## What is Doorpost?

"Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."

Deuteronomy 6:9

A doorpost is where the words went. Somewhere you pass every day, on your way out.

The Doorpost keeps the apps you name closed until you have written out a verse
from your Bible by hand.

Not tapped. Not swiped. Written.

One screen, one box. Type the reference and the words, and your apps open for
the rest of the day. Then they close again, and tomorrow needs another verse.

HOW IT WORKS

Choose the apps you reach for without deciding to. The Doorpost holds them shut
using Apple's Screen Time. When you want them, open The Doorpost, open your
Bible, and copy the verse across.

Get it right and everything opens until your day resets. Get it wrong and you
are told what is missing, never what to write.

WRITTEN FROM A REAL BIBLE

The Doorpost checks what you typed against the text of the verse you named, so
it knows the difference between a verse and a sentence. It is deliberately
forgiving about translation and unforgiving about effort: your ESV, NIV, NKJV,
CSB or NASB wording will pass, and stopping half way will not.

Tell The Doorpost which Bible you read and it judges you fairly against it.
Choose the King James and it holds you to the King James exactly.

A verse rests for 30 days after you use it, so the same easy favorite cannot
carry every day. There are 31,102 to choose from.

QUIET BY DESIGN

No streaks. No badges. No notifications. No leaderboards. No accounts. Nothing
that turns this into another app demanding your attention.

Set your own reset time if you are up past midnight, so the evening does not end
mid-sentence.

PRIVATE

The Doorpost collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising
and no tracking. It makes no network requests at all beyond the App Store. The
Bible is bundled, so everything you type stays on your device.

iOS never even tells The Doorpost which apps you chose. It only ever holds
tokens that the operating system alone can read.

THE FULL VERSION

The Doorpost is free to use: writing a verse to unlock your day always will be,
in every translation the app carries. Unlimited blocked apps, whole categories,
websites, and your own daily reset time come with the full version: $2.99 a
month, or pay $19.99 annually.

SCRIPTURE

Verses are checked against the Berean Standard Bible and the King James Version,
both public domain.

• A refreshed look throughout
• Faster launch and a number of fixes to verse matching across translations

Writing a verse to unlock your apps is the heart of it, and the free trial lets you live with the habit before deciding.

### 1.1 — 2026-08-25

The Doorpost now keeps a journal. Every verse you write is saved with its date, and your streak of consecutive days sits at the top. You'll find it in Settings.

A widget for your home screen and lock screen shows whether today's verse is written, along with your streak. It resets on its own when your day rolls over.

The empty text box now suggests a verse each day. If you'd rather find your own, just start typing.

An optional evening reminder can nudge you an hour before your day ends, naming the day's suggested verse. It only arrives on days the verse is still unwritten. Turn it on in Settings.

Writing a verse feels better too: the words settle onto the screen, and the reference is inscribed beneath them.

Also fixed: switching between light and dark mode now updates every screen immediately.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-20
