### 3/5 — Powerful but organizing action can be tricky

*2026-08-05, version 53.0*

Powerful but awkward

You are essentially creating your own UI.

For some reason it stopped capitalizing the first word of a task.

Just where did I put that action. What do those icon do, some are clear others are not. I recommend adding actions slowly organizing them as you go.

Recent releases have made it easier to find and manage actions, but you need to spend some time organizing your actions

### 3/5 — Good app

*2026-06-25, version 53.0*

Great app and one that I recommend. I wish there was an option to change the icon back to the pre liquid glass look.

### 5/5 — You have no idea

*2026-05-22, version 52.0.1*

… how much you need this software until you try it. Trust me. It is so well done and so helpful

### 5/5 — Essential App

*2026-05-21, version 52.0.1*

Drafts is an essential app for me. I use it daily to manage the flow of text into my various apps. Everything starts in Drafts and then gets easily transferred to another app with an action. I couldn't do without it.

### 5/5 — Love this thing.

*2026-05-18, version 52.0.1*

I spent 20 years programming windows. Switched to the dark side and found Drafts, will not go back.

### 3/5 — Very good

*2026-05-15, version 52.0*

I’m a tough grader. Most people give five stars or four stars, but I start off at three and rarely go higher. This is a great app. I may raise the review later after I get to know it better.

### 5/5 — Essential app

*2026-05-12, version 51.0.6*

I use this every day, multiple times a day. Jotting down quick notes to remember later or transfer to a to-do list; drafting documents that I pull from different sources; cleaning things up before putting them into another app. It’s great for all of it and more. And I’m sure I don’t even use 10% of all that it can do in terms of automations, etc..

### 5/5 — Indispensable to my workflow

*2026-05-09, version 51.0.6*

I use Drafts every day to switch seamlessly between my iPhone, iPad and MacBook to work on anything from short posts to long articles. It is a critical part of my workflow and one I pay for gladly.

### 5/5 — Worlds greatest note app

*2026-04-25, version 51.0.6*

I’ve used them all. And I mean every note app you’ve heard of and a lot you haven’t. Drafts is my origin point for every single note I take(and I take a lot of notes) everything starts in Drafts - it’s hands down the fastest simplest way to get ideas out of your head. I use the hashtag headers as inline tags and then a script / ai post processing shuffles everything into the appropriate category notes in obsidian. Simple, powerful, capture every idea task project fleeting thought you ever have. Perfection.

### 5/5 — Write anything fast

*2026-04-18, version 51.0.5*

Been using this app for years. Love the sync with the Mac and the ability to quickly start any note.

### 5/5 — If you want to be Organized & in control buy this app. Powerful one of the best in the GAME

*2026-03-13, version 51.0*

This app is impossible for me to live without. Period the end check it out and find out why.

### 5/5 — Love This App

*2026-03-11, version 50.0.3*

Simply, it works. No other compares. I have spoken.

### 5/5 — Core workflow app

*2026-03-07, version 50.0.3*

My first choice for quick capture and drafting any form of writing before sending the information to the right place with the quick action button.
It’s stops the paralysis having to make a choice straight off the bat about where the info needs to be housed. I’ve used it for years for an efficient work flow.

### 5/5 — Not usable right now

*2026-03-05, version 50.0.3*

The cursor and text no longer shows up

### 2/5 — Love This App, Newest Update Bad

*2026-02-25, version 50.0.3*

Cannot paste or type anything and it appear. Please Fix!

### 5/5 — The Quick Input Tool We All Should Use

*2026-02-10, version 50.0.3*

Drafts is a great note taking tool that does its job perfectly. It is super simple to use with enough features to please the more enthused among us. Speed and responsive is the name of the game for this app. Fast in opening. Syncs so quickly you forget that it’s syncing. And it’s very responsive.

I use Drafts as the quick input for my Obsidian Vault on all my apple devices, and it works seamlessly. Drafts does most of what I need it to do: quick actions, templates, and easy note transfer. Once I got it set up, I’ve had no issues with it.

Only gripes are that it doesn’t have more visual customization (which it doesn’t need honestly), it has a little bit of learning curve for its more advanced features, and it could have a cleaner add-on store. Honestly, this is probably subjective / user-error anyways.

Ultimately, I don’t ever write reviews for apps, but this is one I’d recommend .

### 5/5 — Strong product, fair business practice

*2026-01-27, version 50.0.2*

I despise software subscriptions in general. Most have turned into little more than rent extraction, and I am in the process of shutting almost all of mine down for that reason.

Drafts is one of the rare exceptions. The subscription is backed by frequent, meaningful updates. Development is clearly ongoing, and the product keeps improving rather than stagnating. I can see where the money goes, which makes it acceptable value. For that reason I intend to renew when my subscription expires in April.

I am also genuinely grateful that the developer has implemented grandfathered pricing for existing subscribers. Protecting long-standing customers from inflationary price rises is rare in today’s software market, and it is one more reason why I will continue renewing rather than cancelling and re-evaluating each year.

I also heard Greg Pierce on the Mac Power Users podcast with David Sparks and Stephen Hackett, and came away impressed by his intelligence and integrity.

Drafts earns its subscription. Very few products do. I am now also paying closer attention to other products by the same author, because this is not only excellent software engineering, but sound and fair business practice.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Absolutely Worthless wth Dropbox

*2026-06-15, version 53.0*

This app will not connect in any way, shape, or form to Dropbox. If you use Dropbox for anything, hard pass on this. That’s not necessarily bad, but they advertise that it connects to Dropbox. Stole my money.

### 1/5 — Everything is invisible

*2026-03-13, version 51.0*

Something happened that I didn't do and now everything in the editor window is invisible. I cannot access any notes because the content is invisible. Adding content is invisible too. I tried toggling the modern editor (new TextKit) but that didn't change things.

### 1/5 — DONT SPAM ME

*2026-02-03, version 50.0.3*

YOU SPAMMED ME FOR A REVIEW. HERE IT IS. ONE STAR. DONT SPAM ME EVER.

### 1/5 — Buggy on iOS 26

*2026-01-07*

Since I upgraded to the latest iOS version, it’s no longer usable. It’s super laggy and sometimes stalls when viewing a note so I can’t do anything.

### 1/5 — Apple watchでコンプリケーションに表示されない

*2026-01-02, version 49.0.2*

便利に使っていましたが、2025年12月からApple Watchのコンプリケーションに表示されなくなりました。アプリ一覧からは起動できますが、不便です。

### 1/5 — Whut

*2025-12-01, version 48.2.1*

Bizarre little app in how user-unfriendly it is. I suppose this is primarily for people that write code and are used to those sort of tools. I just wanted a straightforward app to write out full chapters of fanfic and my original stories. Guess I simply picked the wrong app. Idk. 🤷🏾‍♂️

### 1/5 — Freezes in iPad IOS26.1 with External Kayboard

*2025-11-05, version 48.2.1*

I have been a user for several years. That is until IOS26.0 and it freezing and crashing with external keyboard. They said it would be fixed in IOS26.1, but the problem still exists. I will be switching to Obsidian which is not as straight forward or simple to use, but at least it works.

### 1/5 — Stop with the pop ups

*2025-09-17, version 48.0*

I only use this for frictionless writing that doesn’t distract me so I can get my idea out before it goes because I have significant brain damage. If you cease to provide this functionality and make me lose another good idea I will cease to find this app relevant. I want an option to see updates WHEN I FEEL LIKE IT. Otherwise I DO NOT CARE. I ONLY care about not having a distraction when I want inspiration strikes. If you work just as badly as notes I will just go back to that. One more time and I am out and when I read this I will state it. I would pay to shut you up and leave me alone to never get a popup again. Insufferable companies need to stop harming our productivity to tell me what you want credit for. LATER when I feel like it. Have a tab to see updates and make it a pretty color instead or something. Learn how people work or you will be another app that becomes irrelevant because it should.

### 1/5 — Lacking

*2025-07-26, version 47.2*

A ‘writing’ app without italics. It doesn’t automatically flow between machines like Apple notes does. I was unable to see any difference between free or pro - thus cancelled my subscription.

### 1/5 — Arslan Bulatov

*2025-02-28, version 47.0.1*

Merhaba

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great options others lack

*2026-08-05, version 53.0*

This is a great app that for free lets you have all kinds of choices in how to manage files, documents, copied text from web searches and tons of other great features- highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Goldstandard

*2026-07-28*

Nach all den Jahren kontinuierlicher Entwicklung immer noch der Goldstandard für Text auf iOS. Die Synchronisation mit dem Mac ist nahtlos, das Potential von Aktionen endlos. Praktisch jede Suchanfrage, Recherche, Übersetzung beginnt in Drafts.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-07-18, version 53.0*

Excellent 👍🏽

### 5/5 — A text editor on steroids.

*2026-07-11, version 53.0*

I have never used anything like this. I’ve been using it for years now. It’s one of my most used apps. I discover new functionality that I didn’t know. existed on a regular basis in this app.

### 5/5 — “It feels like a safe place for creativity and organization to coexist.”

*2026-06-26, version 53.0*

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’ve tried a lot of note-taking apps, but Drafts has become my favorite. I love that it’s only $1.99, and everything syncs seamlessly between my iPhone and MacBook. That alone makes it worth it for me.

I use it for all kinds of things—planning systems, planning guides, bills, important dates, routines, and regimens. It’s basically where I organize my life before anything becomes “finished.”

What I appreciate most is how simple it is. There aren’t a bunch of unnecessary features getting in the way. You just open the app and start writing.

I also love the name, “Drafts.” It perfectly captures the feeling of ideas that are still growing, plans that are being worked on, and thoughts that aren’t quite finished yet. It feels like a safe place for creativity and organization to coexist.

If you want a clean, reliable writing space without all the clutter, I highly recommend it.

### 5/5 — It’s good!

*2026-06-22*

After using it more than a decade, it’s good!

### 5/5 — Never lose text you need

*2026-06-20, version 53.0*

Simple, extensible, automatable, text capture and editing

### 5/5 — Outstanding; Perfect for the Age of AI

*2026-06-13*

I absolutely love Drafts as my premium capture place when I am out and about or wherever I am, even in the office. I can record quickly something on my phone, which goes to Drafts, or I can press the action button on my watch and whatever I record goes straight to Drafts. From there I can edit it and move it into whatever destination I choose, whether it's an email, my diary, or my notes. It's absolutely perfect in conjunction with my workflows with artificial intelligence.

Also, rather than dumping things straight into different apps, I can put it into Drafts as a draft to think about, edit, and then send for production. I love this app. I highly recommend it as your future “capturing” place!

### 5/5 — Great App - Use this every day

*2026-05-24*

This is one of the apps I use most…

The perfect tool for drafting any text message, email, notes or just about anything.

Has excellent functionality, an intuitive interface, and works very well on Apple Watch to capture drafts on the go.

Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Really, really great for writing

*2026-05-22, version 52.0.1*

Drafts is an excellent environment for getting writing done. The scripting and customization are perfect. If it can be written in Drafts I do. And just about everything can be.
