six pieces (copy the clay ones or invent an animal kingdom), and watch your drawings battle it out — your side plays them exactly as you drew them. Then share your board as a keepsake card, straight from the win screen. More of YOUR art in the games — draw your own Tic-Tac-Toe marks and Connect 4 discs, and now color everything in with the new fill bucket. Every drawing shows up bright and true on every board. Puzzles, leveled up — choose Easy, Medium, or Hard on every jigsaw, and turn your own saved drawings into puzzles! Snakes & Ladders doodle squares — land on a paintbrush square, draw the prompt in 20 seconds, and earn a bonus hop if your opponent loves it.
