## What is Dr. Greger’s Daily Dozen?

Keep track of the foods recommended by Dr. Greger in his New York Times Bestselling book, How Not to Die, and now his new book, How Not to Diet.

The 21 Tweaks feature, based on How Not to Diet, also provides a weight tracker. The weight tracker can use HealthKit to either save manually entered weight values or to read weight data from HealthKit enabled scales.

In the years of research required to create the more than a thousand evidence-based videos on his website NutritionFacts.org, Michael Greger, M.D, FACLM, has arrived at a list of what he considers the most important foods to include in a healthy daily diet.

Dr. Greger’s Daily Dozen details the healthiest foods and how many servings of each we should try to check off every day. He explains his rationale in his book How Not to Die.

All his proceeds from his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements are all donated to charity.

NutritionFacts.org is a non-commercial, non-profit, science-based public service provided by Dr. Greger, providing free daily updates on the latest in nutrition research via bite-sized videos. He has nearly a thousand videos on every aspect of healthy eating, with new videos and articles uploaded every day.

Like this app, everything on the website is both free of ads and free of charge.

### 3/5 — Can’t edit the recommended of servings

*2026-08-23, version 4.0.1*

This app would be perfect if I could just adjust some of the serving numbers. As a diabetic, I need to restrict consumption of several categories (grains, beans, fruit). There is no way I could find to lower the number of recommended servings. I appreciate that for non-diabetics this is fine as is, but right now I’m better off without it. Hope you’ll consider making categories editable for users who have l medical conditions requiring it.

### 5/5 — Great reminder

*2026-08-11, version 4.0.1*

The daily dozen is something I know but is very different when actually keeping track of it. I have been feeling so great!!

### 5/5 — Simple + effective!

*2026-08-10, version 4.0.1*

Great way to make sure you’re getting ample variety in your diet, plus it’s a simple way to gameify eating as a vegan when you’re on the road. Two thumbs up!

### 5/5 — A Clean Bill of Health

*2026-07-18, version 4.0.1*

I’ve been using the Daily Dozen since 2018 and have read “How Not to Die”. This website keeps my diet on course, answers my many questions and keeps me eating correctly.

There are very few vegans living close by, here in Texas. We have two vegan friends. The gal and her husband have a miraculous story.

Our friend was born with one kidney. She told my wife that she had
Level 3 kidney failure. She was very interested in all the information Dr Greger dishes out. After checking with her doctor she went on a Dr Greger’s WFPB diet. She used the Daily Dozen App to keep her eating clean and consistent. Two months later she was tested and had no kidney failure issues and a received a clean Bill of Health.

This gave us the proof that a smart WFPB diet under Dr Greger’s guidelines is a great way to live! Thank you’s
out to Dr Greger!!

### 5/5 — Thank you Dr Greger!

*2026-07-16, version 4.0.1*

Such a simple yet effective app with no nonsense to be found. I use it everyday.

### 2/5 — Great way to keep track of key foods

*2026-05-29, version 4.0.1*

I love this app so much because at my age I need a reminder. I always have my phone so check if I have had my flex or berries helps me self correct with the next meal.

### 5/5 — Nutrition tracking for busy people

*2026-05-23, version 4.0.1*

I don’t like the trend of all these calorie trackers where they try to get you to be granular with your health data. I get that calories are important for burning fat, but it’s difficult to get an accurate calorie count when you have a million other things going on and eat home-cooked meals with no access to the nutrition labels for all ingredients used.

I feel like Apple Health sets this trend where every tracker has to have an integration where you track your calories, protein, carbs, etc. down to the molecule. (And no, AI doesn’t make it any easier.)

Which makes apps like this one a breath of fresh air. In a sea of Health integration slop, here’s an app that gets it: users aren’t going to work 24/7 as data entry workers without pay, even if it’s for their health.

Will this help people lose weight or be healthy?

Maybe some people need the granular tracking that traditional calorie trackers provide.

I, however, am willing to take a chance on this simpler model and see if the habits I build from it kill hunger and craving enough that I can burn fat without thinking so much.

### 5/5 — Grateful

### 5/5 — Perfect for health!
