## What is Dredfit?

Open the app — your workout is ready. That's the whole idea.

Dredfit is an adaptive bodyweight trainer that works like a thermostat. No onboarding quiz, no goal picker, no settings. It adjusts every next workout to how the last one went: answer one question afterwards — tough, on plan, or easy — and the plan moves. Already training? Enter what you did, and it becomes the plan.

WHERE IT STARTS
• Day one is three sets of four, in the gentlest variation of six movements: knee push-ups, squats, a glute bridge and the like. About 32 minutes with the warm-up and cool-down.
• That is where you start, not the least you can do: answer "tough" and the plan comes down — an easier variation, or a set off, as far as two sets of four, a session of about 24 minutes. What day one asks of you is the three sets of four. If that is roughly within reach, everything else follows from your answers; if it is not, this is the wrong tool for now — better said here than after you install it.

WHY IT WORKS
• Nothing is ever planned that you have not already done. Your position is two facts: the variation you are on, and the dose — reps in a set, or seconds in a hold. One step is +1 rep (or +5 seconds) in ONE set.
• A harder variation is not handed to you — you try it. At the top of the rep range the last set becomes a probe: one set of the next variation. Manage it and the next workout starts there. Don't, and the plan simply stays as it is — nothing about the working sets is lost.
• A pull in every workout keeps your shoulders in balance.
• Three shortfalls in a row roll that movement back three steps — a breather, not a punishment.
• No streaks, no guilt mechanics, no "we miss you". Ever.

WHAT'S INSIDE
• 59 exercises across 10 movement patterns, and no step up is more than half again as hard as the one before it — bar the one boundary where a hold turns into reps, crossed only by a probe. A chair, a table, a wall, a towel and a step cover 52 of them.
• Optional pull-up-bar module: switch it on and every other workout swaps in a vertical pull, from bar hangs to full pull-ups — the only seven variations needing equipment.
• Guided warm-up and cool-down, both pausable, with time to get ready before every position. Rest timers with a 3-2-1 countdown you can stretch as well as skip, hold timers for planks, and four seconds between any tap and any running clock.
• Every exercise explains itself: three technique steps, two common mistakes, and an "In life" line.
• A Live Activity counts the rest — and a hold — down on the lock screen; widgets in every size.
• Every movement has its own ladder with its own denominator, plus a chart and a calendar. Milestones are calm: no confetti.

YOU DECIDE HOW LONG IT TAKES
• Before you start, Today shows a range: the full workout, and the shortest that session can be made. Inside it you can drop a set while enough of the exercise still stands, leave the exercise, or drop all that is left of a longer one; the minutes fall as you go. The app never picks which movements you leave out.
• An interrupted workout can be continued, even if the app was closed mid-way. Out of time? "Finish now" records honestly what you did.
• Coming back after a break, the plan offers to meet you lower — further down the longer you were away — and catches up quickly, because it follows what you show.
• Rest days you choose, a reminder on training days, export and import of your history as plain JSON, and workouts saved to Apple Health with an estimate of what they cost.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No ads. No analytics. No network requests at all. Your entire training state is a small file on your phone, and it never leaves it. App Privacy label: Data Not Collected — the honest kind.

Free, for iPhone, iOS 17+. In English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil) and Russian.

If you have problems with your joints, heart or blood pressure, talk to a doctor before training. Sharp pain during an exercise always means stop.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.4.2 — 2026-09-18

Since 2.1.0: the hold exercises, the workout you never rated, and the small things a thumb does. The ladders, the ratings, the descent and the comeback are what 2.1.0 shipped; one handle was added beside them — the addition on a hold's summary — and it moves nothing unless you add something.

A HOLD CLOSES ON A SUMMARY THAT KEEPS ITS TENSES APART
• After the last set of a plank or a hollow hold, the cards say what was held, set by set. A set stopped by hand is marked "≈": an estimate is never shown as a measurement.
• Only the last set can be corrected, in five-second steps — on every earlier set the clock was the ceiling, so longer than it counted cannot have been held. The line under the row says so: "Went differently? Tap the last set and correct — the others stand as they ran."
• "Next time" is its own block above Done. It names the plan the app will set; "+" adds five seconds to one set at a time, up to two, and the sentence rewrites itself on every tap. The addition is called yours everywhere it lands: "Your additions" on the rating screen, "+5 s of it is your addition" in history, "+5 s — your addition" under tomorrow's plan.
• The rest between the sets of a hold no longer counts you in twice — the set begins on the rest's own go — and it can be paused.

A WORKOUT YOU NEVER RATED IS NOT LOST
• Leaving the phone on "How did it go?" overnight used to erase the whole session. Inside three hours the card offers to carry on; up to twelve it asks instead — "Rate the workout" when only the rating was left, or Continue / "Finish now" when the workout stopped mid-exercise; only after twelve hours is it recorded on its own, as "on plan", dated to the day it happened.
• A rating can be taken back: "Change the rating" sits on Today and "Change rating" in history, and the other answer lands exactly where it would have landed.
• "Finish now" keeps the sets you already reported; "Finish later" keeps your place.

THE WARM-UP COUNTS THE SWITCH
• The four warm-up moves with a middle run fifteen seconds a half with a counted pause between — "Switch sides" or "Switch direction" on the screen, a tone of its own. Every announced session is one minute longer for it: a clean start reads about 32 minutes where it read 31.
• The waits between positions are shorter: eight seconds to get ready, twelve where the position has to be set up, four to turn over or to be counted in. The stretching itself is as long as it was.

SMALLER
• Settings reads as groups — Weekly rhythm, Equipment, Sounds, Appearance, Health, Backup, About — each name a heading to VoiceOver.
• Appearance holds the app to Light or Dark; the countdown tones can play with the ringer switch off. Both are off by default.
• A warm-up move can be set aside from its technique sheet — three at most, and brought back from the same place.
• The later weight wins: a number typed this morning is no longer overwritten by a Health reading a month old, and the "Body weight" row says where the number came from and when.
• A hold counts down on the Lock Screen too, not only the rest.
• "−" and "+" on the number panel, and on "Next time", take a tap anywhere on their frame, not only inside the ring.

Where it starts — three sets of four in the gentlest variation of each of six movements — and the ladders, the probe and the comeback are what 2.1.0 shipped. Installing this touches nothing in your history: no migration.

### 2.1.0 — 2026-09-03

Holds run hands-free now, and nothing is skipped by a brushed thumb.

HOLDS WITHOUT THE PHONE IN YOUR HAND
• A hold exercise costs one tap. "Start exercise" buys the whole movement: the rest ends by itself, the next set counts itself in, and the phone stays where you put it until the exercise is over. Put it down rather than lock it — a suspended app runs no timers.
• You say how long a hold will run before it runs. "Set the time" raises the planned number — or lowers it on a day when the plan is too much — and every set of that exercise counts down from there, both sides included.
• "Stop · 60 s" names the figure it will write, so ending a hold early is a decision instead of a surprise. A hold ended by tap is written down by three seconds: the thumb arrives after the effort stopped. Inside the first three seconds the button stays plain "Stop" and cancels the set instead.
• A finished hold movement shows all its sets on one screen, and any of them can be corrected — until now only the last one could. Sets that ended under a thumb are marked "≈": an estimate is never shown with the confidence of a measurement.
• A declared time belongs to the movement it was set for, and survives the app being killed mid-workout. The screen for sets of reps is untouched.

NOTHING IS SKIPPED ON CONTACT
• Skipping a set, the remaining sets or a whole exercise now asks first and states what is lost. A workout has no undo, and these controls sit right under the button that logs a set. All four questions look the same, none of them is red, and only a button answers them — so the stray tap that raised the question cannot also confirm it.

THE EASIER VARIATION MOVED INTO THE MOVEMENT'S OWN CARD
• The line offering a gentler version under every row of the plan is gone. It lives inside the card the row already opens, under "variation 3 of 7", with room for what a small line could not say: the movement, its dose, and — on the pull-up ladder — that the rung below counts seconds instead of reps.
• It is offered before a workout and never during one, and it asks before it acts: the way back up a ladder is a probe, not a tap. One line above Start pays for the handle you no longer see, and stands only until you open your first card.

THE PROBE IS WRITTEN DOWN
• History keeps what a probe showed: "Probe: Inverted row (table) · 5 — passed", or "— not this time" — until now the number reached the engine and was recorded nowhere. And the plan says when one is coming: "Then a probe: one set of Bar hang · 15 sec".

YOUR WEIGHT FOLLOWS HEALTH
• The weight your calorie estimate is priced from used to be copied once and never looked at again. It is re-read now at every launch, at every return from the background and at the head of every export. The "Body weight" row says where the number came from, and the editor returns the moment Health has nothing to say.
• The switch that keeps the estimate out of Health is named for what it does: "Leave calories out".

The engine is not changed by a single line: the ladders, the probe, the comeback and where it starts — three sets of four in the gentlest variation of each of six movements, about 31 minutes — are what 2.0.0 shipped, and installing this touches nothing in your history.

### 2.0.0 — 2026-08-28

The engine stopped predicting and started measuring. That is the whole release — and the reason the version number moved.

THE LEVEL IS GONE
• Every movement used to carry a number from 0 to 47, and the app built your plan out of it, including work it had never seen you do. That number is removed. What is left is what you did: which variation you are on, and how much of it. Nothing is planned that you have not already shown.
• Progress is measured in steps now, and every movement has its own ladder with its own denominator instead of one shared scale.
• Your history comes with you. The upgrade carries each movement to the position that matches what it was doing, the journal is read record by record, and Today says once that it happened. Nobody starts over.

A HARDER VARIATION IS SOMETHING YOU TRY
• At the top of the rep range the last set of an exercise becomes a probe: one set of the next variation, in place of the last working set. Manage it and the next workout starts there. Don't, and nothing moves — a probe that falls short costs nothing.
• The library grew from 40 exercises to 59, so the next rung is a step and not a leap: no step up is more than half again as hard as the one before it, bar the one boundary where a hold turns into reps.

YOU DECIDE HOW LONG A WORKOUT IS
• The time budget and the app's own short version are gone. The app no longer chooses which three of your six movements you skip today.
• Today shows a range instead — the full workout, and the shortest that session can be made — and the decisions happen inside the workout: drop a set while enough of the exercise still stands, leave the exercise, or drop everything left of a longer one, with the minutes redrawn as you go.

HEALTH GETS WHAT A WORKOUT COST
• A finished workout now arrives with an estimated active-energy figure, built from the plan rather than the clock and worked out on your iPhone. To do that the app also reads six values from Health, on the device. Nothing read or written is transmitted — there are still no network requests of any kind.

ALSO
• A fresh install now rests three days a week: four workouts, which is the rhythm the app itself recommends on two of its own screens.
• An audit read every screen against the engine and rewrote nineteen places where the words or the numbers promised something the code does not do. Every question that can cost you something now shows the way to say no. Both sides of a per-side hold carry the same load. A count-in stands between your tap and any running clock.

Free, no account, no ads, no analytics.

### 1.9.0 — 2026-08-09

The biggest update the app has had — and it now speaks German, French and Italian.

A MOVEMENT CAN REST
• Muscles giving out and a joint hurting are different things, so they get different answers. Tap "Something hurt" during a workout: the exercise ends, the movement keeps its place in the plan at the same level, and it stops getting harder for its next three appearances. Today says how much of that rest is left.
• How fast a movement may climb now depends on the movement. Calves, the vertical push from the wall handstand up, and every exercise on its hardest variation move one step at a time instead of two. Tissue is not uniform, and this is the only dial that acts before an overload rather than after it.

THE GUIDED BLOCKS
• The warm-up and the cool-down can be paused — for the doorbell, the kettle, a child. Resuming counts you back in, and then the countdown continues from the second it stopped, never from the top.
• Five seconds to get ready before every position, so the timer no longer starts while you are still getting off the floor.

HONEST SCREENS
• Rest can be extended, not only cut short: "+15 s" sits beside "Skip rest", up to twice the rest that was planned.
• "Easy, could do more" no longer promises that progress comes twice as fast — the new ceiling makes that untrue. It promises a direction and says nothing about size.
• The progress chart marks a break of a week or more with a band, so the quiet drop that happens between two workouts no longer looks like it happened inside one.

ALSO HERE, from two versions that never reached the App Store: the widget stops spending its whole daily refresh budget on a timeline that had already expired, two cool-down stretches are counted per side instead of asking you to count, the longest exercise names fit the large widget again, and the calendar footer names the month you are looking at.

Same levels, same history, no migrations — and still no account, no ads and no network requests.

### 1.8.0 — 2026-07-31

The workout is now whole.

• A cool-down closes the workout: six stretch positions, 30 seconds each — in the three minutes every "≈" estimate has reserved all along. Each position explains its technique: tap "technique" and the countdown waits while you read.
• Short on time? Under Start there is now a short version: three exercises of the six, about a third of the time. The other three are recorded as honest skips — no level moves, and the next day the full workout is the default again.
• Side stretches and holds count the switch for you: one side, a five-second "Switch sides" pause with its own tone, and the second side starts itself.
• New installs begin with two rest days a week, and "How it works" explains why 3–4 workouts a week is the sweet spot. Your existing schedule is untouched.
• Technique sheets end with an "In life" line — what the movement gives you outside the app.
• Anniversary milestones compare your first workout with today — "Then: Knee push-up · 3×8 — Now: Push-up · 3×14" — and the share card draws your level curve.
• Widgets now come in every size, up to the lock screen.
• After a 7–13 day break the plan quietly steps one level down per movement, so coming back never means meeting an overestimated plan.
