### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2025-07-15, version 1.13*

I am a personal trainer and we are required to use this app. Not only is it awful and completely un user friendly for clients but it takes upwards of 3+ hours to create a program I could make in 10 minutes. On top of that there is extremely limited exercises and the form is incorrect on far to many. The calorie tracker side is even more useless than the exercise side. It is so bad I have to give my clients alternatives. Honestly the state of this app is extremely disappointing and is in desperate need of several updates just to fix the bugs alone.

### 1/5 — What I think

*2025-03-13, version 1.13*

Worst app I’ve ever used.

### 1/5 — Not the best out there

*2025-01-01, version 1.13*

I was told by my Personal Trainer to start using this app so they can keep track of my progress.

Food entry and food database is horrible. It feels like I have to manually enter every single food in unless it’s a generic entry. Apps like MyFitness is miles ahead of this app.

Another major issue is the calories goal “cannot be changed” and is stuck at 2,886 for me when my PT has assigned it to be 1,776. Im told to just keep track myself to not go over.

Exercise entry’s also a pain especially when you need to track a custom workout that is not laid out in the app.

For now, I only use the app to log in my meals and that’s it. It’s inconvenient and painful to do, but it’s the only way my trainer can see my nutrition with the gym.

You are better off with MyFitness App for nutrition (free) and something like HEVY for workouts. All with free options that are more than enough with what you need without paying.

I don’t recommend this app…more work just to use. I’d rather use a pen and notebook.

### 1/5 — Needs updates!

*2024-09-24, version 1.13*

After reading old reviews, nothing has changed with this app. It needs to be updated asap

### 1/5 — Adding Apps and Devices

*2024-07-29, version 1.13*

Under the program tab when I select add apps and devices all I get is the spinning icon and then back to the Home Screen. Unable to add the Health app for tracking purposes.

### 1/5 — Would not use if I didn’t have to.

*2023-10-06*

App is not simple to use. 2-3 clicks to do or find things. Food database is limited and difficult to read. When searching potatoes, and finally fine one. It ends up being “chips” but you can’t see that when searching. Sometimes buttons don’t work. When I reached out to support they said “my account worked” I pointed out it was an app issue not an account issue. My gym trainer has to use this app, otherwise in no world would I use this with so many other better options out there.

### 1/5 — Literal Garbage

*2023-05-27, version 1.13*

You won’t find most foods on here if you want to log your meals. Conveniently though, you can find every DotFIT product and you can purchase their products, so the app feels like a lazy money grab. Layout is horrible too.

### 1/5 — UPDATE!!!

*2023-04-13*

My trainer has me using this app, which hasn’t been updated in over 2 years! It keeps crashing when I go to view the menus. I logged in for the first time the other day and I already burned 1,000 calories? Did DotFIT just forget about their app? Do they even care?

### 1/5 — Horrible Health app

*2022-11-07, version 1.13*

It has not been updated in over a year. Food log entry is remedial with no way to scan food in. Like another user said, first time I logged in…I had already burned 700 calories! Workout entry is a joke.

Since we are told to use this by our trainers for tracking food and workouts plus it is a way to purchase nutrients supplements…

I would like to be able to use one app. I cannot even link my own workouts through Apple Health/Activity app to this app.

UPDATE THE APP!

### 1/5 — Glitchy App

*2022-11-01, version 1.13*

Works off and on which is unacceptable when you need to log your food.

### 1/5 — This is the app my gym uses

*2022-01-11, version 1.13*

This app will not even load on my phone or a desktop. It is so terrible. Can anyone support it ?

### 1/5 — Can’t even log in

*2021-09-10, version 1.13*

My trainer created an account for me through my gym so that I can track my meals and progress in weight lifting and I can’t even log in to the app…this is ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Weird

*2021-05-30, version 1.13*

I only use this because my trainer uses it to keep track. It’s kinda weird because my trainer signed me up and it said I had already burned 1000 calories? How would it know that? I don’t know and it’s kinda hard to use but that’s just me

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2021-04-10, version 1.13*

The WORST food logging app I’ve ever used. They need to update and make it more user friendly. No bar code scanner; terrible choices when you search a food. It’s extremely slow whether I use my phone or laptop. The ONLY reason I even use it is because my trainer has to use it to track my progress. Even the workout section is difficult to use. I’ve read tons of similar reviews - so why don’t they fix it????

### 1/5 — Poor app

*2021-02-25, version 1.11*

The website is fine; I use it daily. The app is garbage, it will not recognize the same password that the website allows me to use

### 1/5 — Not app friendly

*2021-01-28, version 1.9*

This app is not “app friendly”. The layout is similar to a website. Tracking calories is a hassle compared to other apps.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worst app for tracking

*2026-07-22, version 1.13*

This app is the worst! It does not find popular brand names or more than half the foods I eat! It’s very difficult to use and frustrating.. I do not recommend this app to anyone needing something quick and easy

### 1/5 — Ineffective

*2026-07-11, version 1.13*

Kicks you out often, interface is slow and buggy, limited options, doesn’t connect to smart watches. It takes far too long to log workouts and it doesn’t always save. At this point a live spreadsheet would be more effective than this “app”

### 1/5 — Needs an update

*2026-06-09, version 1.13*

Not user friendly at all and definitely needs an update to the app as a whole.

### 1/5 — App is dysfunctional

*2026-05-28, version 1.13*

This app is to communicate with your trainer at Crunch fitness, and it’s proprietary nature is literally the only reason to use it. Every other fitness and/or nutrition app I have used is vastly superior.

The interface is awful. Do you log your workouts under workouts or under logs? Neither one works very well. You have to manually type any workouts into the notes, there is no spreadsheet behind the scenes tracking progress. And after spending 15 minutes adding everything to the note and saving it just disappears. Start over please! Logging food seems a little better, but Nooms app is far more robust.

Also, every other app I have tried talks to the Health app on Apple. This one does not seem to, though maybe I have figured it out. It only seems to talk to your Fitbit or similar device.

This app needs an overhaul. The designers should look at apps by Noom and JEFIT for some ideas about how an app should work.

### 1/5 — Extremely inconvenient

*2026-04-03, version 1.13*

This app keeps logging me out, and I have to keep logging in. The calorie counter sucks. It has very minimal options and is also very confusing. Overall, this app was created very poorly

### 1/5 — Best intentions but failed

*2026-03-20, version 1.13*

The food tracking is terrible. Most people do not have time to put the nutrient facts in for every food item they used.

### 1/5 — Buggy as hell

*2026-02-18, version 1.13*

Won’t save custom logged workouts. App is a joke.

### 1/5 — Sucks

*2026-02-09, version 1.13*

It just sucks don’t use this app

### 1/5 — Too too too too much

*2025-10-22, version 1.13*

Not very user friendly. I spend more time trying to log info than I do meal prep or working out. There has to be a better way to track fitness goals that doesn’t feel like homework.

### 1/5 — Not A Good App At All!

*2025-09-12, version 1.13*

I downloaded this app to work with my Crunch Fitness trainer. I’ve been using Lose It to track macros and exercises. This app is tedious, not user friendly and unhelpful. I’ll stick to what I’m using and uninstall dotFIT to not waste anymore of my time.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love the app

*2023-11-24, version 1.13*

I like the app it helps me keep track of how many calories I eat a day but it will not quit crashing every time I try to open it. It started doing this this morning

### 5/5 — Long time dotFit user

*2019-02-06, version 1.3*

DotFit is THE BEST nutritional online program out there. I’ve been using this program since 2010 and have seen MAJOR improvements from the team over the span of 9 years. If you understand what goes on to just make little changes on the app, you’d know they put hard work into doing this. From the food log which is connected to fitbit and the trackers that connect to the Myzone (not apple watches bc apple is pretty stingy with sharing their info to non iphone ppl), it is THE BEST program for health professionals to use with their clients!

### 4/5 — Great app

*2021-03-01, version 1.11*

So far so good. I use the app and the full version on my laptop. Fairly seamless. A bit of a learning curve to use but didn’t find any glaring errors or problems.

### 2/5 — Log

*2025-03-05, version 1.13*

It would be great if when you put in the weight for each exercise in the log that it would remember it for the next time you do that exercise so that you know what you did last time and know when you want to increase

### 2/5 — Buggy and you can’t edit some data if you have already entered it for a day

*2020-10-29, version 1.3*

I downloaded this app because there is a partnership with my gym. The app stalls often and I have to restart it. It also has very limited foods that come up under a search for brand names, plus the calorie count is wrong on many foods. The worst problem is that it does not sync with any of the step apps on my phone so I have to manually enter the steps. If you enter steps early on in the day, then do an activity later on you can’t go back and add those steps. I’m looking for a better app.

### 2/5 — Apple watch...

*2020-01-04, version 1.3*

Please... please... please get this syncing with Apple Watch

### 2/5 — Hard to use

*2019-10-05, version 1.3*

Searching for foods is so hard, it just glitches and sends you back to the top of the search results after every time you try to scroll down through the list. This app has a lot of useful stuff but it’s hard to use any of it cuz of the glitches...

### 2/5 — New User - below average app

*2019-05-12, version 1.3*

I started using this about a week ago so that I could track calories and exercise to share with my trainer as an extra motivation to keep on it. Logging my calories on this thing makes me want to quit. The searches provide little to no results and leaves you with the option of creating a custom entry. This is a nightmare because the screen rolls and blacks out when you are in the middle of it. If you do finish and his submit sometimes it takes and sometimes not. When you do enter it you have to go back in and assign a time to it because it’ll put it at some random time. I gave it a 2 as it does pair with and import data from my Fitbit pretty well and the exercise stuff can be helpful, but MyFitnessPal kicks the crap out of this app. If you aren’t doing this through a gym/trainer I’d go that route and not waste your time with this.

### 2/5 — Just okay

*2018-05-01, version 1.3*

Can’t scan food which is a big one does not import food data from external apps or devices. Menus are really good manually entering food is not. The app also is glitchy, deleting and adding things get tiresome. The desktop version is better

### 2/5 — Apple Watch

*2018-04-16, version 1.3*

Please update app or make it more compatible with other apps like myfitness pal and get an Apple Watch app so we can get alerts. You want more people to use it? Make it more user friendly
