## What is DoorScan?

DoorScan is the AI-powered door scanning tool built for professional door dealers, estimators, and sales reps.

Photograph any door — DoorScan identifies the type, dimensions, hardware, frame condition, and fire rating in seconds. Generate a professional PDF door schedule on the spot, ready to share with your team or client - skip the clipboard.

WHAT DOORSCAN DOES:

AI Door Analysis
Point your camera at any door and DoorScan's AI goes to work. Get accurate identification of door type, material, finish, panel style, and handing — all from a single photo.

Dimension Estimation
DoorScan uses visual references in your photo — brick coursing, door hardware, adjacent objects — to estimate door and frame dimensions without a tape measure. Every result includes a confidence score so you know exactly how reliable the estimate is.

Hardware Detection
Locksets, hinges, door closers, exit devices, keypads, and handles — identified and catalogued automatically. Brand recognition included when visible.

Overhead Door Support
Full support for commercial sectional doors, rolling steel, and residential garage doors. Panel counting, track type, lift configuration, and opener detection from a single photo.

Fire Door Flagging
Potential fire doors are automatically flagged for UL/ULC label verification — protecting you and your client before the quote goes out.

Multi-Photo Records
Add interior, edge, or hardware close-up photos to any door. AI updates the record with new information from each photo — the more you show it, the smarter it gets.

Professional PDF Schedules
Generate branded door schedules with door photos, full specs, dimensions, hardware, and condition assessments. Share directly from your phone via email, text, or AirDrop.

CSV Export
Export your full door schedule as a CSV file — import directly into Excel, your quoting software, or your estimating workflow.

Team Support
Business plans include up to 3 user seats sharing a scan pool, with per-user usage tracking.

Offline mode
DoorScan now works without a connection. Browse your saved facilities, buildings, and door records offline; log inspections and service entries on-site; and capture door photos even with no signal. When you're back online, a single Sync button pushes everything up to the cloud — no lost work, no waiting on a spotty connection in the field.

Upgraded AI engine
Claude Sonnet 5 now powers door analysis — more accurate door type, hardware, handing, and condition detection.
Google Gemini 3.5 Flash now powers door measurement — faster, more reliable dimension estimates.

WHO USES DOORSCAN:
- Door dealers building quotes on-site
- Estimators surveying commercial buildings
- Sales reps creating door schedules for clients
- Facility managers documenting door inventory

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7 — 2026-08-05

DoorScan 1.7 — AR door measurement (iPhone). Measure a door's width and height by capturing its corners in augmented reality — sizes flow straight into your scan, snapped to standard door sizes with the raw measurement preserved. Works alongside laser measurement, which always takes priority.

Smarter scans. Improved hinge detection and swing/handing accuracy, including painted-over and dark-finish hinges. Measured sizes now match standard and common cut-down door dimensions.

Fixes and refinements throughout the scan and reporting flow.

### 1.6 — 2026-07-02

DoorScan 1.6 — Offline field work + next-generation AI

Offline mode
DoorScan now works without a connection. Browse your saved facilities, buildings, and door records offline; log inspections and service entries on-site; and capture door photos even with no signal. When you're back online, a single Sync button pushes everything up to the cloud — no lost work, no waiting on a spotty connection in the field.

Upgraded AI engine

Claude Sonnet 5 now powers door analysis — more accurate door type, hardware, handing, and condition detection.
Google Gemini 3.5 Flash now powers door measurement — faster, more reliable dimension estimates.

Detection & reliability improvements

More accurate door handing (LH / RH / reverse), including panic-bar and pull-handle doors.
Sharper overhead-door lift-configuration detection (standard, high lift, vertical lift, low headroom).
Higher-resolution image processing and improved measurement consistency.

### 1.5 — 2026-06-15

Expanded Preventive Maintenance Checklists
The overhead door PM checklist has grown from 12 to 21 items and the rolling steel door checklist from 10 to 23 items, now aligned with industry-standard service procedures. New checks cover spring pads, bearings, back hangs, cable safety devices, bottom fixtures, chain hoists, roller chains, sprockets, brakes, gear reducers, limit switches, fusible links, and fire door drop testing. The auto-reverse test item now notes when a safety edge is required.

Single-Page PM Reports
Preventive maintenance PDFs have been redesigned to fit all checklist items and technician notes on one page — including the full 23-item rolling steel door sheet. Pass/Fail/N/A tallies and service notes now always appear at the bottom of every checklist type.

PDF Improvements
Fixed a character encoding issue that caused inspection symbols to appear as garbled text in exported PDFs. Overhead door hardware fields (manufacturer, opener, springs, HP/voltage) are now formatted on clean single lines. Notes in summary sections wrap correctly within their container on all report types.

Export Door Record PDF on Mobile
The Export Door Record PDF button in Facility mode now works on iOS and Android, opening an in-app PDF viewer with Share/Save and Back buttons — consistent with the building report and multi-door selection report.

Improved AI Handing Accuracy
Once a door's swing direction is confirmed from an initial scan, additional photos can no longer override it — preventing a common flip where a bathroom-side photo reversed a correctly identified handing. A new barrel-visibility rule also prevents the AI from assigning a plain swing code when hinge barrels are clearly visible, which always indicates a reverse-swing door.

Android Rendering Fixes
Resolved an issue where adding a company logo caused PDF pages to render with incorrect colours on Android. All PDF viewer pages now render with a proper white background, matching iOS output.

Improved Measurement Reliability
The Gemini vision measurement service now automatically retries on capacity errors and falls back to an alternate model, reducing failed measurements during peak usage.

### 1.4 — 2026-06-03

Bluetooth Laser Measure Integration

Connect a Bluetooth laser measure directly to DoorScan for field-verified dimensions — no more estimating from photos alone.

• Swing doors — a guided wizard captures door width, height, up to 4 hinge positions, latch centreline, and deadbolt centreline via live Bluetooth readings.

• Frame analysis — a dedicated frame wizard captures frame width, height, and all hinge/strike positions on the frame side independently.

• Overhead, rolling, sliding & automatic doors — a streamlined wizard captures opening width, height, and headroom clearance (floor to lowest obstacle above the opening), with clearance calculated and stored automatically.

• Finish early — a Finish / Save button appears from step 2 onwards in the swing door and frame wizards, so users with continuous hinges or no lockset can exit after capturing only what they need.

• Laser-confirmed note — once dimensions are laser-verified, the Door Analysis note updates to "Width & height confirmed via laser measurement" so everyone reading the schedule knows the numbers are field-measured.

PDF Schedule Updates
Headroom Clearance now appears in the Opening & Mounting section of the door schedule, directly below Opening Height.

Tutorial Update
A new tutorial slide introduces both measurement tools — manual hinge & lock height entry and the Bluetooth laser wizard — so new users discover them during onboarding.

Bug Fixes & Polish
• Opening laser diagram redrawn as a landscape 3-sided opening (correctly represents overhead and commercial openings)
• PDF viewer header no longer scrolls behind the iOS status bar
• Headroom raw measurement removed from Door Analysis; calculated clearance now appears only in Opening & Mounting where it belongs

### 1.3 — 2026-05-20

What's New in Version 1.3

Building Reports
Generate a comprehensive PDF building report directly from the app. The report includes an executive summary cover page with a building health score, condition overview, inspection status, and open deficiencies. Subsequent pages detail every door asset, service history, and upcoming inspections. Reports can be viewed in-app and shared or saved directly from your device.

Facility Dashboard Improvements
The building health score now includes a visual info panel explaining how the score is calculated. The dashboard generate report button has been improved and now opens the full PDF viewer before sharing.

QR Code Labels
QR code labels can now be saved and shared as image files directly from the app. Scan a QR label with the camera to instantly pull up that door's full record, photos, and service history.

PM Inspection Checklists
Preventive maintenance checklists now automatically match the door type. Selecting Swing, Sliding, Overhead, or Revolving as the operation type updates the checklist to the correct inspection format. A new dedicated Revolving Door PM checklist has been added covering pivot bearings, wing seals, drive systems, speed control, safety sensors, and more.

Door Schedule PDF Improvements
An Inspection Index page now appears before individual inspection appendices, giving a quick summary of all completed inspections in the schedule. Fire rating reasoning text has been removed from PDFs for a cleaner presentation.

Service Log Updates
Office staff can now edit the cost field on existing service log entries, allowing costs to be added after a technician has logged their work in the field.

Bug Fixes & Improvements
Rough opening dimensions now always default to door size plus standard clearances
Fixed an issue where cylindrical latch hardware was incorrectly suggested for D-pull and storefront doors
Fixed lockset detection on push/pull-only doors
Fire rating label options updated to match across all screens (20 min through 3 hour)
Tutorial scroll positioning improved on iPhone
Improved reliability of PDF export and sharing on iOS and Android
