### 2/5 — It’s 2021…get it together!

*2021-04-18, version 2.0*

The app has awesome graphics but still in 2021 does not support Xbox controller! Why is this game being crippled by lack of controller support? Save your money until this support is allowed, you spend the entire game staring at the movement pad instead of enjoying the graphics.

### 3/5 — Please add 🎮 Controller Support 🎮

*2020-05-03, version 2.0*

Wonderful game that takes me back to the arcade days of my youth.

A settings option to swap the directional arrows / sword buttons to opposite sides would be helpful.

Also, I would love to see controller support added to the app, now that iOS supports wireless controllers... 🎮

### 2/5 — Keeps locking up

*2019-10-02, version 2.0*

Great game but about 3/4 of the way through it keeps locking up.

### 1/5 — Bug prevents progress

*2019-09-22, version 2.0*

I have made it through all the rooms and am now on a 9 level elevator. I correctly hit the 9 L/R moves and dirk still crashes into floor and dies. Searching has revealed same bug in Steam version.

### 1/5 — Game Broken

*2019-08-30, version 2.0*

I was really enjoying this game, then about 45 minutes in there was a room where the walls were on fire and after I escaped through the door the game freezes. There is no way to get past the issue without restarting the game. I will be reporting the game for a refund.

### 3/5 — Looks good but controls are annoying

*2019-07-28, version 2.0*

The average rating is right on. It really is a 3* app. It looks great, but it’s hard to watch the graphics because u need to be watching the indicator on the control pad for your movement cues. Also, the on-screen pad is awkward at best. Wish they offered several control pad / sword alternatives. I’d prefer if it were all based around my right thumb with the sword button in the center. It would be way easier to see.

### 3/5 — Needs update for latest iPad

*2019-05-27, version 2.0*

Needs update for latest iPad 12.9.

### 1/5 — Ingiocabile

*2018-08-15, version 2.0*

### 1/5 — Numerous bugs

*2018-07-23, version 2.0*

Was looking forward to playing this again after enjoying the original in arcades but it crashes consistently. Got caught on the platform bug referred to in the previous review and now the game crashes during the green gloop cauldron scene. Have rebooted and started again but the same happens. Needs a proper update to remove bugs so we can all enjoy the game as its meant to be played.

### 2/5 — Pieno di bug, peccato.

*2018-06-30, version 2.0*

Peccato perché il gioco sarebbe carino, ma ha troppi bug che fanno passare la voglia di giocarci, un’occasione sprecata

### 1/5 — Update ruined game

*2017-12-28, version 2.0*

Since the update, the controls are missing, they appear only when move guide is on, but experienced players don't use that. And the arcade cabinet shrinks the game into less than 40 percent of the whole screen. Before it worked and was full screen. This game is unplayable why won't they fix it?????

### 2/5 — Very buggy

*2017-11-12, version 2.0*

Extremely buggy.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2025-08-08, version 2.0*

I was really excited to try Dragon’s Lair on iPad, having fond memories of the original arcade classic from the 80’s. Unfortunately, this version is a big let-down. The magic, charm, and smooth animation that made the original so unique just aren’t here. The controls feel clunky and unresponsive, and the pacing doesn’t capture the excitement of the original gameplay. You need super fast reactions to even get anywhere

For a premium price of £4.99, I expected something faithful to the original experience, with fluid animation and responsive controls. Instead, it feels like a rushed port that doesn’t do justice to such an iconic game. Unless you’re buying purely for nostalgia and don’t mind a compromised experience, I can’t recommend it — it’s not worth the price.

### 1/5 — I sound at all

*2022-08-07, version 2.0*

Pathetic, and I’ve searched any reason why there would be no sound. Crushed my 10yo who loves Dragons.

### 1/5 — Would give it a zero

*2022-06-09, version 2.0*

Won’t even download on top of the line pad and 2 gig net. Watch out. Maybe it should charge you the 5 bucks once it actually runs

### 1/5 — Impossibile

*2021-11-17, version 2.0*

### 1/5 — Totally buggy

*2021-04-17, version 2.0*

This is trash!

### 1/5 — You can’t watch the game

*2021-02-20, version 2.0*

The yellow flashes that show you what direction to push are on the bottom left of the screen. So that’s where you have to be looking the entire time. You don’t see anything that’s going on. I played this at the arcade back in 80’s when it came out and loved it. That is not what this is. If you want that nostalgia, get it on Xbox One.

### 1/5 — Way to fast to enjoy the game...I really want a refund

*2020-10-01, version 2.0*

This was fun for the first few seconds going down memory lane with this game. But you can’t react quick enough to enjoy the game like the original. They need an update to slow it down a little for the easy level at least. Don’t buy I should have read the reviews before this impulse buy. Lesson learned.

### 1/5 — Can’t Complete

*2020-07-12, version 2.0*

Locks at certain points and you can’t win

### 1/5 — Please refund my money!!!!

*2019-11-14, version 2.0*

This game does not work... I am stuck for months, there’s a bug or something,,,,

### 5/5 — I remember this game from when I was a kid

*2020-08-05, version 2.0*

Absolutely love it 😊

### 5/5 — I SPENT 1 HOUR ON THE ELEVATOR PART!

*2020-07-24, version 2.0*

Even with Easy Mode The TIMING Is So STRICT

### 5/5 — Works great on IPad Pro 11

*2019-03-17, version 2.0*

I remember this from the Arcades as a kid and I’m happy to have it on my iPad in HD. It’s still a very unique and fun game.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2018-12-24, version 2.0*

Great game, played it in the arcade. Years later, I forgot about it, then while I was browsing the App Store seeing if I could find some old games I loved, I found this. This game is awesome! Just as I remembered it! Don Bluth sure has done an amazing job with the graphics, and overall, the whole game. This game is a true classic, probably in the future great games like these will be gone sadly, and replaced by newer games. The past was great when people don't actually worked and put time into games. Also for those people always complaining about "no updates, and no bug fixes" this game is pretty old, I'm not expecting any "major updates" anytime soon.

### 5/5 — Great Game, needs update!

*2017-07-28, version 1.2.2*

Great classic game done well for the iPad. Will it be updated for iOS 11? I sure hope so.

### 5/5 — Bigger Joystick Buttons please

*2017-01-20, version 1.2.2*

Fantastic port! It is *exactly* like the arcade! Thanks for this incredible game.

The joystick buttons are hard to hit and easy to miss even when you know the right move. Lots of times my finger is right on it and it does not register my move. I think an easy fix would be bigger buttons. Having the sword close to the joystick would help a lot, too. Please could you increase the button size? I envision buttons twice as big. Or better. Maybe a circle divided into quarters with each quarter being a button (and the sword nearby). This would go a long way toward making an excellent port perfect.

Thanks very much for this game! A must have for all fans. I dearly love it.
