Drive Charge Eat plans your electric road trips around the two things that matter most on a long drive: where to charge and where to eat. Tell it your destination and Drive Charge Eat builds a route with charging stops timed to your battery — then shows the food, coffee, and amenities waiting at each stop, so every break does double duty. WHERE IT STOPS, AND WHY Every charging stop is a real place — a service area, a truck stop, a site with a restaurant — never a row of chargers in an empty lot. That's a filter applied before anything else, not a preference a faster charger can override. Twenty minutes somewhere with food, restrooms and people around is a break. Twenty minutes in an unlit lot is something you endure, and it's worse with children in the car. You choose the restaurant chains your family will actually stop for, and those come first. Anything closed at the time you'd arrive is hidden, not listed. On paired motorway areas, you're sent to the one on YOUR side of the road. ROUTING THAT MATCHES YOUR CAR Set your model once and routing works from its real-world range, adjusted for the day's temperature and the elevation of the road ahead. Charging speed tapers as the battery fills, so the planner models the curve rather than assuming a flat rate — which is why it often prefers two short charges to one long one. You set the minimum charge to arrive at a charging stop with, and separately the minimum to have left at your destination. If anything changes on the road, the trip re-plans from where you are. CARPLAY Full CarPlay navigation, not a phone screen on the dashboard. Turn-by-turn voice guidance, lane guidance where the data allows, the distance to your next charging stop, and the charge you're projected to arrive with — updating as you drive. Change your state of charge from the car screen and the plan updates immediately. EAT NOW One tap shows your favourite restaurants open within about 30 minutes, each with its town and how many fast chargers (100 kW and up) are right there. If the live projection says you'd reach your next charging stop below your reserve, the app now says so out loud and immediately looks for a charger you CAN reach, re-planning from where you are and from the charge you actually have. • Distances measured on the road you're driving. Distance to the next stop, distance to the destination, arrival time and the charge you'll arrive with are now all measured along the route under your wheels — not the route you were originally given. Reroutes and detours no longer skew them. • Two separate battery minimums. Set the charge you want to arrive at a charging stop with, and separately the charge you want left at your destination — now settable all the way to 80%, so you can arrive with range in hand for local driving. • Stops named like the road sign. A stop now carries the name written on the exit sign rather than the charging network's branding, so what the app tells you matches what's on the gantry at speed. • Look up any restaurant. Every restaurant listed at a stop opens a web search in one tap — hours, photos, menu — before you commit to the walk. • Navigate with what you prefer. Hand any stop or your destination to Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps or A Better Routeplanner, and open the stop area full screen to see exactly where the chargers and food are. • Lane guidance on the maneuver card in CarPlay, where the road data provides it. • Fixed: stations that reported chargers they don't have could out-rank better ones, putting a 4-stall stop ahead of a 6-stall station. • Fixed: at very low charge the planner now reaches for the last-resort stop instead of refusing one because it wouldn't meet a comfort setting. ### 1.3 — 2026-07-31 Trip statistics, safer charging stops, and your whole route on the CarPlay map: • NEW — Trip statistics: driving time, charging time, breaks and total trip time at a glance, plus energy used, energy recharged, average speed and battery on arrival. On your iPhone, and one tap from the CarPlay map. • Charging stops now show the name written on the motorway exit sign, so what you read on screen matches what you see on the road. • Rest areas paired on opposite sides of a motorway are never mixed up again — you are guided to the one on your side of the road. • If your next stop reports no free chargers, the app now warns you out loud and offers backup stops you can still reach, keeping your destination. • The CarPlay map now draws your whole route, through every charging stop to your destination — not just the leg to the next charger. • Extra stops you add on your phone now appear in the CarPlay trip plan and on the map. • As you approach a charging stop, the guidance card shows the stop itself instead of a turn further ahead. • Fixed: CarPlay could stay stuck on "checking subscription" for a whole drive.
