Each time I have been dinged the braking was someone pulling out in front of me, or almost hitting a dog who ran out in the road. It certainly does keep me more aware, which is a good thing. Best of all it has saved me $$ on my premium. ### 4/5 — Good for me! *2026-02-12, version 2.0.2* I have been much more aware I think I am a better driver because of it! ### 2/5 — Not Ready for the Big Leagues *2026-02-02* This app is not calibrated well enough to reliably gauge the safety of a driver. The braking metric does not account for hills or highway speeds which can lead to increased events or otherwise discourage safe drivers from taking appropriate action. The braking metric is stated to trigger events over 1/3 G and yet an event was recently triggered for a stop that figures out to be 1/4 G, below the threshold. The are frequent errors in connecting to the correct driver when both people are in the vehicle or occasionally to any device at all, which somehow results in a decrease in distraction score. In two plus months I don’t have a single actual distraction event and yet my distraction score has gone down on drives where the phone literally never even left my pocket. Overall this product is not ready for the big leagues and needs more time in development before using it to determine how safe a driver is. ### 4/5 — Driveolgy *2025-12-21, version 2.0.2* You make it very hard to ? I believe the hard breaking is too severe. ### 4/5 — Fix the braking scoring *2025-12-02, version 2.0.2* Great app. I do drive more cautiously with the app. However, the braking score is over sensitive. Stopping quickly, not hard, for a yellow light is a one star for the whole trip. Legitimate defensive braking is a ding on your score. Defensive braking is a common event, especially people pulling out of a side street or turning right on a red light. ### 2/5 — Hard Braking Threshold Too Harsh *2025-11-13, version 2.0.2* I have gotten at least 3 hard braking alerts already. Each time was a yellow light turning to red. I drive the speed limit. In our area, though, lights turning quickly. The alternative to “hard braking” is to run a red light, which I will not do. The hard braking threshold is too tight and should be adjusted! ### 3/5 — Overall good, poor at breaking *2025-11-01* Overall pleased with the app but my driving score is being affected by the ridiculously sensitive braking function. I drive down a hill every day to work and if the light at the bottom turns red I get a fail on braking because I'm slowing down on a hill. The sensor thinks the braking is harder than it is. Braking is a strange metric to measure anyway. I slam on my brakes to avoid an accident and get dinged? Makes no sense. ### 4/5 — Great tool! *2025-09-24* We have loved this tool. It keeps us more focused on our driving. The only negative – and the only reason I only gave four stars – is because sometimes it puts the wrong person as the driver. The only way we have found, if two people are in the car, is for the passenger to turn off the Bluetooth and not have Driveology® running in the background. If we both have Driveology® up, and Bluetooth turned on, it often chooses the wrong person as the driver. We can change and say we were the passenger, but we can’t change it to say the other person was the driver. ### 3/5 — Fix the breaking algorithm *2025-08-30* I like a lot about this app, but I agree on the hard breaking complaints. I don’t follow too close, I don’t use my phone while driving, I’m not a distracted driver, but I check and see hard breaking. It’s not. For instance we have highway that has a 55mph speed limit and stop lights. If I’m going 55 and it turns yellow, I slow to a stop and every time I get dinged and it says I may be distracted. First, that’s a legit stop and distance and second, just because a braked doesn’t mean I’m distracted. And on top of that, the amount of points it dings you makes no sense. I have 93% after many miles and months and one hard brake takes me down to 82%. It what statistical universe does that work out. One other thing. When I ride with my wife, I navigate. I’m always dinged fit distractions for using my phone. It’s her car. I never synched her car, her driveology to my phone. I don’t drive her car, but it can’t figure it out. ### 2/5 — Technology isn’t ready in general *2025-07-31, version 2.0.0* If you have a spouse you constantly have to check and see who it thinks drove or you will get dinged. When errors cost money it’s well worth it. Thanks for the program . ### 2/5 — Driving isn’t “cookie-cutter” *2025-06-06, version 2.0.0* Living in a BIG city with high traffic and high traffic related incidents isn’t taken into account at all. So many unsafe drivers that you have to brake for to avoid collisions. Also the app dings you when you’re using navigation on your phone, which is really unreasonable and unrealistic to expect people not to use navigation. Not everyone has navigation or a screen built into their vehicles. ### 4/5 — Great tool *2025-06-01* The app and its execution is for the most part good. It teaches you to become a better driver. The only concern we have is severe braking. If a light turns or an animal runs out in front of you the answer is to use your brakes. If you use your brakes you get penalized for using them. From what I recall brakes were installed in an automobile to stop the car in all kinds of situations. It is what is called a safety item. ### 2/5 — Gentlemen, put your chivalry away *2025-06-01, version 2.0.0* First, every time I take a drive with my wife, I open and hold the door so that she can get into the car first. After the drive is complete and we see the recording of the drive my wife is always chosen as the driver. This app is not intelligent enough to know who is actually driving. Second, it is wrong to say that I am heartbreaking after exiting the highway driving 65 mph to come to a complete stop at exit ramp stoplight. Figure it out your heartbreaking rules are incorrect and the app is reporting inaccurate data to the insurance company. ### 5/5 — Hawkone71 *2025-05-30, version 2.0.0* The app works as described. It would rather have you run a red light than stop for it. I feel like my driving is worse because I have to worry about the braking. ### 1/5 — LM *2025-10-21, version 2.0.2* The app does not work. If I'm a passenger in the vehicle assigned to me, I can't touch my phone or it grades me as if I was driving & using my phone. First I was told to get in after my husband & his blue tooth would connect. Now I'm told I need to shut off my blue tooth. We are late 60's, my husband drives 90% of the time. It grades me poorly cause I do use my phone all the time when I'm a PASSENGER!!! ### 1/5 — Promotes Unsafe Driving *2025-07-30* I’ve felt very unsafe driving while using this app. It dings you for braking 14 mpg in 2 seconds, aka it encourages you to run red lights. That “hard braking” is very reasonable to coast to a complete stop off the interstate on a short ramp. I always stay 2 cars length away and 3 on the interstate. Every one of my “hard braking” was because I was going to literally speed limit and didn’t run a red light. In order to not always get flagged at particularly short interstate (65 mpg) exit with stop lights that’s only 8 seconds long, I have to drive dangerously under the speed limit coming up to the exit in order to not be dinged for braking too hard. God forbid there’s more cars waiting at that exit than I have even less time. If my car doesn’t have any inertia when braking, I think that’s pretty safe and reasonable. Please update the algorithm so that it allows for reasonable braking speeds at red lights or off interstate/highway exits. It’s assuming I’m following too close to another vehicle causing me to brake when I’m not, I’m just driving safe. Please also make sure your speed limits are up to date. Side streets sometimes have the wrong speed limits. ### 1/5 — Braking is Ridiculous *2025-07-15, version 2.0.0* The app really dings you for hard braking when you have no other choice. The last time I checked, brakes were installed in cars to prevent accidents. It’s awful because you cannot control if the driver in front of you will stop suddenly or not. ### 1/5 — Poor Customer Servive *2025-04-28, version 1.1.1* Never once have I had a problem resolved or a promised call returned when speaking with Driveology customer service. I have no confidence in Driveology. ### 1/5 — Great idea if they would fix major errors *2025-04-22, version 1.1.1* Love the idea and concept, but I’ve reported to my agent (the only place you can report an app issue), whose reported to FB, that the app misreports a speed zone as 25 that is 35 (it’s only 25 “when flashing”). So I either get dinged for speeding or create a traffic hazard because I slow down 10 below the posted speed. PLEASE FIX THIS!!! ### 1/5 — App is bad at tracking *2025-01-25* This app is bad at tracking driving. We have 2 drivers and 2 cars in our house and it has no way of distinguishing which of us is driving when both in the car, and no way to correct it after the fact. Secondly, one minor braking incident to avoid another driver pulling out or cutting you off and it automatically deducts so much from your drive score. Not a pattern of hard breaking across the drive, a single isolated incident. This app isn’t sophisticated enough to do the job it’s designed to do. ### 1/5 — No dispute button *2025-01-23, version 1.1.1* I was advised by my agent that a dispute button would be made available to the public at some point in 2024. It’s 2025 and I still don’t have a dispute button. Have also noticed it ding me for things when there are no events included in the trips. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2025-01-17, version 1.1.1* This app was designed for old people. It has no sense on how you drive or what occurs while driving. Every car is different in terms or break sensitivities and other factors. For speeding it uses the basic speeds listed on the government or local websites I’m sure. It better to be flowing with the traffic and causing a problem then driving below the speed limit and causing problems. This app is out of touch with reality. DO NOT INSTALL. ### 1/5 — Horrific Braking Criteria & Driver Options *2024-11-26, version 1.1.1* I was checking my trips in Driveology again today and got totally disgusted about getting another “hard braking “ incident in the Driveology app, so I decided it was time to write a review on a public site, so maybe someone would take notice and finally make some changes. Here is a perfect example of unrealistic criteria. I was coming up to an intersection with a green light, but it changed to yellow and I knew I would not make it through the intersection so I stopped. Driveology gives me a gig for “hard braking “ saying 0.3 g’s in 0.9 seconds.  First off why in the world do they sometimes show it in g’s per second. So I put it through a calculator and basically it was 6mph in just under a second (0.9 seconds to be exact). That really doesn’t feel like something that deserves a one star rating for braking , a two star rating for the trip, and dropping my 2 week score from 100 to 95. Driveology also doesn’t take into consideration what speed you’re going. I’ve gotten a “hard braking incident” when I was going under 15 mph in a parking lot (probably closer to 10 mph). When someone pulls a bad driving maneuver in front of you and you avoid a collision you should get rewarded!! Driveology appears to have a criteria of “hard braking ” for 4-5 mph/second and “severe braking “ for 6 mph/second…that is a horrific criteria. In addition, it’s clear that Driveology considers any “hard braking “ incident a result of tailgating. When you slow down quickly because the stoplight changed you shouldn’t be getting a demerit for stopping at the light versus thinking about going through the intersection so you don’t get a gig on Driveology. Definitely not eliciting the correct driving habits with the current criteria!! Besides the fact the criteria is way too harsh. So, now about the driver/passenger options…there are only three…driver, driver (passenger used phone), and not driving-passenger. I have repeatedly provided feedback to Driveology when asked and this is a big one that they continue to ignore. We should be able to switch the trip to anyone in our Group. (When the tag can pick up more than one driver linked to a tag it doesn’t know what to do so it just swaps between drivers. ) On one such occurrence I switched the trip to Not Driving-Passenger option, but it did not fix the demerits for “distracted driving “. That’s a bad bug!! I NEVER use my phone when driving, but now the app incorrectly thinks so! Also, Driveology is calculating my Farm Bureau auto insurance discount based on criteria that the client isn’t given. Our driving scores were in the 90-100 range for probably 95+% of the year, yet we only received a 20% discount…we get 10% just for using the app! That’s ridiculous!! We should be given details on what goes into calculating our discount so we know what to do better and /or point out criteria that is unreasonable so it can be changed. Farm Bureau, take note…I worked in an industry where we had software systems from a third party and we paid them for the customization we wanted, maybe you should consider that or find a better app. Your company’s name is attached to this app, make it count not detract from your company’s reputation. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — not bad *2026-06-28, version 2.1.0* pretty chill, saves me money ### 5/5 — Easy to navigate *2026-04-29, version 2.0.2* Easy to figure out how to navigate. It has kept me aware of speed limits and I’ve completely stopped messing with my phone while driving. I don’t understand the “braking” thing. I keep getting dinged when I go over the speed bumps on our neighborhood road. That drives me crazy. The speed limit thing does not and probably cannot take into consideration the flow of traffic.
