## What is Dozent?

Dozent turns a walk into a guided tour. The audio starts on its own the moment you reach a stop — no fumbling for the right track, no staring at a screen while the building is right there in front of you.

A DOZENT IS BOTH
A dozent is a teacher. A dozent is also a student. Everyone here is both.

Today you are walking Lisbon, and someone who has lived there thirty years is telling you which staircase to climb. Next month you are the one recording your own neighbourhood, for a stranger who is about to walk it for the first time.

Learning comes first — most people arrive to listen, and never do anything else. That is fine. But the tour you are listening to exists because somebody who knew a place decided to say something about it. When you know a place that well, the same door is open to you: record it, drop a pin where the story happens, publish it. Every tour is reviewed before it goes live, so what you hear is worth the walk.

No studio required. No production company. Know a place, and have something to say about it.

ALSO ON THE MAP
Not everything worth knowing is a tour. Alongside them you will find more than 500 short videos from people who film the places they love — architecture, food, history — each pinned to the spot it was shot, and playing without leaving the app.

And where several tours cover the same building or square, they share one place page, so everything about a single spot sits together.

A GROWING MAP
More than 2,000 stops across dozens of cities on six continents — over 1,500 recorded tours, plus hundreds of short films pinned where they were shot. New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Kyoto, Rome, Madrid, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hong Kong, Seoul, Rio de Janeiro and more. That is a snapshot, not a limit. Tours arrive wherever someone knows a place well enough to talk about it, so the map keeps filling in.

Every stop carries photographs and a full transcript, if you would rather read than listen.

TWO SHAPES OF TOUR
• Single pieces — one place, one short piece of audio. A few minutes, then back to your day.
• Walks — several stops strung together, each one starting by itself as you arrive. Prefer to pick your moment? Some tours play tap by tap instead.

WHAT YOU'LL FIND
• History — the stories behind the places
• Architecture — the buildings worth slowing down for
• Art — public works, in context
• Food and drink, parks, sacred sites, and the corners only locals know

HOW IT WORKS
Open the map, find something near you, press start, and put your phone in your pocket. Dozent watches for the moment you arrive at each stop and begins the audio then. Keep walking; it keeps up.

LISTEN TOGETHER
Walking with someone? Start a group and everyone hears the same sentence at the same moment, so nobody is a paragraph behind.

BUILT FOR WALKING
• Lock-screen and AirPods controls work end to end
• Audio keeps playing with the phone in your pocket
• Download before you go — the audio and the photographs both — and a tour plays with no connection at all
• Save what catches your eye into lists you can come back to
• Designed for iPhone, and at home on Apple Vision Pro

NO ADS, NO TRACKING
No advertising, no analytics, no tracking. An account is optional for listening — browsing, playing and downloading all work without one. Sign in to sync your library between your devices, or to publish tours of your own.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1.3 — 2026-09-23

Search that understands what you mean.

Ask for "somewhere quiet to walk" or "a building with a strange roof" and Dozent finds it — even when no tour uses those words. Search now reads meaning rather than matching text, and it runs on your phone. Mistype something and it works that out too. Each result quotes the line that matched, so you can see why it came up.

More like this. Open any tour and find others about the same kind of place.

More like what you saved. The home screen now suggests tours based on what you have saved — whether you liked it or filed it into a list.

A clearer map. Pins that used to pile on top of each other at wide zoom now gather into a single circle with a count, and separate again as you zoom in.

Faster, lighter updates. The app now fetches only what has actually changed instead of re-downloading the whole catalogue, so new tours arrive quicker and use far less data.

Plus: a catalogue that repairs itself if it ever downloads badly, a Clear Cache button that genuinely clears it, and a fix for date sorting on creator pages, places and lists.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-09-14

Filters, rebuilt. The row above the map is now four panels — Tags, Dozents, Format and Price. Choose as many options as you like in each, and every option shows how many results it will leave you with.

General improvements and bug fixes.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-01

Pinned posts on the map. Alongside our own tours you will now find short videos from people who film the places they love — architecture, food, history — playing right inside Dozent. Hundreds of them, and more arriving every week.

Place pages. When several tours cover the same building or square, they now share one page, so everything about a place sits in one spot.

Expand any map. The small map on a tour, a place, a creator or one of your lists now has a button that opens the main map, already centred on what you were reading about.

Photographs work offline. Download a tour before you leave and its pictures come with it. Photos you have already seen keep showing even when the signal does not.

A faster start. The app now waits until it is genuinely ready, then arrives all at once instead of assembling itself in front of you.

Video, full screen. Tap a clip in a tour's gallery to fill the screen, and turn your phone for landscape footage.

Search is quick now. Results appear as you type instead of lagging behind, and tapping one takes you to that place on the map.

Also in this update: shared links show the tour instead of a blank card, saved lists can be viewed as a grid and sorted, and a handful of tours that would not start where their own narration told you to stand have been put right.

### 1.1 — 2026-08-29
