Worthwhile. Even though a non mathematician I’d like to have some better idea of the sort of calculations my iPhone is doing. Any chance of explaining to the layman? Great work though It’s good to know we’re contributing BUT. There is so very feedback. The researchers really do need to think about the volunteers and give Sri some basic Still good but as a volunteer I feel we should get occasional brief feedback about what’s being accomplished ### 4/5 — Great idea, wish Mac app gave more power *2024-12-11, version 2.6.8* The idea of distributed computing for science is fantastic, I only wish that I could contribute more of my workstation to the cause. I have a high-powered M2 Ultra and M4 Pro systems and there doesn’t appear to be a way to increase the use of those resources beyond about 30% of one core. I understand not wanting to over-use resources and increase heat of energy consumption, but if I am leaving this on overnight on a desktop or laptop with fans, I should be able to contribute more. Maybe with a slider to send a notification when your phone gets down to a specific percentage. I don’t like being nagged to invite a friend every time I end a session. This is the reason I’m not going to continue using the app. ### 5/5 — Très Utile et Mise à Jour *2024-07-03* L'app est formidable et fonctionne très bien sur les machines M3 cependant, j'ai l'impression qu'elle n'utilise pas le plein potentiel des puces ; Les ventilateurs ne se lancent pas et l'app consomme peu de ressources. L'ajout d'un mode "Plus" permettant d'utiliser de ressources pourrait être une bonne idée. "se connecter via Apple" fonctionne sur les macOS et Apple Devices récents. Il n'y a plus aucun problème de demande d'autorisation. Je ne trouve pas de bug. COMMENTAIRE PRECEDENT (Catalina & Intel) -- Il est malheureusement impossible de lancer une session ; l'application demande de brancher l'appareil. Il s'agit d'un iMac (macOS Catalina). Il est également impossible d'utiliser la fonction "se connecter via Apple" il y a le chargement, mais rien ne se passe après plusieurs minutes d'attente. Je mets 3 étoiles car j'utilise l'application sur iPhone et je sait qu'elle est utile, cependant, je ne peux pas donner de meilleure note tant que l'application ne fonctionne pas. C'est dommage. Each device is running the latest version of DreamLab and is working on Project Corona-AI (Phase 5). Today, both devices gave an Oops message. The iPhone recovered but the iPad mini 5 did not, kept giving Oops. Is this a server error? Please fix ### 5/5 — Tolles Projekt *2024-05-23* Den Hochleistungscomputern (bei mir Mac, iPad, iPhone) beim Laden etwas vernünftiges machen lassen ist eine tolle Idee. Seit kurzem dunkelt das Display auch deutlich stärker ab - aber bei Fehlern (z.B. WLan-Abbruch) sollte der Bildschirm sperren und nicht stundenlang leuchten - trotzdem 5 Sterne. ### 5/5 — Klasse App, aber… *2024-04-02* Ich benutze die App schon länger und sie funktionierte auch immer einwandfrei. Leider aber seit einiger Zeit nicht mehr und mittendrin kommt die Fehlermeldung, dass irgendetwas schief gelaufen sei. Dabei scheint auch der Bildschirm nicht gesperrt zu werden, sodass die Fehlermeldung die ganze Zeit zu leuchten scheint. ### 5/5 — Wohlfühl-App für Hilfsbereite Menschen *2024-03-26* Über Nacht einschalten (am gestarteten Timer zu erkennen) und aktiv laufen lassen. 👍 Leider gibt es bei mir seit dem letzten Update das Problem dass keine Berechnungen mehr Durchgeführt werden und ich irgendwann eine „Da ist wohl etwas schiefgelaufen“ Nachricht bekomme. Sono 4 anni che ogni notte vengono messi a disposizione da 2 a 4 apparati (iPhone 13 (8), iPad Air 5 (3) generazione), nonchè 2 MacBook Air del 2015 e 2022). Dei migliaia di calcoli effettuati non se ne conoscono le ricadute: ci sono state e, se sì, quali? Nel contempo come mai ogni notte ci sono risultati diversissimi a prescindere che vi sia un superperformante chip M2 // A15 Bionic aut antiquati A11 Bionic//IntelCore i/7 a2.8 GHz?? (peraltro spesso i vecchi apparati sono performanti - numericamente - dei avanzati!). Infine la domanda delle domande: tutto questa partecipazione (a proposito, quanti siamo? Sarebbe interessante avere in tempo reale, in un angolo del schermo, quanti apparati sono collegati al momento) a cosa ha portato concretamente so far tutta questa partecipazione..... Buon lavoro a tutti. ### 5/5 — Great idea *2024-03-03, version 2.6.4* It’s just a great feeling that while you sleep your phone gets put to the benefit of helping all mankind. Also it does not overheat the phone as the early version did get a bit warm so they have addressed the issues and turned this app into a must have for everyone. They would get more calculations out of us if when reconnecting you didn’t have to go through four screens asking to reconnect ### 1/5 — No longer appears to be working *2024-07-25, version 2.6.7* I have been a big supporter of this app for years and have told Fred and family about it asking them to download and help with research. But unfortunately, I have not seen any progress on the projects reported. There has been no progress shown on the project I selected, Cell Identity Hunter, for weeks and weeks. I recently noticed that has been true for at least a couple days or the other projects. This is very disappointing as I felt like I was helping with research in some small way. ### 1/5 — …but *2024-07-16, version 2.6.7* The claimed objectives are commendable, but the tracking, fingerprinting and privacy issues are not. When trying to restrict the data scrapers, the program won’t run. I’ve tried deleting and re-downloading but problem persists. ### 1/5 — Updated Review *2024-03-11, version 2.6.4* 3/11/24 My original, more positive review below, but I feel forced to change my rating to 1/5 stars due to the fact that most of the projects do not update no matter how many work units I complete- so there is no point in this app. Sad because many users like myself would like to help with these projects, but cannot with an app that does not work! I love being able to use my phone to help with research. But I would like to offer some feedback to hopefully improve the app. 1. I’ve noticed in the past week, the overall percentage completion on the projects I’ve completed calculations on is not updating. For example, the Cell Identity Hunter project has been stuck at 54.49% for nearly a week. From my experience so far with this project, I know that the crsbmcalculations I have completed for this project in the past week should have increased the 54.49%. 2. It would be nice if the app would utilize my iPhone’s screensaver display setting rather than the app dimming the screen on its own. 3. It would be nice if there was a progress bar showing the progress on each individual calculation. Currently, the only way to tell that anything is happening is the window that shows “x calculations”. In addition to this, some indication that a completed calculation was sent from my phone would be nice. Such improvements I feel would give the user of this app a greater sense of accomplishment. I believe many more users would be attracted to the app if these features were added. 4. Some time back, I suddenly I got an ‘oops’ message. Let it sleep for 24 hours, same message. Another 24 hours, ditto. Removed the app and reinstalled. Same message? Why is this? Is this to convince me to get a new phone? have made numerous contributions! Dann musste ich einmal die App löschen und neu installieren. Allerdings sehe ich danach meine vorherigen, damaligen Berechnungen nur noch unter „Beitrag“ -> „Alle Geräte insgesamt“, und unter „Beitrag“ -> „Meine Berechnungen insgesamt“. Es wäre mir lieber, wenn ich mit meinem Verknüpften Apple Account auch noch die einzelnen Projekte unter den damaligen Berechnungen sehen könnte. Also z.B. dass man da auf die Gesamtanzahl der damaligen Berechnungen draufklicken kann und dann diese pro Projekt aufgelistet sieht. Also die damaligen Berechnungen pro Projekt auch dann, wenn man per Apple-Account oder per Google-Account verknüpft. There’s a lot of visibility of what and how much data is used, what research you can select and the benefits of using the app. Very simple to change the amount of data accessible by the app. ### 5/5 — Very easy to use and you help others! *2024-09-02, version 2.6.7* 1. Start. Needs power and network, preferably Wi-Fi. Plug in your device, go online, open the app, and set your cellular and Wi-Fi data limits. Then tap “Start session”. The display shows seconds passed and calculations done. After a few seconds, it makes the screen very dim and displays a screensaver. That’s it! 2. Your screen will not lock. Because your device is unlocked, you might not want to run DreamLab if other people are around, like in a dorm. 3. Foreground. On iOS, DreamLab cannot run in background, so the session pauses if you open another app, use your device, or lock it. Go back to DreamLab and press Continue. 4. Ends. The session ends if you unplug your device for more than about seven seconds, press “End Session”, or force close the app. 5. Calculation time. My recent-model iPhone runs a Corona-AI Phase 5 calculation in about nine minutes. If it runs full-time, that is 150 calculations per day. An iPad mini 5 takes about 25 minutes or 58 calculations per day. A Cell Identity Hunter Phase 2 calculation takes about eleven times longer. 6. Errors. If you see an error message such as Oops, close the app and try again. If that does not work, it is likely a bug that the developers will fix in a couple of workdays. When they update the app, download the latest version, and carry on. 7. Info. The best source may be the r/DreamLab Reddit. 8. Outreach. Unfortunately, the DreamLab app team rarely reaches out to users. Support is minimal. Most research groups who develop projects for us to run on DreamLab do not reach out. ### 5/5 — A Great Cause *2024-08-27, version 2.6.7* I am proud to have been using both my iPhone and iPad to help calculate scientific calculations with DreamLab, over the past 4 years. Helping the Garvin Institute in help fighting CORONA Virus, cancer research, environmental research and more, through scientific calculations via our smart devices. Supporting the expensive super computers.
