It is very easy to use and produces wonderful results!!! ### 5/5 — Love it! *2024-03-10* This app is a GAME CHANGER!!! I originally uploaded my photo to a random google search site and then realized how difficult the project was going to be. Found out about this app from a google search, and literally went through all the steps and my image is printed and ready to go all within 10 mins of downloading the app. Love that the brand name dots are options, love that you can choose how many colors you want to use, all the details to make the art exactly how you want it (with photo previews) is AMAZING. Seriously developers, well done!! I never leave reviews but I am insanely impressed with how easy and quick this was. I immediately chose the paid version — worth every single penny. We're really happy that you're enjoying the app :) ### 4/5 — Very good, just one problem *2024-02-06* Very helpful. You can clearly see that someone has put a lot of work and love into it. The price is quite high and it was a risk to buy it without testing it. But I'm not disappointed because it's much easier to paint with the app. Just one REAL problem. You can't set which symbols/letters/numbers can be used, nor can you set the order in which symbols/letters/numbers are used. All you can do is choose between letter/symbols/numbers. Symbols are clearly best option but Since there are many very similar symbols that are difficult to identify, it is inevitable to make mistakes in some paintings. Even if you then manually rework the symbols, this does not work, as you can select symbols that have already been used and these are then replaced by a random new one. This is clearly the weak point of this program. And im sire its very easy to implement. You can even set color palettes and the Live View is ingenious. But symbol priority is far more important because without it you make mistakes over and over. There are certainly many small things that can be improved, but the program is already really great! I hope the thing with the priority list for symbols or/and own symbol palettes will be added later, then it's definitely 5 stars! ### 5/5 — Best app ever!!! *2023-12-22* Love this app. It is a complete app for diamond painting with every option available to counting drills showing where they are and marking them out when they are done!! Thank you Dotterly ### 4/5 — Pretty good but still need some updated features *2023-08-14* I know the app is relatively young but it does have a lot of nice features and is pretty customize able… but I have a few feature update requests. For me, I want to print out a full size image with the appropriate codes for the brand of dots/drills, that I choose, directly on the full printout. I would like to be able to print out to a full size jpg/png or pdf… without having to break it down to 8.5x11 sizes. So, for example, I want to be able to print directly to a 12x16” canvas (either on my own printer or send out to a photoshop) and have the codes appear, right on the canvas. To have a result similar as buying a full kit. Also, on top of that, I would like the full image to be printed… in the background, between the dots. That way it is just not white or black, between the dots/in the background. I feel the end result would be much better. Again, like buying a real kit. Also, I think the wizard/setting config could still be a little more cleaner/simpler. Despite these items, I feel this app is starting off very well! Thank you :) ### 4/5 — Super great game but *2023-08-10* This is a great game but you have to tap instead of being able to hold unless you get the premium, and if you already convert a pixelated photo just to edit it then it just makes it harder which I think is a little unfair. ### 5/5 — Unique app for Diamond dot design *2023-04-04* I love this app! It’s a great way to design my own patterns and use up excess dots, and as far as I know there is no other app for dotters, certainly none with all the features this one has: ◦ Create a new pattern by converting a photo, importing an image file, or creating a new pattern from scratch ◦ You have a choice of grids: square (like cross stitch) or offset (like Peyote beading patterns), and grid sizes ◦ You have a choice of drill types (square or round) ◦ You can crop and remove background from images ◦ You have a choice of palettes (DMC, Diamond Dotz, Artdots, generic, and you can create your own palettes from any of the standard ones ◦ There’s a wizard that walks you through the settings and shows what the effect on the pattern will be ◦ You can choose how many colors the pattern will use ◦ You can exchange all instances of one color for another ◦ You can reduce the number of colors by filtering out smaller numbers of color groups ◦ You can paint in (and erase) colors ◦ You can cut, copy and paste, and reflect selections, and also add text ◦ You can choose color numbers or symbol types (or no symbols) in your printouts ◦ The app tells you how many of each drill you need, and there is a feature where you can view all instances of any selected color and even the distances between them, to help in placing the dots I haven’t used all these features yet but it’s great to know they are there. The developer has included so many features I never thought I’d need, but probably will sometime soon. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not so great *2025-12-30* I HATE that I cannot zoom into the generated image before creating patterns. I’m not able to see details when choosing size, brightness, contrast, color count, etc. I also hate all the annoying hints/tips that pop up while trying to use the software. Lastly, it keeps doing a poor job of mapping my photo, looking very pixelated (at 24”x26” size even) due to insisting on not using more than 276 colors even though there are over 440 DMC colors available. I paid to unlock the software’s advanced features, but they don’t help with creating a better pattern. **Developer response:** Hello, we're really sorry to hear you're not happy. Thank you :) ### 1/5 — So disappointing *2025-10-15* Absolute waste of money. App doesn’t work like it says at all. I used a photo and you cant even recognise it. A larger pattern size will allow for more detail to be included. A smaller pattern size will result in less detail. We recommend using the wizard tool (look for the magic wand button) so that you can easily see all of the different options when converting a photo. Thank you :) ### 1/5 — Bad do NOT get *2025-06-07, version 1.40.1* First of all you cant even print out the picture with the numbers and only print put a pixelated photo. Second of all you have to pay for you to be able to actually do the painting. Lastly it has very confusing instructions and isnt clear. ### 1/5 — Not good *2024-09-15* Definitely not worth the money I paid. Colors are off even when using the wizard unless you use the max amount of colors and the largest size. Neither of which are good options or realistic choices. Of course you could make smaller sized poor quality pictures and spend hours editing the diamond colors. Depending on the images you are using, we can also look to make improvements to the app. To contact us, please go to Help > FAQ > Report a Problem in the app. Thank you :) ### 3/5 — Good, but Glitchy *2024-06-11* Hello, I am a huge fan of Diamond Dotz and I really 💚 your App (because I can make pixel art of Ian Lightfoot and other of my favorite characters/objects by my choice), you don’t need to have a subscription to purchase full content, and it also has no pop-up ads. Unfortunately, this App has several glitches when I work on a project and they are annoying. One is when you are using the Color Picker tool and forget to pick a color, a message pops up and tells you the same thing over and over again. I would rather not have it appear unless if you are in a tutorial (this is only when you start to install this App). Second, if you copy a design into your clipboard and paste it outside of the canvas, it will show the Oops! error message. I wish I could easily drag it onto the canvas rather than continuously tap it to add my pasted design. As a suggestion, I also want a Change Language option (so we can change this and your other apps to foreign languages such as Spanish, French, Russian, Romanian, Norwegian, Japanese, or Korean) because my phone’s language is currently in Korean. **Developer response:** Hi Flik the Ant0, thanks for your feedback. Thank you :) ### 4/5 — Could be perfect except for a few bugs *2024-11-29* I would have given the app 5 stars except for it having a major bug that causes old dotterly files to overwrite newer dotterly files. The problem is with the rename file option in the app. This does not actually rename the file it gives the file a nickname that you see in the app as the file name. I'd advise users not to use the rename function because it doesn't work as expected and it's counterintuitive. The 2nd flaw with the app is minor. The ability to choose letters or symbols doesn't allow for individual colors to have a specific letter or symbol on the pattern which causes the pattern to sometimes have microscopic symbols for example A3 instead of allowing a symbol for a single digit like $ or * The other problem with the inability to give a color a specific symbol on the pattern is when the symbol the computer chooses is too similar to another color used or another symbol on the printed pattern. Otherwise the app is perfect. Just remember not to use the rename function! I lost an entire morning - several hours worth of work due to the glitch. **Developer response:** Hi julie585, thanks for your feedback. The rename function simply changes the name of the file within the app. The same name is used when exporting your file. Are you perhaps looking to use the duplicate function? This app is easy to use and has great options of tools and brands. If your designing your own pattern it gives you editing tools like sharpness ,contrast, but also how many colors you would prefer to use. It will even changed the size if you decided that your project looks better larger. When you have a set of drills you can make an individual palette that you can switch to if needed. It will even let you pick a color from that palette while you are using a mainstream palette. I’ve submitted multiple suggestions for improvements to the app for creating create that can be printed directly to canvases for kit making.
