## What is Dowse?

Someone found a camera in an Airbnb once, and the whole internet remembers. You still have to sleep somewhere tonight.

Dowse checks the room. Three passes, about 90 seconds, one report.

THE SWEEP
First the Wi-Fi: every device on the network gets probed, and anything that behaves like a camera gets flagged. You can open a suspect's own page right from the report to see what it calls itself. Then Bluetooth: trackers, beacons, and gadgets that have no reason to be in a rented bedroom. Last comes the part most apps skip because it can't be faked, a guided check of the eight places cameras actually hide. Smoke detector. Alarm clock. That USB charger charging nothing.

Your torch becomes a lens-glint scanner. Your camera becomes an infrared scope, because night-vision cameras flood the room with light your eyes can't see. Point a TV remote at it and press any button. See the flash? That's the idea.

THE HONEST PART
Every report also lists what it could not check. A camera that records to a memory card and never joins a network is invisible to every phone app, ours included. That's exactly why the physical checklist exists. We would rather tell you the limits than sell you certainty nobody has.

FIND YOUR LOST STUFF
Earbuds under the couch again. Pick the device, walk, and the number climbs as you get closer, with Geiger clicks speeding up. 60... 74... 91. There they are. Works with anything that speaks Bluetooth.

WATCHING YOUR BACK
Dowse quietly notices when the same unknown tracker keeps appearing around you in different places. And it stays silent otherwise. No panic alerts about your neighbor's speaker.
