### 3/5 — Very buggy

*2025-06-15, version 3.3*

I like the approach to nutrition that this app promotes, but it is a bit buggy on my phone. I am unable to change days in the app without fully quitting and restarting. I’d love a modern version with just a few more features.

### 4/5 — Works great

*2025-01-22, version 3.3*

Useful app for athletes that are familiar with the DQS and want assistance with tracking consumption.

### 4/5 — fair app when it works

*2024-10-07, version 3.3*

update: i uninstalled and then reinstalled the app and that seems to have solved the issue. previous review: was unable to log any food, weight, etc

### 3/5 — Needs an update

*2024-07-01, version 3.3*

I really wish this app would get an update. I love it when it works, but hasn’t been working for some time. :(

### 4/5 — Please support Europe :)

*2024-01-29, version 3.3*

Lack of cm and kg

### 4/5 — Awesome app!

*2022-11-28, version 3.3*

I use this daily. My family does too. It’s simple (meaning people will use it), and has a great focus on quality of foods. It’s less helpful when it comes to quantity.

One suggestion that would get this to 5 stars: include as a data point the ratio of high quality to low quality foods.

### 4/5 — Simple and effective way to eat better

*2022-04-30, version 3.3*

Easy to use and a very good way to monitor and improve the quality of your diet. Cuts out all the crap of calorie and macro counting. Some bugs that need fixing, such as failing to move to next day automatically without having to restart the app. Otherwise very good !

### 5/5 — Game Changer

*2022-04-11, version 3.3*

Very simple effective app that has changed my life. Thorough descriptions about the food groups really help. Excellent app

### 4/5 — Quick & Easy to Use; Could Be More Flexible

*2022-03-30, version 3.3*

If you’ve read Matt Fitzgerald’s books, you know that in order to make this app work for you you need to be honest with yourself. There are no hard and fast rules, and it’s easy to lie to yourself about serving size. But that flexibility also makes this app very easy to use. I sometimes have to go back and remind myself what a serving size is, but I like that logging a days worth of food can take less than a minute.

I wish the app had more flexibility for omnivores. I frequently don’t eat meat. But for omnivores, legumes are counted as vegetables not proteins. I can switch back and forth, but I don’t always know at the start of the day if it’s going to be a meatless day or not.

### 5/5 — Love

*2021-09-23, version 3.3*

Love the book, love the app. Get it-do it. Thanks to Matt for all the work.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2021-08-19, version 3.3*

Love the app’s simplicity! Other apps are so feature rich, it’s overwhelming. This one is quick and easy. I would love to be able to track legumes and meat protein in the same day.

### 5/5 — Simple App Does the Job

*2021-07-15, version 3.3*

As a triathlete I use Racing weight system from the book and this is perfect way to keep a track of my food intake. Plus it had an option for vegetarians/vegans where you can pull through the right categories
Nice and simple and does the job

### 2/5 — When it works it’s great

*2021-06-07, version 3.3*

The latest update was a fail. I was using this regularly but when it recently updated it won’t let you save any data. Tried to contact support over a week ago and haven’t heard back.

### 4/5 — Great little App

*2021-04-25, version 3.3*

This is a great little app, and provides a simple way to track diet quality. Much better than trying to use a pen and paper!

### 4/5 — Would benefit from color coding meals

*2020-11-23, version 3.3*

As another reviewer said, I found myself confused as to whether I had already counted a particular snack in a food group that already had multiple logs. IIRC, that reviewer suggested a separate entry for each meal, but I think you could also allow us to select different colors for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack which would help a lot.

### 3/5 — Half functional

*2020-10-20, version 3.2*

Helpful for tracking the DQS, but the daily weight log doesn't work. There's a bug and it only let's you enter the body fat %.

### 5/5 — Really useful.

*2020-08-26, version 3.2*

I am following it to the letter, however I feel like counting negative points for some of these categories is counterproductive. Why would whole grain pasta for active people be +2 but regular pasta -2. It just makes you feel like you did wrong when really you’re taking the carbs that M Fitzgerald is promoting you to.
Otherwise, really intuitive and good!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can't even use the app

*2025-11-20, version 5.0.7*

A screen pops up to start a free trial or start a subscription but when I tap on either I get an error that says there's a problem with the configuration in RevenueCat. Frustrating.

### 1/5 — Used to be a great app

*2022-04-24, version 3.3*

I used to use This all the time. Tried to use it today and there was no way to track food. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. When I tried to log in it said the password was wrong. I tried recovering the password. I set a new one and it said it was wrong again.

### 1/5 — App’s doesn’t work

*2021-08-05, version 3.3*

App’s doesn’t work

### 1/5 — App doesn't work

*2020-08-07, version 3.2*

Every time when I tried to add measure app crashed. What happened? Will you support this app in future or I need to find another app?

### 1/5 — Has this stopped working for everyone else ?

*2019-05-06, version 3.1*

Was a great app - but no longer loading / working for me

### 1/5 — Constant crashing

*2016-12-14, version 3.1*

This crashes as soon as I open it, making it unusable.

### 1/5 — Can't reset password, app is useless now

*2016-09-30, version 3.1*

This app works most of the time.

I just updated my phone - the app required a new login, understandable. However you cannot reset your password because the reset password link doesn't trigger an email.

### 1/5 — Incomplete

*2014-12-18, version 2.0.0*

Save your money, could be way better but just too shallow to be of any value. Not enough categories & sub categories. My fitness pal is a much better option

### 1/5 — Doesn't really work unless you enter everything

*2014-10-14, version 1.1.0*

The selection wheels don't work properly. Didn't know something so simply could be so badly implemented. Give me my money back.

### 1/5 — Buggy, slow, minimal features.

*2014-10-01, version 1.1.0*

It crashed the first day using it. Drop downs are slow and unreliable.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2025-11-13, version 5.0.6*

This is a simple way to eat healthy.

### 5/5 — Really helps with overall health

*2025-09-29, version 5.0.6*

This is a great app and not just for athletes imo. If you were to just use this app and nothing else, and aim for a high score 90% of the time, I believe it would transform your health. No calorie counting etc. It incentivises you to eat a varied and healthy diet while still having treats just not too many. When I have a high score I feel great in myself - more energy, better mental health, less aches and pain etc. It's not rocket science but this is a great way to measure your diet in a holistic way without getting obsessed with it or feeling deprived

### 5/5 — Simple but effective

*2025-05-18, version 3.3*

I’m not a fan of counting calories and getting stuck in the weeds so I’ve found this app and Matt Fitzgerald’s books about nutrition.

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2024-10-29, version 3.3*

I use this daily. My family does too. It’s simple (meaning people will use it), and has a great focus on quality of foods. It’s less helpful when it comes to quantity. One suggestion that would get this to over 5 stars: include as a data point the ratio of high quality to low quality foods.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2024-07-29, version 3.3*

I really enjoy the simplicity of this app. It’s not only easy to use, but the underlying concept makes perfect, common sense. As an endurance runner, I use it to ensure I'm getting enough high-quality food to fuel my runs. It also helps control my weight with no weird, strict, or fad dieting. I wish this simple idea would catch on more, but people seem to think crazy is better.

### 5/5 — Long term helper

*2024-05-02, version 3.3*

I love this app. Very simple, easy to use, and a great tool for accountability. I’d like to say I’ve used it consistently for 5 years, but the truth is I use it when I start to drift, or need an improvement for some reason. I have come back to it many times, and it always helps me.

### 5/5 — The DQS Game

*2023-11-28*

It appreciate the way this app works. It is a great accountability tool and fun game to play. I have been using this for about a year now and appreciate the focus it gives me to eat healthy food. I have shared it with lots of people! Its simple and not that hard to figure out. One suggestion would be to provide a place in the app to figure your DQS score. That is not easy to figure out for someone who hasn’t read the book.

### 5/5 — Simple, amazing app

*2023-06-15, version 3.3*

This app’s simplicity is part of its charm. I used to agonize over putting every bite of food into my fitness pal and eventually give up. This system makes it easy to make healthy food choices and see the big picture without sweating the details. It’s been really helpful as I truly to focus on slimming down without too much restriction for my upcoming marathon.

### 5/5 — The best approach to food!

*2022-12-09, version 3.3*

The book in conjunction with this app has taken the pain out of ‘dieting’. I no longer have food guilt and I look forward to eating because I know that I’m filling up with nutritious energizing food that will help me recover and preform my best. I had so many concerns about my diet and goals but after using this app and reading Matts book I feel like my diet is on autopilot and I’m seeing results!

### 5/5 — Working again and back to being great

*2022-10-16, version 3.3*

I used this app all the time. I really liked it and found it very valuable. Since the most recent iOS update it no longer works. I tried sending a message to the developer first, but I did not receive a response. I hope it gets updated since I paid for it and would like to continue using it. Would change review to 5 stars if it returns to its previous functionality.

Update: after not working for a vm couple weeks it now works again. As I stated, back to a 5 star review. Not sure what the problem was but I think it is a great app.
