### 4/5 — It’s good

*2026-04-20, version 1.1.6*

The only complaint is that to actually play well with touch controls, because you have to play claw in order to play optimally. Claw is fine for a little bit, but your hands will start to cramp up after a little bit. To avoid this, you can just use a controller, which still doesn’t excuse the poor optimization for touchscreen controls. In summary, it’s DOOM 2 with somewhat bad controls.

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2025-07-26, version 1.1.6*

It runs far too quickly which makes controlling it using the on-screen controls very difficult. My iPad is practically a laptop these days, with a mouse and keyboard linked to it - so why on earth is there no way to map (or even any predefined control) to shoot the weapon! You can move using wasd, yet no button on the keyboard lets you shoot!! C’mon id, Bethesda - add keyboard and mouse support!

### 4/5 — Excellent with a controller.

*2025-06-20, version 1.1.6*

This is a great experience with a controller. It’s the full classic Doom II experience with the added bonus of Final Doom AND curated custom level sets from the community (if you sign into your Bethesda account.) I have to take one star off for horrid touch controls and the fact that it isn’t bundled with the first Doom even though every other version on other platforms is. For $5 each though you get two of the best games ever made and hours of bonus content.

### 2/5 — it’s doom 2 with very bad mobile controls

*2025-05-25, version 1.1.6*

This just makes me wish there were iPhone source ports

### 2/5 — Controls

*2025-05-01, version 1.1.6*

Bro like what the heck? I paid 5 bucks for this port and I can’t even map the buttons to my liking like I can on the switch and PS4, it’s 2025 what is your deal Bethesda? Not worth 5 bucks l, I feel ripped off and want my money back.

### 5/5 — Use a controller! (Ps4 or xbox One)

*2025-03-06, version 1.1.6*

You can hook up a ps4 controller to your iPad. Otherwise its very hard to do things, including sprints that are necessary to pass certain levels. The controller actually makes it WAY easier than traditional PC gaming. Once you do that its excellent. I noticed one bug on map 7 where shots go through the wall, thats just part of doom though.

### 5/5 — Classic Doom II Experience, But Needs Modern Updates

*2025-01-22*

The Doom II iPhone app delivers fantastic gameplay that captures the essence of the original classic. The controls are well-designed, and the experience is nostalgic and thrilling for fans of retro gaming. However, it’s disappointing to see that the app hasn’t been updated in over four years, leaving it feeling slightly outdated.

Additionally, there’s a minor but frustrating issue with closing the app—it can be tricky and unresponsive at times, which interrupts an otherwise smooth gaming experience.

Overall, the gameplay is a solid 5/5, but the lack of updates and usability hiccups bring the overall experience down to a 4/5. It’s a must-have for fans, but it could really benefit from some modern improvements.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2025-01-06, version 1.1.6*

Best game ever, doing the whole game right now and on Level 14: The Inmost Dens. Hurt Me Plenty is a hard difficulty for me 😂 Just remember: If you download this game and play normally, remember to save your game at certain parts just like I did. If you die, you can go back right to your last save! Amazing! 5/5 🫶 If you ever have £5/$5, buy this game!

### 4/5 — Controls

*2024-12-29, version 1.1.6*

I love this game, always have, but the new controls are harder, the smaller shoot button makes it harder to actually shoot the gun. I miss the old controls honestly, can you make it where you can switch between them at least?

### 3/5 — No Update?

*2024-10-13, version 1.1.6*

The new official expansion came out on Steam weeks ago. Legacy of Rust. Hope to change to 5 stars eventually.

### 4/5 — 👍 good port

*2024-09-29, version 1.1.6*

It’s a good port, beaten it all then way through. the only problem is how small the controls are, and how fast the imps fire their fireballs.

### 5/5 — Great game

*2024-08-23, version 1.1.6*

Rad game definitely download worth the money

### 3/5 — Need to be able to move controls around on touch but can’t.

*2024-07-15, version 1.1.6*

Using touch controls is tough on an iPad. I’d like to be able to use the claw method (using fingers at top of screen to shoot etc) but there’s no way to move the touch controls in the settings. PUBG mobile does this brilliantly. Previously I used a controller and it worked flawlessly and was great. 5/5 with controller, great port of a great game.

### 5/5 — New mod

*2024-07-15, version 1.1.6*

They should put a new mods to make it more fun

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No audio

*2026-05-20, version 1.1.6*

Please give me audiooo

### 1/5 — Ios 26

*2025-09-19*

Ruckelt seit dem Update kontinuierlich, was das Spiel nur sehr begrenzt spielbar macht

### 1/5 — No Control Options

*2025-08-20, version 1.1.6*

Theres no room to customize controls. They also charge you 5 dollars and dont give you any of the expansions right off the bat. The controls are so small that sometimes im moving and aiming and miss the fire button and get myself killed using the chainsaw or brass knuckles. This game is a mess. If you want to play on your phone youd have a better chance streaming off your pc or emulating other versions.

### 1/5 — Unplayable without controller

*2025-06-30, version 1.1.6*

Exactly what the title says. Spent money on these just to get an unplayable version of Doom and Doom 2 due to awful touch controls. Should at least warn you before you buy.

### 1/5 — un uncontrollable vs doom3 ...., back on my ipad 4 to play doom III, why not keeping working

*2024-11-07, version 1.1.6*

00000

### 1/5 — What the heck?

*2024-09-30, version 1.1.6*

The buttons are too small. This is why FPS games do not belong on phones. They usually look like garbage and play like garbage too.

### 1/5 — Controls are really bad

*2024-04-17, version 1.1.6*

The frustration is not worth the money

### 1/5 — Sadly altered to include bad stuff

*2023-12-16, version 1.1.6*

I just wanted to play a fun nostalgic game from back in the day. It has a lot of satanic stuff

### 1/5 — Needs screen layout options

*2023-04-30, version 1.1.6*

Worthless game. Terrible control. No option to increase or decrease fire “button” or open-door “button” size. No option to move buttons around on screen. Turning on run all the time turns it off. Because i can’t increase fire button size I miss pressing it often, resulting in getting pelted by enemies that should end up dead. Why do I miss the fire button? Because I have to use my right thumb to turn my character, and it never seems to stay on the same place on the screen. And it would be nice if I could open doors with my right hand and not only my left. Also, I don’t want a fire button on both the left and right. I know a touchscreen isn’t an ideal way to play an fps, but giving the player options to change the screen layout would go a long way to making this a better playable game. As it currently stands I wouldn’t waste your $5 on this.

### 1/5 — Keyboard support terrible

*2023-04-29, version 1.1.6*

There are WASD keys but the A D strafe instead of turn, which would make more sense in a doom game.

There is also no way to shoot with the keyboard? Why is this so half-baked?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Perfect Doom port

*2026-06-23, version 1.1.6*

Fantastic port. Takes me back to mid 1990’s! Works amazingly smooth on iPhone 15.

### 5/5 — Legend!

*2026-06-10, version 1.1.6*

Awesome! Legendary! The One and only! Recognizable!
And…what about porting of Doom III? ))

### 5/5 — I bought this for a joke but also not

*2026-05-30, version 1.1.6*

So doom 2 is one of my favorite doom games yeah sure doom 64 and doom 3 is peak but doom 2 has something that makes it stand out to me maybe the new enemies or it’s just a fun game in general anyways I’m gonna try to make doom run on a lemon powered crt!

### 5/5 — Amazing game worth money

*2026-02-21, version 1.1.6*

There is a lot of levels guns demons and freedom in this game. If you play on a tablet the controls are perfect and has so much action

### 5/5 — Bom

*2025-12-19*

Tem que ter uma coletaria do Doom e o Doom 3

### 5/5 — Omfg

*2025-11-04, version 1.1.6*

TS SO PEAAAAAK

### 5/5 — A Legendary FPS That Deserves a Much Higher Rating

*2025-08-06*

DOOM II is an absolute masterpiece and a must-have for any FPS fan. The iOS version is extremely well optimized, with smooth performance, responsive controls (especially with a controller), and tons of content. You get the original 32 levels, plus bonus WADs like No Rest for the Living and The Master Levels – that’s hours of classic demon-slaying action.

The Super Shotgun is as satisfying as ever, the level design is legendary, and the music still slaps. The added cheat menu is a nice touch too for casual or nostalgic runs.

This game deserves WAY more than its current rating. If you’re a fan of retro shooters, or just want to see where modern FPS games came from, this is essential. Timeless, brutal, and brilliant.
5/5.

### 5/5 — Ignore the naysayers

*2025-07-13, version 1.1.6*

I don’t know why there’s a sect of Doom 2 haters on the internet saying this is no good. If you want more Doom, this delivers. It’s MORE Doom! The controls are great as well by the way, I’m having more fun on iPhone than I did on my Chromebook in school. I remember the pc controls being something dumb like having to use keys to aim and shoot instead of the mouse, this is just swipe, swipe, tap, boom, easy.

### 5/5 — for doom II

*2025-07-06, version 1.1.6*

i love this game but there is one thing you should add and that thing is MORE BOSSES! you should also make more doom mobile games and bring back mighty doom!you could also release doom eternal on mobile but pixelated!

### 5/5 — I love it

*2025-06-04, version 1.1.6*

The beat game I have ever played in my entire life I love using Cheats and using all guns and being invisible
