The app constantly crashes, you cannot see what you are selecting in the menu, the app doesn’t remember your settings and resets (date and time) everytime it turns off, it struggles to connect to the camera if you have bluetooth on and your car is connected. The app hasnt been updated for 2 years!! Got the 300w for a Christmas present and when I go to download my clips it just crashes. Won’t even let me view anything that is saved to the memory card. Would expect this from a cheap dashcam but not a big brand such as Nextbase. If I could rate it 0 I would, if you ever need a clip you better off using your laptop, which kind of defeats the object. ### 1/5 — Connects perfectly BUT *2021-06-06, version 1.0.1* No problem installing App or in connecting to Nextbase 300. Phone shows live picture no problem BUT try to access list of recordings and the App bumps you out! Useless for reviewing recordings and as it’s illegal to view live footage on your phone it renders the App totally useless; unlike the dash cam which is a good bit of kit for the money. ### 1/5 — This app is rubbish *2021-04-29, version 1.0.1* Constantly crashes. I can’t see the text. The icons I can just about see but I have no idea what they do. Downloading more that one recording just doesn’t work. When watching a recording the menu options do nothing. The list of issues just goes on and on. This has the feel of someone developing an app as a school project and then giving up through lack of talent. I’m summary: sort it out. This app will definitely stop me from buying another Nextbase camera if it’s not sorted out. By the looks of things though I very much doubt Nextbase are reading their reviews. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Waste of money *2025-12-22, version 1.0.1* Bought a nextbase dash cam as I wanted one that doesn’t glare at night, so purchased a 300w. The app has had multiple ongoing issues from not connecting to crashing. I have spoken to nextbase but 6 months on, I’m still waiting for a resolution which is very frustrating: NEXTBASE GET THE APP SORTED! ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2025-03-21, version 1.0.1* I reconnected my 300w after it being off car for a while after an accident the live view doesn’t work although camera still recording it doesn’t play the videos any more you need to view them on a computer worst app ever ### 1/5 — Doesn’t shows live view *2025-03-15, version 1.0.1* The software is off no help at all disconects frequently you can’t see live view . Can not download videos using the phone app - need to remove the SD card and attach to PC - completely useless app, I’ll never buy a nextbase product again - app not updated for 5y - laughable. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2024-09-18, version 1.0.1* Just shows black screen when looking at live video..when you try & view the video it also just shows a black screen..if you download the video it works ok…but everything else when it shows recording is black…I got so frustrated I ripped the dash cam of the window & stamped on it..threw it in the bin then deleted the app…never again will I have anything to do with nextbase. ### 1/5 — Completely useless *2024-06-06, version 1.0.1* Don’t by a nextbase system if you’re expecting it to have an App, this does not work. 300W Nextbase dash cam now worthless. ## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Excellent *2021-01-20, version 1.0.1* I followed the instructions set by another reviewer on here and it worked absolutely fine. Please don’t listen to those who claim it does not work. As for the app itself - aside from being a little slow in places it works just great. A couple of updates to fix performance/speed issues would be welcome but that’s all really. ### 5/5 — Very easy to setup *2020-12-19, version 1.0.1* Really can’t see what all the fuss is about problems setting up. SD card in. Charge up, install app on phone, press WiFi button on camera for 3 sec’s, heard bleep, checked phone in WiFi settings and saw Nextbase 300, connected, entered pw 12345678 and away it went. You don’t need a degree in datacomms to do this. Oh by the way I’m 67. ### 5/5 — Not clear but not difficult *2020-08-24, version 1.0.1* Smashing little camera, really impressive and easy to install. Contrary to previous reviews, I found it easy to set up although I had to work it out for myself - but got it right first time. Phew. 1) Connect to power supply 2) Insert SD card 3) Press Wi-fi button 4) Go to settings on your mobile device and connect to ‘NEXTBASE 300W EBB’ 5) Errrrrr.... that’s it. ### 4/5 — Works but could be better *2021-09-12, version 1.0.1* Worked without any issues when setting up my Nextbase 300 dashcam and an iphone X with latest iOS. App features for the camera are a bit basic though with only options for disabling the audio recording, disabling the beeps and or voice announcements, formatting the micro SD card, adjusting the sensitivity of the shock sensor and setting the time. Why no control over exposure compensation? You can enable the wifi of the camera to stay on at startup, but it can take a few tries before the app connects, especially if it's recording. I actually use this camera as a rear view device so it's impossible to use the controls on the camera when i'm driving. Also considering how small the 1 minute video files are, they take a very long time to download to the app over wifi. Otherwise works well enough to use with the 300w camera. ### 4/5 — All good so far, just one hiccup *2019-02-27, version 1.0* Had a bit of trouble setting up my commercial dashcam (320) because I didn’t know the WiFi code. However, I rang up the Nextbase support team and they gave me the password over the phone. For anyone wondering the password is a generic one, 12345678. Hope this info helps someone out. ### 3/5 — DOWNLOAD CAM VIEWER INSTEAD *2022-01-08, version 1.0.1* Just spoke to Nextbase support and this app is no longer supported so delete it and download the NextBase Cam Viewer app instead. Worked instantly. ### 3/5 — Some information missing from manual *2020-12-27, version 1.0.1* Firstly the default password is 12345678 Secondly you need to be connected to that network to watch live camera which can be hard if setting up at home Once setup it’s seems ok ### 2/5 — Needs update *2024-08-05, version 1.0.1* After installing the IOS 17.6 update I can no longer view the live screen. The dashboard still registers but I am not able to adjust the camera. ### 2/5 — App no longer shows videos *2024-01-06, version 1.0.1* The app worked well when I set the camera up and also when I reinstalled in a new car a year ago. I find the camera no longer stores the correct date and time! I need to reset each time I get into the car.
