Prior to this, I had a hard time finding a mental health coach in Chicago. Every time, I had to explain the cultural background to supplement the context for my family relationship. And sometimes the advice I received from them were just not practical. (Such as using silence treatment to set boundaries with my parents…) The conversation is much better with a coach who has personal experience about Asian culture and is also trained with Asian individuals in mind.
