### 3/5 — Cornering

*2025-06-30, version 4.6.3*

This app keeps penalizing me for cornering. It says slower cornering is less likely to cause my vehicle to flip. I drive a Civic, not a truck or SUV that has to slow down due to their tendency to tip over. I drive responsibly, but I’m being penalized by the way this app categorizes my vehicle.

### 3/5 — Upgrades

*2025-05-21, version 4.4.5*

My phone won’t let me update to 16.0 or higher to use the app and I’m getting no help here or on the website!

### 3/5 — Could be better

*2025-05-06, version 4.6.2*

The location always on requirement is a drain on device battery. This app and location should only be required when it is connected to sensor.

### 1/5 — Drive Safe & Save

*2025-04-09, version 4.6.2*

!!!!!!!!!!!!!This App has been CLOSED but they are Vague and don’t tell anyone you should Delete it and Usr the actual State Farm App. Everything has been transferred to that one App now!!!!!!!!

### 4/5 — Very helpful, but too sensitive

*2025-04-03, version 4.6.2*

This has been a very good app to help me drive safer, but the app is too sensitive. When I am at a full stop or parked in a parking lot and I use my phone, it registers me as using it while driving. How am I to use my gps when I am at a full stop or parked? Braking and cornering are also too sensitive.

### 1/5 — Planned obsolescence

*2025-04-02, version 4.6.2*

State Farm and Apple force people to buy and use the newest phones because they are too lazy to write software for the older phones and then say they are cutting your discount!

### 3/5 — Customer

*2025-03-27, version 4.4.5*

I have an Apple iPhone 7 Plus that has been updated to a 15.8, but I cannot use my Drive Safe & Save app because it says I need an upgrade to iOS 16 or higher. Not happy and thinking about switching insurance. MC

### 3/5 — Eats data and weirdly sensitive on cornering

*2025-03-25, version 4.6.2*

I had a 1GB data plan and found out that this app was eating up a huge portion of my cellular data in the background. I learned to just disable its usage of cellular, it seems to work fine when it connects to WiFi.

Also the cornering is way too sensitive. I get constant violations in every trip I take for rolling around a corner at 5 mph. I’m not an aggressive driver at all, I just have a small car with a small turning radius? How is it calibrated, because I genuinely think it needs to be based on your car losing traction and not based on how comparatively sharp my turn of my small car is compared to a world of large SUVs and trucks.

### 1/5 — Can’t update

*2025-03-24, version 4.4.5*

It should not have to have a certain phone to update this app so I give it one star

### 1/5 — Odometer reading

*2025-03-19, version 4.4.5*

My phone iso isn’t big enough to load the app, I need to record my odometer reading

### 4/5 — Accuracy isn’t skewed

*2025-02-27, version 4.6.2*

While this app is great, it NEEDs to identify when the vehicle is stopped in park even if you do not get out of the car. Other apps identify when the vehicle is parked and they stop calculating the trips. I checked this aspect yesterday and it definitely does not notice it. Therefore if you want to interrupt a trip because you had to stop fast and have the trip start over it doesn’t allow that.

### 1/5 — App fails constantly

*2025-02-24, version 4.4.5*

App fails constantly and has now updated itself into a no-work state. Just a loop of update/fail screens

And it can’t tell if your UTV is actually driving. Got speeding tags for 70+ mph on I 75 while it was on the trailer behind us heading to the trails. It’s top speed is about 42 mph

Not well thought out.

### 1/5 — No support for older phones

*2025-02-20, version 4.4.5*

No support for older phones. Boo!

### 4/5 — Phone

*2025-02-20, version 4.4.5*

Due to my inability to purchase a new iPhone 16, I am unable to download the State Farm app.
This locks out a huge number of people from accessing State Farm Drive Safe program, on line payments, etc. etc.

### 1/5 — Horrible app. Does not work

*2025-02-18, version 4.6.2*

Trash

### 2/5 — What trip had a phone distraction?

*2025-02-18, version 4.6.2*

So State Farm moved drive safe & save to the State Farm app. Ok. If my dashboard or scorecard actually made sense, this feature would be great. Logging 14 days of trips in the app seems like plenty. My issue is that my score dropped for “phone distraction” but there are no trips with any events that list any phone distraction. 98 is a great score but it’s inaccurate.

### 1/5 — who care about acceleration?

*2025-02-17, version 4.6.2*

I understand all of the other safety metrics, but why would you even include acceleration? Accelerating fast is not dangerous and it is also subjective per vehicle.

### 1/5 — Constantly draining phone battery

*2025-02-14, version 4.6.2*

This APP constantly makes my battery in my phone discharge at a high rate

### 2/5 — Stupid implementation

*2025-02-11, version 4.6.2*

Works well. However, if a passenger has their phone in the car and it connects to the beacon first, they’re unfairly docked for phone use and any other erratic behavior from the driver. State Farm will just tell you that you’re still getting at least 10% off. Just another scam to be spied upon.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — simply terrible app

*2025-07-15, version 4.4.5*

not compatible with my cell

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-07-08, version 4.6.3*

Doesn’t work well at all, sends you in endless loop trying to download then login when I’ve *already* downloaded and logged in. Our State Farm agent agreed it doesn’t work well and said “just call me”. What’s the point of having an app then??

### 1/5 — Bogus

*2025-07-05, version 4.4.5*

I can’t update because my phone is too old.

Okay

### 1/5 — Updating App

*2025-06-17, version 4.4.5*

06/16/25: I cannot update App unless I get a new phone. My iPhone is paid off. SF office told me to get a new phone. Poor...

### 1/5 — Drive Safe and Save APP

*2025-06-16, version 4.6.3*

This has to be one of the most difficult APPS to use. It’s frustrating when you try to do the right thing and still cannot get it to work. For what I pay State Farm monthly, it has thinking.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-05-31, version 4.6.3*

Logging into this app for whatever reason is always a nightmare

### 1/5 — Drains battery

*2025-05-12, version 4.6.2*

Too much of a battery killer. If I don’t turn Bluetooth off this a drainer. I use AirPods often due to work so I have my Bluetooth on often, but with this thing constantly looking for a new connection starts to drain thatbattery faster

### 1/5 — Totally hate this app

*2025-05-07, version 4.6.2*

Why does it require to know where I am all the time? The app requires to be active all the time which really burns the battery on your cell phone. Even the employees at State Farm insurance refuse to use this application.

### 1/5 — Update to 16.0 or >.

*2025-04-24, version 4.4.5*

I can’t update my phone beyond 15.8. Therefore I can’t view my driving habits.

### 1/5 — Joke

*2025-04-11, version 4.6.2*

More like get spied on and used for data and not have us give you an extra fee. Are there any insurance companies that don’t do this nonsense I can switch to?

### 5/5 — Great Experience

*2025-02-08, version 4.6.2*

Highly recommend Bobby Hudson from State Farm, because of him I’m back doing business with State Farm again. long story short
State Farm drop the ball last years for increased the price with out
Informed customers. I calls & talk to several different agent at State Farm. No one’s willing to work with me so I had to moved on to another insurance company. until a few months later Bobby Call me back and let me know the rate is drop so he helped me Save some money. He turned the bad experience to a great experience thank you Bobby for making a difference for State Farm.

P.S.

It not what you sell it how you sell and still take care of the customers
I’m not average customer I’m a loyal customer and walking advertise.

### 5/5 — My Mileage

*2024-12-10, version 4.5.4*

### 5/5 — Best idea ever

*2024-11-29*

I love this app. I always get the max discount even with a few dings. I mean everyone has to hit the breaks now and then so you can’t expect a perfect score but even with an event every few trips it doesn’t really hurt your discount. I honestly can’t see why there are negative reviews. I drive a cmv and carry that driving into my personal car usage too. I always leave at least 3-4 seconds between me and the car in front of me and double that at highways speeds. You almost have to in a higjh traffic area like Albuquerque when you never know when cars will come to a full stop on the highway due to stop and go traffic. As for the rest I mean how hard is it to not go ten miles over the speed limit. I’ve only gotten hit once or twice for acceleration and cornering (except when I was on a mountainous road doing the twenty five mile an hour speed limit and got dinged for every corner)so being a safe driver isn’t hard at all. If everyone would leave room for a couple of semi trucks to fit between them and the driver in front of them on the highway traffic jams would be non existent.

### 5/5 — Good App

*2022-02-21, version 3.7.3*

Me and my wife really enjoy this app, it passes along great savings. I have noticed I do drive a lot more responsibly as well now (don’t speed, don’t get on phone, always thinking about the road ahead to avoid excessive braking/cornering). This is great especially since we recently became first time parents and drive much safer with our baby in the car now.

One recommendation though, if me and my wife are in the car and she’s a passenger. She gets dinged for being on her phone even though she isn’t driving so every time we drive somewhere together she has to remember to turn her location services off. Sometimes she forgets to turn it back on and it misses some of her trips. My suggestion would be to have the app analyze both users phones and select the user who’s phone had the least amount of dings during the trip (ideally the actual driver should have less dings then the passenger in any case).

### 5/5 — I

*2020-09-28, version 3.5.3*

The drive safe and save app is still recording my mileage saying I’m going way over the speed limit when I not and you guys took out savings away on this 6 month plan but no one will give me a straight answer about it not someone from drive safe and save when I call the telephone number or our agent and it’s not right that the app has to be on always for u to record the times we drive our cars and know where we are 24 hours a day you don’t need to know where we are every minute of each and every day I been thinking of dropping our policies back to what we had before we changed it to the million dollar policy we have now if u guys are going to take our savings away from us without any reasons our agent just keeps saying to call drive safe and save and you guys keep telling me to talk to my agent I keep getting the runaround I’m tired of getting no right results

### 5/5 — Too many false speeding events

*2020-02-18, version 3.3.1*

I am a precise driver. I know my speed and I use cruise control to stay at or below the speed limit. The app has frequently indicated speeding events for me, sometimes 30 mph over the limit, and there is no way that is correct. I am NOT using low power mode which can cause problems like this. I have had to call in to customer service to correct these false speeding events, but it’s a real hassle because they want to know so many details (time trip started, time of event, posted speed limit, indicated speed limit) for each of multiple events on a trip. I don’t want to spend time on the phone correcting what shouldn’t be happening because of their app error. I’ve given up calling in the corrections, so I guess I’ll have to live with less of a discount than I should be getting. But maybe State Farm will get a hint from this review to fix the problem.

### 5/5 — Not a true acessment

*2019-10-03, version 3.1.6*

I don’t believe this device provides a true assessment of my driving skills and abilities. While it registers that I am ‘using my phone’, it doesn’t know for sure who is using the phone. So while I am driving, my son, sitting in the passenger seat, is using my phone...NOT me! Yet, it registered that I am using my phone, and marks me down. Or another situation that should not be counted against the driver is when the driver is using the GPS on the phone for navigation. During this instance, the driver isn’t handling the phone, but the phone just instructs where to go. Additionally, when the phone is used in hands-free mode! How is that counted against the driver?
And, it may make me down for braking too fast/hard, but it doesn’t know that a big-rig just pulled out in front of me, and my quick reactions to brake hard just saved my life, along with all my passengers lives...when it was the big-rig’s fault for pulling out in front of me to begin with.
So, I think there are some areas that need some tweaking that needs to be done to make it more accurate.

**Developer response:** We appreciate your feedback! Phone Use is registered when the screen is open and the phone detects movement. It DOESN’T impact your discount. We include it for awareness and to better understand distracted driving. For more information, see FAQs under the “More” tab in the app, or call us at 888-559-1922 Option 2.
