## What is DRAGON BaZi Chart?

DRAGON BaZi is a BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny) charting tool built for enthusiasts and serious students of Chinese metaphysics. Everything is calculated offline on your device — no network required, and no personal data is ever collected.

KEY FEATURES
- BaZi charting: enter a birth year, month, day and hour to instantly cast the four pillars, with Heavenly Stems, Earthly Branches, Five Elements and Ten Gods labelled automatically
- True solar time: built-in coordinates for major cities convert local clock time to true solar time for a more accurate chart
- Luck cycles: Major Luck (Da Yun), Annual, Monthly and Daily pillars, laid out so the flow of a life is easy to follow
- Reverse lookup: work back from a known chart to the possible birth times
- Saved records: keep charts on your device for later review and comparison (data never leaves your phone)
- Print and export: share a chart or export it as a PDF for printing and discussion

WHY DRAGON BAZI
- Fully offline: works in airplane mode
- Privacy first: nothing collected, nothing uploaded, nothing tracked, no ads
- Clean design: traditional serif typography with a clear, uncluttered layout

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.5 — 2026-08-16

NEW GANZHI DATE PICKER
• Birth date is now chosen step by step — year, month, day, hour — with the matching pillar shown live at every step
• Year, month and day all scroll up and down without limit; decade, year and month headings keep long scrolls readable
• The hour step offers thirteen cells (early Zi, Chou … Hai, late Zi). Early and late Zi produce different day pillars, so picking a cell removes the guesswork
• The picker applies true solar time and daylight/winter corrections, so the pillars it shows match the cast chart exactly

THREE WAYS TO ENTER A BIRTH TIME
• Wheel picker (as before), typed entry, or the new Ganzhi picker — switch in Settings
• Typed entry uses five fields (year, month, day, hour, minute) on a 24-hour clock, advancing automatically as you fill each one; minutes are optional

AUTOMATIC DAYLIGHT / WINTER TIME CHECK
• Pick a birthplace and date and the app checks that location's historical time rules: if daylight saving was in force it says so and corrects for it
• Added a "Winter time" option, mutually exclusive with "Daylight saving"
• Birthplaces expanded to 27, adding San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Houston, Boston, Phoenix, Honolulu, Calgary and Montreal
• Clock time distorted by daylight saving throws true solar time out by a whole double-hour, so this check prevents a wrongly cast chart

ALSO
• Date display can be set to D/M or M/D
• Step to the previous or next double-hour straight from the chart — useful when a birth hour is uncertain
• Clear button on the name field, and a "Clear all" action on the new-chart form

All chart calculations still run entirely offline. No personal data is collected.

### 2.4 — 2026-08-10

LUCK CYCLES NOW SCROLL FREELY
• Major Luck, Annual, Monthly and Daily rows all scroll left and right — no longer capped at ten or twelve cells
• Scroll the monthly row straight into the previous or next year; scroll the daily row past a solar term into neighbouring months
• Major Luck scrolls centuries ahead; the annual row scrolls into adjacent Luck Cycles

EVERYTHING STAYS IN SYNC
• Pick a month from another year and the annual pillar follows; if that year falls in a different Luck Cycle, the Luck Cycle follows too
• Pick a day across a solar term and all three rows above realign
• The four pillars at the top — and anything you print — always match what you selected

ADDED
• Choose how daily pillars are shown: horizontal scroll (default) or full-month grid, switchable in Settings
• Cells outside the current selection are dimmed, and months from another year show that year, so it is obvious at a glance

All chart calculations still run entirely offline. No personal data is collected.

### 2.3 — 2026-08-09

NEW LUCK-CYCLE LAYOUT
• Major Luck, Annual, Monthly, Daily pillars and the ±60-year comparison can all be shown at once — no more switching tabs
• Pick a Luck Cycle and the annual row opens right below it; the ten Luck Cycle cells stay put
• Every layer folds away independently, still showing what you selected
• Daily pillars now shown as a full-month grid

ADDED
• iCloud sync: iPhone and iPad signed in to the same Apple ID share your saved charts automatically. Data stays in your own iCloud — we cannot see it.
• Export / import backup: charts can be exported to a backup file and saved to the Files app, AirDropped or emailed
• Landscape layout: in landscape the toolbar moves to a vertical rail on the right, so the pillars and the luck cycles are both fully visible
• Saved records can now be edited: name, gender and birth details

FIXED
• Printing now uses the native iOS print panel — pick an AirPrint printer or save as PDF. The A4 layout has been redesigned and now includes a Five Elements reference.
• Tighter margins top and bottom — the chart now uses the full iPhone Pro Max screen
• ±60-year comparison: the Ten Gods were calculated against the original chart's Day Master instead of the shifted chart's own reference stem. Now corrected, and the stem in use is shown.
• ±60-year comparison now skips to the next cycle when a lunar day does not exist in the target year
• The four pillars shifted down by one row when a Luck Cycle or Annual pillar was selected
• Charts cast with "Birth hour unknown" no longer display a time
• Reverse date finder now follows Year → Month → Day → Hour

All chart calculations still run entirely offline. No personal data is collected.

### 2.2 — 2026-08-08

NEW LUCK-CYCLE LAYOUT
• Major Luck, Annual, Monthly, Daily pillars and the ±60-year comparison can all be shown at once — no more switching tabs
• Pick a Luck Cycle and the annual row opens right below it; the ten Luck Cycle cells stay put
• Every layer folds away independently, still showing what you selected — you control the layout
• Daily pillars now shown as a full-month grid

ADDED
• Export / import backup: charts can be exported to a backup file and saved to the Files app, AirDropped or emailed. Export before changing or reinstalling and everything comes back. On import the newer copy of a record is kept — nothing is overwritten.
• Saved records can now be edited: name, gender and birth details

FIXED
• ±60-year comparison: the Ten Gods were calculated against the original chart's Day Master instead of the shifted chart's own reference stem. Now corrected, and the stem in use is shown.
• ±60-year comparison now skips forward to the next cycle when a lunar day (the 29th or 30th) does not exist in the target year, instead of stopping with an error
• The four pillars shifted down by one row when a Luck Cycle or Annual pillar was selected
• Charts cast with "Birth hour unknown" no longer display a time
• Printing now uses the native iOS print panel — pick an AirPrint printer or save as PDF
• Reverse date finder now follows Year to Month to Day to Hour
• iPhone Pro Max and iPad: tighter margins top and bottom

All calculations still run entirely offline. No personal data is collected; backup files stay on your own device.

### 2.1 — 2026-08-07

FIXED
• ±60-year comparison: the Ten Gods were calculated against the original chart's Day Master instead of the shifted chart's own reference stem. Now corrected.
• The four pillars shifted down by one row when a Luck Cycle or Annual pillar was selected.
• Charts cast with "Birth hour unknown" no longer display a time.

IMPROVED
• Printing now uses the native iOS print panel — pick an AirPrint printer or save as PDF.
• Saved records can now be edited: name, gender and birth details.
• Reverse date finder now follows Year to Month to Day to Hour.
• iPhone Pro Max and iPad: the chart and cycle panel scale up to fill the screen.

All calculations still run entirely offline. No personal data is collected.
