The gameplay mechanic is unique, and it’s an easy game to pick up and play for brief periods of time if you just need to fill a few minutes. Collecting and powering up adorable and well-designed dragons is fun, but I wish there was more lore to them than stories copied and pasted from sister game Dragon Village Collection. What I think this game needs most is more story content, more of a reason to do what you do in the game. For a game with the name “Adventure” in it, there’s really not much in the way of actual adventuring; it’s just pressing a button, watching little pixel characters break stuff, and wondering which dragon you’ll get next. I’d really love some story quests to keep me engaged and invested. The Highbrow devs are really good at reading and responding to player feedback, so I hope they will continue to improve and expand this game. Definitely takes ALOT of money to play tho if you want to really make it in the game! I also wouldn’t waste money on the gems getting a re-roll when you finally hatch the dragon because every single time I have you literally just get the same result! I’ve already spent well over $200 and I didn’t really make it that far in the game! It takes forever to hatch an egg once you make it to the volcano place! And then when I did hatch an egg, all I got was money and I spent the gems to go and re-roll and I got the same result just the money instead of the dragon I was spending all of my time to hatch! They have trinkets coming soon to hopefully help with harvesting speed, and how much skill orbs it takes to get one incubator done. Thank you. ### 4/5 — Very cute mobile game *2025-01-26* I’ve been a long time fan of DVC but I hadn’t played it in a loooong time so when this popped out of preorder I was pretty excited. I love all the flashy colors and I’ve been having a lot of fun just opening my brooders and leveling up my dragons because I think the designs of the dragons are really nice. I just don’t really see the point in a ranking system that allows me to be in 2,000th or 14,000th place. I suggest adding leagues so all 14k players aren’t against each other. Obviously the in app purchases kinda ruin the whole point of a ranking system (to show your skill and dedication) but I understand the developers need support so that’s not an issue for me at all. I can say getting gold out of a dragon egg is pretty dumb. The match 3 process is just tedius. Sometimes you can do x30 as the maximum. And others you can do x5.. why? The dragons don't seem to have any intelligence during the harvest either. And each harvest is random. Ive gotten mushroom 1 time since I started. First time the egg gave me gold. Lovely. I don’t even enjoy the roulette wheel or the wander dude anymore because you’re almost guaranteed to get the least amount of essence or if not just gold!! And I love how the pop-up sudden missions only pop up when you barely have any essence left and you know that people worked all the way to that last four stage and can barely make it so people go ahead and spend more gems to make the goal!! Flashy lights, satisfying haptics, and CONSTANT gambling-esque features make it feel like a casino. Almost every feature has some sort of gacha element to it. The ENTIRE gameplay is, essentially, "hold a button until your essence runs out, then wait or buy more. Once you use enough essence to harvest stuff, you get a gacha pull". That's it. I decided to play until I unlocked the second region to see if it got any better, but, aside from adding new useless buttons to my screen, it was the same thing. New regions do not share currency, so you're starting from scratch. Also, there's separate PVP rankings for each zone. Even better, you can't regenerate essence for other regions while you're not in them, and any free essence you get is automatically the type of the zone you're playing in. This means you either pay up to keep up, or miss out on limited time rewards. Despicable. Unless you have oodles of cash to spend or are fond of the feeling of gambling without the chance of monetary gain, AVOID this game. **Developer response:** Thank you, Xenephos, for playing the game and providing detailed feedback. It’s pretty bland on features, but It’s new so that’s understandable. I’m pretty upset by the fact that other areas have to be open to generate essence, so I’ve decided to stick myself to the first area (forest of hope) to get it to level 30, as I see no point in going to the second area (wrecked ship) when it’s far easier to finish the current area. From how far I’m in, it seems fairly f2p, surprising from HB, but appreciated, I like how there’s no paying player currency and everything is obtainable from being f2p, even the ranking reward dragons, I do hope giant egg dragons return on rotation. Good pixel art taken from their other game, Dragon village collection, but I don’t see it that as bad. Would recommend to people who want something to log on for 5 minutes every 8 hours or so and are happy waiting for the stamina bar to fill. Edit: Rating changed from 3 stars to 2 stars I take back what I said about all currencies being free to play. They just removed diamonds being obtainable from the giant brooder, now at most free to plays can only obtain 15 diamonds per day, and thats only if they’re bothered to watch ads otherwise its 5 (I am one of those players). I fear this game is not going in a good direction, and it’s barely been a month since international release. ### 2/5 — Fun in the very beginning, but becomes time consuming *2025-01-26, version 1.0.7* In the first area getting the egg to hatch is easy and fun, but as you get past level 10, it takes forever for the egg to hatch. The power of my dragons does barely anything even when it looks like it does A LOT. I’m stuck on level 14 in the Forest of Hope and now on level 5 of the Wrecked Ship, and I’m just keeping my finger on the orb button because it takes forever to get to 100% for the egg to open. Please make this more fun, and give us good rewards if we also play DVC ### 2/5 — Lacks the charm of Dragon Village Collection *2025-01-18* The game is this: press a button to collect resources and more dragons, who in turn get stronger and collect even more resources and dragons. Why? No clue. But it isn’t fun, and somehow getting new dragons doesn’t even give me a dopamine hit it does in DVC. You cannot move on to the Thorn Tree Forest or anything beyond since it’s not available to anyone. I don’t have any incentive to play the game since I can’t progress at all. Thank you again for your valuable feedback! ### 3/5 — An improvement *2025-04-23, version 1.0.9* I was surprised at the response I got, and I can say the changes that have been made are definitely an improvement, but not quite there yet. I will start with what I like: forcing everyone into a single region is actually a good call. This prevents paying players from being able to continuously farm from every region. Making giant eggs the only way to get dragons from previous regions is an excellent move, as long as players CANNOT pay for egg tokens. Allowing them to do this would allow them to max out all their dragons and give them an unfair advantage. I know some players have expressed disappointment with how the progression system has changed, but I think it will make rankings much more fair. Furthermore, I am pleased that we can buy essence at events again. It’s a small amount, but no matter what difficulty you are playing, the amount of points you earn will more than make up for that. Thank you for making the availability unlimited. Now for current concerns: I saw the notice mention that the max amount of essence you can hold would be added up between regions, yet I am still only able to hold 2,280 essence. I feel like at the rate I am going, I should be able to hold more. Another concern is the raid. I have spent 30,000 essence and have yet to encounter a single raid. Perhaps a system similar to the big eggs can be put in place. When you spend a certain amount of essence, a raid encounter is guaranteed. I think this would be fair. Either that, or increase the rate at which a raid can occur. I feel great frustration when I spend all my stocked up essence and don’t encounter a raid at 50 multiplier. It feels as though I was robbed. Finally, the random events that occur during gameplay. I think increasing the rate at which they occur would also be beneficial. I do hope new regions come soon. I also hope the amount of time it is taking means we will get a batch of regions and not just a single one. Thank you very much for listening to your players. It is deeply appreciated. Kinda suss that they ask you to rate the game so early tho, give me some Time to figure out if I like it or not. I will be coming back to rate the game again when I have gotten farther in the game.
