But lately it's becoming very frustrating with the title screen bug of the Black Friday deal that doesn't even let you opt out that forces you to accept a gift that's nothing but a coupon for signing up for annual subscription. The next thing is a massive bug that opens up one of your previous stories and begins automatically writing in it in audiobook form instead of the title menu. I do not want a autoplay feature whatsoever the next plug is that you breathe on the app wrong and suddenly the audio read back feature stops working and switches to a silent highlighting of words like it reading out loud but not. This app has no polish and feels like it is just a beta version of something that could be much much better ### 3/5 — App still has issues *2025-11-29* Despite the last update saying lots of bug fixes, there are still consistent bugs. When you open the app, it immediately tries to take you to subscribe (even if you already are) and after that offers you a deal (even if you’ve already taken it). Then, instead of taking you to the home menu like the website does, it takes you into automatically writing a story that you have to back out of. This happens every time you even leave the app without force quitting. If you accidentally leave the app the whole thing starts over again. It’s a massive pain and they need to really fix this. ### 1/5 — Won’t even open *2025-10-18* I figured I would give this a try, but for some reason every time I try to tap on a story in order to start it the app just won’t open and it’s the same for the website now Don’t know if this is a problem that others have been having but it feels like a major flaw if you can’t even get a story started **Developer response:** Sorry, we were having a temporary outage that day. We have fixed the underlying issue!! ### 1/5 — Unable to export, useless to me *2025-10-02* The stories this app can create are great. However one of the things that it is supposed to do, does not work. You are unable to export any story that you have created. The export button just causes the app to crash. Subscribed but am cancelling due to that issue. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t even make a story? *2026-01-09* The set up for making a story is nice and simple. But I haven’t been able to actually read one. The “generating covers” screen just buffers for 10-20 minutes and then the app crashes. We appreciate it if you update your review once things are working smoothly. ### 1/5 — Loading *2026-01-08* Would love to test this out but when I’m trying to make my account it just keeps loading and loading. “Generating covers..” or “generating characters..” like hurry up.. **Developer response:** Thanks for letting us know about “generating covers/characters” getting stuck during signup. We found the cause and released a fix, so the flow should complete without endless loading. Please try again on the latest version. ### 1/5 — Can’t use the app *2026-01-08* It’s quite literally broken. Every time I put my email, it says it will send in 2 minutes but nothing pops up, even an hour later. I check every inbox but there’s literally nothing…. Which means I can’t use the app. 1 star. **Developer response:** Thanks for flagging that verification emails weren’t arriving. We found the cause and deployed a fix, so you should receive the code within a couple of minutes now. Please try again on the latest version. ### 1/5 — Bugs *2025-12-29, version 1.2* Lots of bugs still, frequent crashes. Audio cuts out. Create chat characters just perpetually stays in creating character. Story perpetually stay in “thinking “. Even after closing app and restarting phone. ### 1/5 — Tough as nails to use *2025-12-24* Graphical interface is horrible, no help button, worst app I’ve ever waisted money on apps out there completely free and far better. But if you rate the app on the Home Screen, it crashes if you tap anything but a five star review, it crashes. So, lower start reviews are never recorded. And if you try and provide feedback within a story, it crashes. ### 1/5 — Developing stories *2025-11-13* The app literally keeps crashing every time I try to go back to my story, and for it to do this after paying for it??? that is absolutely ridiculous. We’ve shipped stability fixes focused on resume-from-library and reduced unexpected quits, so continuing a story should be reliable now. Please update to the latest version. ### 1/5 — i just wanted to check it out *2025-11-12* i just wanted to check this app out but it literally wouldn’t work. it was very laggy and didn’t want to load. just wasn’t working for me sadly. **Developer response:** Thanks for the note and sorry it didn’t load well. We’ve improved performance and startup reliability since then, reducing lag and fixing loading issues. Please update to the latest version, initial load and browsing should feel much smoother now. ### 1/5 — App is unusable *2025-11-09* Endless bugs and it’s constantly crashing on me. I can barely generate stories half the time too because the app keeps CRASHING or I get a “error occurred” message. It’s incredibly frustrating. And to think I PAID for this “service”. We’ve since shipped multiple stability fixes that address the “error occurred” messages and story generation failures, plus improvements to reduce app crashes. Please update to the latest version, creation and reading should work reliably now. ### 1/5 — Latest update has broken the app *2025-11-03, version 1.1* The update of early November 2025 seems to have broken the app entirely. At load it gets stuck in a loop of pop-ups trying to elicit subscription. Then when the app eventually loads I’ve discovered that it seems to have created three empty stories in my library and chewed through over 400 paid-for credits. I’m very dissatisfied. The only downside is that it won’t let you write about minors (I don’t mean sexually) because it flags it as 18+, so like, the divorced uncle can’t introduce his new girlfriend to his daughter, that was a downside. The first few tries are trial and error while you’re learning the interface but once you get it, it’s gonna suck you in. These pop ups for deals or Black Fridays deals and subscriptions pop up before I can give it a read and doesn’t give me the option to opt out. It’s kinda disappointing. Why is the older style of writing defaulting to the newer? *2025-10-12* I decided to make my story private. However, it defaults to live? Your new style of writing is actually quite long winded, annoying, and I prefer the older style. When I click the older style, it initially starts out with the older style.
