I am a professor teaching medical terminology in a community college and encourage all my students to use the app throughout their training. It’s something that works across all native iOS apps. Swiping down to invoke search, bring the keyboard and select the previously searched word on the search bar, is not a thing either. I paid 55$ for this app. The developers should really work on the user interface. I’m usually busy and studying when I use the app. It shouldn’t distract me from my studying. Noto : no result 2. Not: no result 3.Noto-: no result 4.Not-: no result I discovered though you have to do search with Not( Or Not(o) To actually get result!!!! Not intuitive and streamlined Some crashes also happened many times on my up to date iOS on my iPhone 11 Max pro I expect more from software that is 50$ prices One more thing the software is not well maintained by developers as it is not bug fixed frequently like other software, you can get this from the last version they published to App Store ### 2/5 — A good start, but many improvements are needed. *2013-11-06, version 5.2.22* Let's start with the fact this app is nowhere CLOSE to being worth $50, let alone $30. They see to have some great features (abbreviation list, flash cards, a great dictionary), but they all seem to be underdeveloped. First, it doesn't appear to have been properly formatted for an electronic device - you can barely see the print! Secondly, as an illustrated version, I expect some decent diagrams, but there are very few. There are many features of the iPad I would like to see utilized for this app before I could happily recommend it. The only benefit I see with the app, is the ability to more quickly search the dictionary than with its hardbook counterpart. Oh, and it's lighter to carry. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2013-03-06, version 5.2.22* This dictionary was recommended by my professor in a medical terminology course. I thought the iPad version would be more useful than a hard copy but I am disappointed. The flashcards are not overly functional if you have different study sets you need to form. Having the word pronounced for you is nice but that is basically the only positive use of technology they use with this app. Everything else is just like having a book...nothing else is interactive. There is so much more they could have done. You pay a little less than a paper copy of the book but at this price it would have been nice to see more electronic benefits. I could have purchased a much cheaper app for my purposes. I feel like I just paid for the name and reputation. Definitions should be rich and informative, even exploring etymologies and history of words or terms or phrases, like dictionary.com does. Thanks. ### 5/5 — Dorland’s Medical Dictionary *2019-09-05* Excellent reference for both general use and the most advanced practicioner. ### 5/5 — Interface could use some work, but a very helpful app *2019-07-04* Content is concise and well rounded with enough to satisfy before reaching for alternate sources if needed. I frequently compare entries with Taber’s for a quick overview, as the perspectives are different but mostly complement each other. MobiSystems could learn a bit from Unbound’s interface, particularly the branched entries without leaving the main definition, higher bitrate voiceover, expanded indices, and more illustrations (“illustrated” is a bit misleading). The word history is helpful when revisiting terms. Not a fan of the “homepage” starting point and find raising the keyboard twice to clear old entries to input new ones annoying. Overall, a good product that gets frequent if not daily use. Worth the price and then some. MUCH BETTER NOW.
