## What is DreamCue?

A lucid dream is a dream in which you realize you're dreaming. It's a skill you can learn, and it usually takes a few weeks of regular practice. DreamCue spreads that practice across four parts of the day:

• Daytime: reality checks. Reminders ask “Am I dreaming?” and suggest a quick test, like reading text twice or looking at your hands. On Apple Watch they arrive as a gentle tap.
• Before bed: a six-minute guided practice. A soft sound plays while you relax and ask yourself the question, so the sound becomes linked to it. The method is called targeted lucidity reactivation (TLR). You can also do a cue-free memory rehearsal (MILD).
• Late at night: the same sound plays softly in the second half of the night, when REM sleep is more likely. The timing is an estimate based on your sleep times; DreamCue cannot detect REM sleep or dreams.
• Morning: write down what you remember. One word or one image counts. The journal shows your average recall score and the share of nights with a lucid dream.

Sleep comes first
Before anything else, you answer a short safety check. If any item applies, such as severe insomnia or severe nightmares, DreamCue switches to journal-only mode. After poor nights or cue-related wakings, it lowers or pauses cues on its own.

Privacy
DreamCue has no account, ads, or third-party analytics, and it never sends your data to a server. Dream notes stay on your device, and you can export or delete them at any time. Apple Health is optional: with your permission, DreamCue reads the sleep stages your Apple Watch recorded and uses them to tune future cue timing.

Also included
• An Apple Watch app that plays cues as haptics
• Widgets for the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Apple Watch
• A short guide to lucid dreaming
• An optional research mode that randomizes nights so you can compare conditions yourself (N-of-1)

Please note
DreamCue is a practice tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose sleep disorders and cannot guarantee lucid dreams. Some nights you will not remember anything, and that is normal. On iPhone, late-night cues are notifications, so silent mode or a Focus can mute them. If nightmares, poor sleep, or confusion between dreams and waking life bother you, stop and talk to a health professional.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-10-28

• A new Tonight screen: wake-up, sleep recording and lucid cues side by side, with one button to start the night.
• See what goes with more snoring: your nights with and without alcohol, a stuffy nose or sleeping on your back.
• The night report now shows Apple Watch sleep stages over time and where sleep talk and coughs happened.
• Cleaner screens with less text.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-27

• Gentle wake: a melody starts almost silent and rises over 90 seconds, up to 30 minutes early at a lighter moment. The backup alarm still rings at your set time.
• Sleep recording (optional): see how long you snored and whether you talked in your sleep, and play short clips. Analyzed on your iPhone; nothing is uploaded. Not a medical test.
• Apple Watch: your wrist movement helps choose the moment, “Watch taps only” lets a partner sleep on, and you can record a dream note on your wrist right after waking.
• Lucid naps and wake-back-to-bed taps on Apple Watch.
• Night report with heart rate, breathing, wrist temperature, and breathing disturbances from Apple Watch, plus how regular your sleep times are.
• The journal now compares nights with long sleep, waking in the night, or more REM.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-26

• Night soundscape: soft noise all night with your cue mixed in. It plays in silent mode and under Sleep Focus.
• Wake-up and wake-back-to-bed alarms (iOS 26 or later). Stop the alarm and say your dream out loud; it's turned into text on your iPhone.
• Apple Watch can take the last 30 minutes before you wake: a gentle tap or two, then a wake-up at a still moment.
• The journal shows what goes with better nights: practice, cues, wake-back-to-bed, caffeine, alcohol, or stress.
• Also new: bedtime reminder, tonight on the Lock Screen, red light at night, practice saved as mindful minutes, and backup & restore.
• Faster loading and a calmer night screen.
