## What is Doona?

The Doona App connects to SensAlert, the only child car seat alert solution with 3 alert levels. SensAlert detects the child on board and warns the parent or caregiver with three incremental levels of alarm if the child is left unattended in the car. If the alerts are not disabled, SensAlert will contact up to 5 emergency contacts that you have defined in the app.

Download the Doona App, connect your SensAlert and we’ll take care of the rest!

## Key features

- Child presence detection
- Three alert levels
- Emergency contact notification
- Connects to SensAlert device

### 1/5 — Worst privacy settings I’ve seen in a while

*2025-07-25*

Require tons on unnecessary permissions.
While one can pretend that they can’t work without location and motion(?!) there is absolutely no reason to require contacts (I can give you phone numbers if I wanted).
They don’t just ask for it like many other apps - the apps simply refuses to work if you don’t give it the widest permissions and stops working if you remove any of them.
Even if we all pretend that all of this is needed, 10 years retentions is absolutely not necessary.
Also not clear which SDKs they are using - these are well known to use app permission to collect and sell private information even if we pretend that the app programmer doesn’t do that directly.
Customer service doesn’t seem to have the faintest idea about privacy - I don’t blame them if nobody at the company tells them (or cares?).
Unacceptable. Sending the device back and removing the app.

If Doona wants to respond to this review they should start with explaining what SDKs they use and how they make sure these don’t collect any personal information. Then they can explain why they would store location for 10 years. Otherwise, I think it’s better they don’t respond…
