The scores don’t seem accurate or consistent, and the app doesn’t always seem to match the actual speed limits on the roads. So you get marked as speeding, (It though it was in a 50mph on the motorway. It also flags distractions that aren’t accurate, Example, it has identified several phone distractions when my phone was in either my pocket or my bag. I had a cornering warning on a straight road. On top of that, the app drains my phone battery about 30% when sat in the background. This happens on days when I haven’t been near a vehicle. Overall, I find it unreliable and difficult to trust, and it needs some serious improvement. ### 2/5 — User unfriendly *2026-08-23, version 1.107.0* For some reason it doesn’t seem to understand that I don’t drive every time I’m in a car. I have done 3 drives since I downloaded the app, yet it tells me it’s still waiting for first drive . This is an update. So it has now started working I realise this may of been my fault and not leaving it long enough to register my first drive. I have updated my star rating to show this. It works really well and I’m very pleased with it 😊 ### 5/5 — DriveScore *2026-06-10, version 1.98.0* What a good idea If you drive without braking to hard,not accelerating to hard.You will get an expert driving score.The only problem I can see,if a drunk falls in front of you after walking out from behind a tree forcing an emergency stop.Then your score will go down affecting your insurance premiums.👍🫣 ### 2/5 — Shows your driving but…… *2026-06-01, version 1.97.0* The app itself is quite good and shows your level of driving. But after using it for a few months ready for insurance renewal, it returned insurance quotes of over 2.5 times more in price than my standard renewal price. Great if you want to monitor your driving and thats about it. A wast of time for insurance quotes. For reference, my score was as high as it gets rating me a “pro driver”. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Insurance quote *2026-09-04, version 1.108.0* Quote was twice as expensive as everywhere else, don’t waste your time! ### 1/5 — Not so Good/Safe *2026-08-26, version 1.107.0* In a world where people push to speed or stop almost instantly or cut in front. Driving to get the good score could land you in trouble easy. I am a IAMRoadSmart Advanfed Driver and very safe. But safety teaches you when getting on a motorway joining slow as we have all seen is very dangerous but getting up to speed is extremely important. If you’re behind someone you need to accelerate to get to a safe place and that is just one example. I actually got a good score and just on two breaking points on two drives. And that is my car being safe as it’s one of the safest cars on the road. ### 1/5 — Save on insurance *2026-08-12, version 1.106.0* So much for these promises of reducing your insurance if you use DriveScore tracking or a telematics device in your car, I have score of 965 and insurance quotes coming in much higher than other searches without any tracking details, all a con? ### 1/5 — Rubbish *2026-08-11, version 1.106.0* Apparently I can go from 60 to 0 in less than 1 second and yet I’ve never gone through a windscreen. I’ve been in a car with drivers who braked harshly but it never registered anything. Totally random ### 1/5 — Terrible offers *2026-06-30, version 1.101.0* Used the DriveScore app for well over a year. 365 score in the 950’s and the daily score regularly 850-900 yet the insurance offers were double or triple that of a comparison site. Terrible amount of data collected for no purpose if insurance offered is astronomical. ### 1/5 — As expected *2026-06-29, version 1.101.0* It says it is a way of potentially getting cheaper insurance but it clear from the start it is just a sales platform. Not recommended at all and now deleted from mine. ### 1/5 — Nonsense *2026-06-27, version 1.100.0* I have not driven for over a fortnight as I have been on holiday in Crete and yet with no recorded trips over the period my ‘score’ has dropped by 204 points over period. Conclusion - this app just doesn’t work; it is a nonsense. ### 1/5 — Do not expect any discount *2026-06-19, version 1.99.0* No discount at all in comparison to rates offered by standard comparison sites. ### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish. *2026-06-14, version 1.98.0* Constantly votes me down claiming harsh breaking - even though this is due to other road users (plenty of idiots out there). Doesn’t record all trips despite not being in low power mode. If you let you passengers use your phone for Spotify / CarPlay it thinks you are using your phone whilst driving - which I NEVER do. I am an incredibly safe driver and have NEVER had an accident in 25 years of driving. Just an excuse to track the user and assign a score to them that makes little to no sense. Uninstalling. ### 1/5 — Fraud *2026-06-03, version 1.97.0* This application is nothing but a disappointment. I downloaded it and used it for more than six months, driving very carefully and maintaining a score of 900. However, when it came time to get insurance, they offered me a quote that was even higher than the prices I found through Uswitch and GoCompare. It is really comprehensive and accurate accurate. The only criticism I have is because I drive an EV I am often marked down for hard acceleration. A characteristic of an EV is that their instant torque means that they take off as soon as the throttle is touched. I tend to moderate my speed by driving using one pedal and not using the brakes very often. However, when I do so I get marked down for hard braking.
