## What is Driftbound?

Command your ship, build your fortune, and drift ever deeper into a living galaxy.

Driftbound is a relaxing idle space RPG. You get one ship, a very large procedurally generated universe, and no particular hurry. Mine, craft, trade and fight your way from the safe core worlds out to the lawless rim. The simulation keeps running while you're away, so you come back to fuller holds and more credits than you left with.

No ads interrupting you. No pay-to-win. No account to make. Just you, your ship and the long haul.

THE LOOP
- Mine asteroid belts, harvest gas clouds, refine ore and fabricate components.
- Scan deep space for hidden anomalies and rare salvage.
- Buy low, sell high. Every station runs its own economy, so distance is what makes a trade route worth flying.
- Pick up haul contracts and bounty work from the bulletin board.

UPGRADE YOUR SHIP
- Six module slots to fill: engine, cargo, mining laser, weapons, missiles and shields.
- Plenty of module tiers, a perk tree, and rare gear that only turns up a long way out.
- Every upgrade earns a bit faster than the last. That's the whole idle engine, really.

EXPLORE
- Galaxies, then systems, then the bodies inside them, all procedurally generated.
- Plot a course across the gate network and autopilot flies the multi-hop route for you, even offline.
- The deeper you push, the worse the security rating gets. More danger, much better loot.

FIGHT PIRATES
- Idle ship-to-ship combat with shields, weapons, missiles and auto-engaging batteries.
- Winning actually feels like something. There's confetti.
- Fights resolve the same way whether you sat and watched or were miles away. No nasty surprises.

SMUGGLE, AND RUN FROM THE LAW
- Customs scan you at the warp gates. Pay the fine, bribe them, run, or shoot your way through.
- Contraband is worth most if you can get it from the lawless rim into the wealthy core.
- Pick up a bounty and the Sector Police start hunting you. Fit a Smuggler's Hold to slip past, or go and clear your name at a Security Office.

COLLECT AND RAISE SPACE PETS
- Hatch rare eggs in a station incubator. Incubation runs in real time, so it ticks along while you're away.
- Equip a companion for a solid buff and feed it to level it up. Your pets survive prestige.

FLY ONLINE, OR DON'T
- See other pilots docked at your station or out in your sector. Real players, plus a handful of NPC "Residents" that are always tagged ◇ so you know which is which. Anonymous, no account, no email.
- Wave, or spar against a snapshot of someone's ship. Nothing is at stake either way.
- Build a pilot worth showing off: 26 trophies, collectable Outfitter suits, your pets and your duel record.
- Want the quiet version? Turn on Do Not Disturb, or switch the online layer off completely in Settings. It's never needed to play.

A GALAXY WITH A STORY
- A main campaign, five faction questlines, and a pile of side chains on top.
- Earn pilot ranks, fill in the Codex, claim daily rewards, and there are galaxy-wide events every week.

PRESTIGE AND THE LONG GAME
- Re-enlist to bank Renown, then spend it at the Admiralty on fleet-wide perks that stick around for every run after.

BUILT FOR IDLE
- Offline progress runs the same logic as live play, and you get a proper welcome-back summary when you return.
- One active action at a time, on a fixed-tick simulation underneath. It can't quietly cheat you while you're gone.
- Crisp pixel-art ships, worlds and stations, with a calm cockpit HUD to fly them from.
- Playable in 9 languages.

Strap in, pilot. The drift is calling.

### 5/5 — Get this game

*2026-07-19*

This is a masterpiece, it feels genuinely rewarding and the gameplay loop is interactive as you want it to be. I can see myself putting a lot more time into this game.

### 5/5 — Fantastic new entry

*2026-07-01*

A fun and relaxing retro space idle game where you can battle pirates, mine ores, and explore the galaxy at your own pace. The simple graphics and music give it a charming nostalgic feel, while missions and ship upgrades keep things interesting. A great start for a new entry into the store with plenty of potential.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.7 — 2026-09-03

Driftbound 1.7.7.

Rim work: the outer systems carry new sites every week — distress beacons, wrecks, signal caches. Deepest space carries the most, and it rolls over with the weekly event.

Forge rolls: every forged module and gear piece has its own quality, and Artificer IV can re-forge it, never lower. Pledge a faction and finish its chain for two Standing Orders. Search the map by ore. Sell a numbered piece on the Exchange. Two new events, and next week's is shown.

### 1.7.6 — 2026-09-02

Driftbound 1.7.6.

Cancel a forge and the crate now hands back the most valuable thing first. A Heart of the Drift needs a whole cargo box to itself, so if your hold was even slightly full you used to get everything back except it. Crates waiting at other stations are listed too, so nothing can quietly strand.

Resonance Sweep and Deep-Core Survey now actually exist. They were written into the game with real yields at scanning 20 and 30, and then offered by no belt or nebula anywhere, at any level. That is fixed, so they simply appear when you reach the level.

The Undertow has a proper door on the Ship tab instead of one buried behind the story, and it tells you how to unlock it. Eggs now explain themselves, including that no market anywhere buys one.

### 1.7.5 — 2026-09-01

Driftbound 1.7.5.

A stability fix.

Killing things or mining fast enough to land a lot of loot at once made the game redo an enormous amount of work inside a single frame, dozens of times a second. That turned out to be what was on screen in most of the crash reports coming back. It is fixed, so heavy combat and long mining runs should feel steadier.

Nothing else changed in this one. If you were seeing crashes, I would genuinely like to know whether this helps.

### 1.7.4 — 2026-09-01

Driftbound 1.7.4. Four updates in one, since 1.7.0.

REEF PEARLS. They were nearly impossible to find, for three separate reasons stacking on top of each other, and the deepest space could not produce one at all - the exact opposite of what the description promised. All three are fixed, and deep belts now pay the best. Rich fields carry Reef in their name, so you can search the destination list for them.

THE DRIFT EGG can be hatched. It could be forged and then simply sat in your hold, because the Incubator would not list it. Five days now, and out comes a Drift Wyrm or a Drift Moth. The Heart and the Egg also show as made in the catalogue instead of reading as unowned forever.

A FORGE CAN BE CANCELLED. Everything goes back, ingredients and the spare module both, waiting in a crate you collect when you have the room.

Spending perk points no longer stutters or freezes. The Drift Wyrm's downside was giving you cargo instead of costing it. Standing on a rich belt tells you so. Two forged modules that claimed to be Legendary now say Drift. And a black screen after updating is fixed.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-08-28

Driftbound 1.7.0. Trade with everyone, and forge what nobody sells.

THE EXCHANGE. A live board at every station, stocked by other players. List what you have, buy what you need, or post a Want and let somebody else go and find it. Anything you buy arrives as a parcel you collect at any station you dock at.

THE DRIFT. A new top rarity that is made, never bought. Nine materials, gathered from things you already do. A forge that keeps running while the app is shut, and cannot be rushed. Thirty-five things to make with it: modules, gear, paints and a hull nobody sells. Every piece comes out with its own serial number, and survives a re-enlistment.

Duels now show the hull, paint and finish the other pilot actually flies.
