It also doesn’t care if you’re only using maps. So regardless of whether you’re driving, you will get dinged on phone usage if your phone is on for any reason in the car. ### 2/5 — Speed does not seem accurate *2026-06-25, version 4.0.6* I just started having to use this app, and it is NOT accurately tracking my speed. Having to use an app to track my driving is so Big Brother anyway, and I hate this whole idea. Two stars only because routes seem accurate and braking seems accurate, but speed is NOT accurate. ### 3/5 — Decent, but has major improvement opportunities *2025-11-24, version 3.18.0* Figured I’d do my due diligence and leave a pretty honest review. This app works great, except for a few areas. First, it does a pretty decent job of tracking exactly what you’re doing on your drives. The map data isn’t entirely too accurate, despite leaving multiple reports on the app. For example, I-465 in Indianapolis switched from a 55 mph zone to a 65 mph zone about 6 months ago. It still states that it’s 55 mph and I get dinged on it about once every 30 seconds or so. It also says I-69 in Bloomington is a 55 mph zone. It never has been 55 mph and there’s no signs to indicate that it is 55 mph (it’s really 65 mph). Secondly, the Hard Braking detection is very wack. Every time I approach a green light that turns yellow (and I have to hit the brakes), it always dings me for at least three of four Hard Brake incidents. Third, the live speed isn’t always accurate. I live in a place where there’s always an officer camping on the side of the road. I know to never even touch the speed limit… however, it will say I go 50 in a 45 zone. Overall, the app is pretty solid and does a good job with giving you decent information about your driving habits. The flaws of the app really make it difficult to work with or even trust the information is accurate when giving you a driving score. 2 stars seems low, and 3 stars seems high - so I guess I’ll give them the benefit of it all so someone on the marketing team can be “happy.” ### 4/5 — Nighttime driving *2024-11-30, version 3.18.0* Overall I think it does a fine job tracking my drives. However, I work second shift, so I dislike I get a 0 for nighttime driving. I can’t help it bro it’s when I work lol ### 1/5 — Second try on this *2023-12-11, version 3.17.0* This is our second try on using this app after meeting with our agent. Both my wife and I downloaded and signed up And immediately noticed it draining our battery. Disabled it and battery is back to normal. We also live in a rural area and it puts the speed limit at 30 for all unmarked county roads. Shutting it off again. ### 2/5 — They can keep the discount *2023-11-20, version 3.17.0* Just using the app interface gave much higher anxiety than my bill without the 10% discount. I would rather pay the full bill and never have to see this app again. And which genius marketer thought it was smart to associate pleasant safe driving with the bloody red color all over the app!! What failed marketing school have you been too, if you ever have been to one. ### 1/5 — Inaccurate app *2023-08-28, version 3.17.0* I just started using this to save a little money on insurance (which just went up - again). The app has me as hard braking on shirt trip to town I just took and I didn’t even brake where it says I did. Also has me speeding at 50 in a 45 and that road does not have a lowered limit anywhere on it. This information they gather is NOT accurate. I’m sure they will use this as an excuse to not give me any savings on insurance. Tomorrow begins the search for another insurance company. ### 1/5 — Worse App Ever!!!! *2023-04-16, version 3.16.1* By far worse app i have ever used. The developer needs to find another business cause clearly they don’t know anything about applications. Rarely gets updated then once it does get updated it’s worse than the previous versions. ### 1/5 — iPhone user *2023-04-15, version 3.16.1* I have problems with this app. I called customer support and they said it was the apple update. Sure wished it worked better. ### 1/5 — Worthless and difficult to use *2023-04-15, version 3.16.1* I decided to install this in order to get a discount on my car insurance with Farm Bureau and it is the most useless app I’ve ever downloaded! It worked accurately for about one month and now I can’t open it to see anything!! It just spins and spins and spins, showing that it’s trying to do SOMETHING but nothing happens. Then I get a notification that there has been no activity for a week when I drive at least 20 miles a day. Now my insurance will go up again because I haven’t used the app, even though I’m TRYING to use it - it’s not working!!!! Come on, Farm Bureau. It’s 2023. Get it together. Hire quality developers. I’ve deleted and reinstalled this app multiple times hoping to get it to work. Even my insurance agent can’t seem to help. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS! 😡 ### 1/5 — Constantly have to uninstall and reinstall app. *2023-04-01, version 3.16.1* App keeps locking up and has to be uninstalled and reinstalled. App design is terrible. I ride to work with someone so I’m constantly having to go in and ignore trips. There should be a pop up that asks if you are the driver or passenger every time the app starts to log a trip. That would be way more user friendly. ### 1/5 — Dumb rating system *2022-11-11, version 3.16.1* I almost exclusively drive in the dark during the week, between early mornings and late nights, I get a zero on night time driving, my other scores are at around 3-4 stars but my overall is 1 and a half? Terrible rating system. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Bad app *2026-08-19, version 5.0.0* Terrible app. Shows extreme braking but I have never spilled a drop while driving. This is a new version but no better than the original which counted riding on a cruise ship as driving. ### 1/5 — Unclear and Unreasonable grading system *2026-08-13, version 5.0.0* I drive for UPS, and have a monitor in my truck for speeding and hard breaking, and a camera to detect if I’m driving while distracted. I can drive all day long without any incidents being reported by the monitoring systems in my own truck, but DriveTrend will say I had multiple hard breaks and instances of distracted driving. Before the most recent update, I was rated a five star driver. Since the update, I’m currently considered in the bottom 10% of drivers. It’s such a stark contrast with how the app used to grade my driving, and with my own monitoring systems that I believe they’re intentionally falsifying and dragging down grades to give shallower discounts. ### 1/5 — Why *2026-08-11, version 5.0.0* Just lost all my progress, all my trips, & miles! After they updated this app ### 1/5 — Great Intention, But Highly Flawed, Heavy Handed and Inaccurate *2025-01-08, version 3.18.0* I first would like to acknowledge that I believe after using this app, I have become a safer driver. Knowing the app is tracking me, I stay to the speed limits and never touch my phone, as even changing a song or taking a call register as phone usage while driving. However, my main complaint, which I believe is a HUGE flaw in this app, is that when I am a passenger, if I do not remember right away to go into the app and select a drive and choose the ignore this trip option, it will automatically be locked down and assigned to me. This is insane!! You are actually being graded and tracked by the app automatically as a driver anytime you are in a moving vehicle! When I first had the app, I had the ability to confirm that a drive was me in the driver seat. Or I could ignore the trip if I was the rider. Something changed a couple months ago though, I assume through an update, and now ALL drives are automatically assigned as me being the driver. There is a very short window of time that you have to change those drives in the app to the ignore drive option. If you don’t do that within a couple days, the app assigns the drive to you. So for better or worse, I’m seeing all kinds of drives in here credited to me. Which I think is absolutely ridiculous and obviously highly inaccurate and inappropriate. Supposedly regardless of the scoring I will save at least 10% on my car insurance. But I despise the idea that my insurance company is collecting and assigning inaccurate information on me. To be honest, while I initially saw the app to be beneficial, this heavy handed automatic assignment is encouraging me to delete the app and not use it. As this confirms the fears I had before putting the app on my phone in the first place. ### 1/5 — App *2024-12-27, version 3.18.0* If you can opt out of using this app. It discriminates against night night shift workers. It also does not let me confirm that all the trips I’ve taken have been me driving. Not to mention your scores don’t even add up correctly. ### 1/5 — Too many issues *2024-11-17, version 3.18.0* This app is difficult to navigate and needs to be more adaptable to user preference. I have 3 notifications showing on my app icon, but when I actually go into the app, there are no notifications. The app won't record my husband's drives to the point that he is getting messages about losing the discount, all due to the app issues. I hate that it auto confirms trips if I have been on that route before. My husband and I drive the same roads and alternate driving. If I forget to "ignore" the trips, then his drives are affecting my scores. ### 1/5 — Kicked me off after two days. *2024-09-25, version 3.18.0* Installed it and seemed to work fine for two days. Got in my truck and it wanted me to log in again, but all credentials were invalid and no recovery email ever came. Even tried just re-registering with no success. Zero stars. ### 1/5 — Extremely Inaccurate *2024-09-22, version 3.18.0* I have this app so that I can get a discount on the insurance, but it’s incredibly inaccurate and can’t distinguish between driving on roads vs being on a train or on a boat in the middle of the ocean. I got back from vacation and have several speeding, hard breaking, etc notes for when I’m on trains or on the Cruise. They should really update the system to reflect railway systems and other forms of transportation. The train I will give leeway for, but when your in the middle of the ocean! ### 1/5 — 👎 *2024-04-06, version 3.18.0* Not sure how I’m rated so poorly when I drive the speed limit and don’t pick up my phone. Will not work unless it set for always. Can you please find a better solution for the option of only when in use! It is NOT designed to be punitive, only to make one a safer driver by knowing how they perform as a driver. Then it’s on auto pilot. It only records trips where your phone goes. You could be a passenger or driver. It does not affect your rates.
