I recently purchased a new iPad Pro M5 and transferred all of my apps over from my iPad Pro M1. Sadly, the display is broken. It still makes great sounds, but you can’t access the whole GUI on newer iPads (STILL WORKS GREAT on iPhone 16 Pro Max). =( Also… the developer website is gone. ### 3/5 — Works on older devices, not iPad Pro M5 *2026-01-25* I’ve always liked the drone sounds DR-OM produces. Please fix!!! ### 3/5 — Mark my words! *2020-01-09, version 2.1* If this were AUv3 and midi mappable it would sell like warm scones. I love the sound and I'm sure there's lots of good stuff to do with it, but as it is it's a mess on my iPad. Screen orientation jumps from landscape to portrait randomly, which reorientates the entire iPad, and the display is massively off centre so none of the three units can be seen in full and as a result about a third of the buttons are unusable. So it's good for a mess around for five minutes, but for wider usability, hmmm. I hope they're not charging for it now...? Nice little thing, good to look at, wild and promising sounds but until it either gets fixed or modernised it's virtually useless. 3 stars is generous but it would get 5 with a good revamp. ### 3/5 — Pleasantly surprised how good it sounds *2016-03-17* Got Noisemusick a while ago and love the glitchy harshness. Finally got versed enough in so many other instruments, I came back around to DR OM and can't believe I passed this up the first time. WOW! What fantastic sounds this app can make...and with careful tweaking of the knobs, this thing is actually playable. Wonderful music. Very anxious to get some recording done with this. Too bad there is no record and copy/paste functions. Got to give cred for keeping it authentic, though. Now let's see here...how do I turn on the computer and fire up that DAW, AGAIN?... Please fix this, so I can drone musically instead of on your support channels 😉 ### 2/5 — Lovely sounds, poor support *2015-03-14, version 1.2.1* Makes some very useful sounds, but it hasn't had its Audiobus support updated for iOS 8, even though it's been out for months, and an email to the developers' support address got no response. But there is an AUDIOBUS issue first thing on opening. Get this fixed and I'll change my star rate to a 5 instead of 1.. People don't think audiobus is a big deal. But when you run your own studio it is a very big deal. ### 2/5 — User interface skewed and unusuable *2021-04-25* UI needs updating. When opening the app on my iPad pro in stand alone and in AUM the controls do not center on the screen. Some of the knobs are off the screen and not able to be reached. The three units all sound basically the same. Controls do not adjust smoothly; notches of gradation are significant. Also the effects so little to change the sound and the mix slider just kind of fades rather than mix. There is noise in the oscillators like compression artifacts. See, just one more thing and DR-OM would be extra perfect. Not AU. I’m fine without that. Just.. presets? Even if you wrote current settings to a plist file that reloaded the app in the state it was last closed in, I would find that enormously useful. I tried using a sharpie on masking tape, but the tape doesn’t stay stuck to the screen nearly as well as those old die-cast metal cases. That, and I do occasionally use an app that is not DR-OM. ...never hurts to ask, right? Prior review: Oh my god they added Audiobus!!! I'm never leaving my room again. You now get all the stars. Prior prior review: I downloaded DR-OM ages ago and every time I open it I lose about four hours of my life. Drones, sweeping drones, pulsing drones, self-oscillating drones on top of drones.. what's not to like? No Audiobus. No record function. No inter app audio. The workaround--record the iDevice's sound output with something else and then play the resulting samples through something else--is a pain especially when I am trying to create new sounds quickly for fun. Which is of course the best way to get any real work done. No updates since 2013, though: sorta gives me the feeling that this is as good as it is going to get. If you want to make cool noises, these are some of the coolest if like me you prefer to hang around the low end of audibility. Maybe if we pester the dev(s?) they will update this thing. ### 5/5 — Brain Melting Good Times! *2019-09-17* I love this developer’s apps. So good.
