What does that even mean? Is this a bug? There was no weird social media posting system, no subscriptions, just a few basic templates made by Dreamily themselves and an unlimited space to write whatever you want. However, after the first major update rolled out which included user-created public content, subscriptions, and generation limits, I had to uninstall. It really is a shame how quickly good apps become overrun with greedy corporate decisions. ### 4/5 — Add another language, Turkish language *2024-04-06, version 2.8.4* There’s only two languages I can change it. One of them is English and one of them is Chinese could you please add a few more languages so could be much easier to write than that is great, but please add some more languages, especially Turkish. ### 2/5 — Loved it once, no so much anymore *2024-02-11, version 2.8.3* I’ve been using Dreamily for a while now, and it was easy to see in how I had multiple words running and even more stories. One day I logged in to look at the stories I had created the day prior. I discovered that not only were my worlds gone without a trace, but so were my stories. It was like I had a brand new account. This infuriated me and I haven’t really used this app since. My recommendation? The only problem is that whenever I use the expand feature, the app crashes. The best “Ghostwriter” out there, it’s free and easy to use. But then they changed it to where you need to log in, and that ruined it for me. I can’t use the app anymore because I need to sign in (which is something I am not gonna to do.) ### 3/5 — Concerned for where Dreamily is headed *2023-11-05, version 2.8.0* First, I absolutely adore this app. It helps me to get ideas out of my head when I don’t necessarily have all of the plot points together and just need to quickly spew the contents into written form. Second, I adore the updates that we’ve been getting. Never did I think it would be possible to have a realistic-feeling chat with one of my characters! That being said, there’s still work to be done regarding behavior and context. I understand things like this will always be a work in progress with changes needing to be made, but I do wish we had more control over how our characters respond in the chats. Most of mine have been completely out of character or read the input with a completely different context than what I had in mind. All that said, love the app. I migrated here after AI Dungeon started restricting free usage so heavily that I couldn’t actually get anything done—and that’s not even mentioning that much of my private content just… vanished one day… ANYWAYS, that leads me to the point of concern: energy. AI Dungeon limited what non-paying users could create by introducing energy, and that ultimately led to me leaving. When it can take upwards of ten attempts to generate an input you want to use, limiting how frequently your users can input content leads to some very short writing sessions because you reroll one too many times trying to get the next chunk just right and oops now you can’t generate ANYTHING for another 10 minutes. If Dreamily heads down that path, I may be forced to once again look for an alternative, and that makes me very, very sad. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Loved this app until the word limits *2025-03-06, version 2.9.8* No review needed. Just the title and the star. ### 1/5 — Why? *2024-08-13, version 2.9.6* So I use this app to help me write fanfics as I easily get writers block and don’t know what to write next in a story, making me abandon it entirely, but recently there’s been a limit on how much of the Ai writing assistant thing I can use. Please change it to where there’s no limit. Limit the character.ai rip-off you have or something! ### 1/5 — Horrible censorship *2024-07-21, version 2.9.5* The app has done extremely downhill due to hard forced censorship despite being on the US app store. It has become a pathetic app at this point and not worth using ### 1/5 — A fall from grace *2024-07-06, version 2.9.4* I had been using this app for a long time until they decided to charge for it. The charging for it wouldn’t be a problem if they also hadn’t tacked on a word limit with it as well. Should have just went with a subscription service that gives you unlimited words like novelai which I am currently using. Greed is going to kill this app. ### 1/5 — Once great app turned mid *2024-03-11, version 2.8.4* During Dreamily's beta stage, it was just an AI writing tool. No account needed, no quota, no Character AI feature. It should have stayed that way. But instead, the developers continuously added features that made the app worse. The AI got worse, with it outputting sentences or anything nonsensical that don't relate to the context of what the user has written. There are more bugs such as: - stories being randomly deleted - the Undo button malfunctioning (words and letters get mixed up). - Stories not showing up in the user's menu The quota is also stupid, with there being a daily AND monthly quota. I get that AI is expensive and the devs need to pay the bills somehow, but they could have just gone with daily quota or put banner ads and users would be okay with that. But having a monthly quota would just literally make the app unusable for a few days or weeks, depending on how much you use the app. Sure, they give you a free daily recap of 500 words to use in your stories, but it's not enough given how terrible the AI is. Don't spend you money or time on this. ### 1/5 — Data Lost *2024-01-28, version 2.8.2* So after the bug was fixed I go to log into my account and my data is gone. My units and stories are just gone. I’m pretty upset because I enjoy this app and spend money on it. Bad idea, I can’t get back into either of my accounts(I have 2).😐HELP ME WHAT IS HAPPENING. ### 1/5 — It’s not so good *2023-11-02, version 2.8.0* At first I came across Dreamily threw a site when I wanted to write stories for my characters but I was always bad at writing or coming up with dialogue and plot and blah blah blah (all for my own entertainment ofc) and tbh I stopped using it for like idk 4-6 months? And to be honest…the site did a better job at making the dialogue and story, this new one just forgets all my previously written words and comes up with very different scenarios that are not even mentioned let alone realistic?? For example I was writing a story about an infant who’s been left on the front door of an assassin, but the Ai’s next words were “and the assassin went to murder the infant and his whole family right on the spot” it’s just…bizarre and I don’t like it.. ### 1/5 — Lost all my stories *2023-10-25, version 2.7.3* It was a good app and I enjoyed it for a year. But upon returning to the recent update, all my data was deleted and my account was started over. I was really disappointed because despite the help from the ai, most of the time I wrote a majority of my stories all on my own. It’s my all time favourite app. I use it for all my writing- my writing in spare time and my writing at school. Of course, sometimes it won’t make sense or glitches- but it’s very high quality. I constantly keep the website open, too. If you’re looking for an app JUST to talk to your favourite characters, this isn’t for you. But an app for writers who have writers block? ABSOLUTELY!
