### 2/5 — Not tracking correctly

*2026-06-13, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

The app has not being picking up each and every trip of mine. There is no way to input the data that is missed. It doesn’t provide accurate data and is not very user friendly

### 2/5 — Monitored 'n Nervous

*2026-02-17, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

This app makes me nervous about my activity especially for cellphone usage. My cellphone was in my pocket and it detected as I used my cellphone. I'm extra cautious about braking and spacing and everything. I feel I rather pay extra for so I am more relaxed at driving. 1000km is far away.

### 1/5 — Not reliable

*2025-09-16, version 7.5.2 (1156)*

This app isn’t accurate at all. My car has firm suspension with manual transmission and keeps detecting harsh braking. Very frustrating!!!

### 1/5 — Doesn't record trip properly

*2025-09-04, version 7.5.2 (1156)*

I've been told to renew a new recording discount, but this New version app doesn't record proper trip, and sometimes it EAT UP your trip!! A manual toggle of TRIP STARTS and TRIP ENDS should place back(as the old version)

### 1/5 — Not accurate at all!

*2025-08-30, version 7.5.2 (1156)*

There’s no way this app is accurate. My husband and I both have the app and were in the same car together. We got different breaking numbers (16 vs 0). When I reached out, I was told they were unsure why it would be different.

### 1/5 — Unstable app

*2025-08-19, version 7.5.0 (1149)*

Even u arrived and fully parked, don’t touch you phone, can’t pick up the phone either, app count it as Using phone. And if you have to using your phone for road map/close garage door before you leave the house etc, it all counts.

### 2/5 — Flawed

*2025-07-29, version 7.5.0 (1149)*

I have noticed your app have given braking on a slow turn, I always control my vehicle way before without applying breaks and slowly glide towards my turn, that’s a empty road and no way 13km/ per second has the speed gone down and it always the same spot…

### 1/5 — Hard breaking alert during walking :)

*2025-06-18, version 7.3.0 (1118)*

Every time I take the subway, this app incorrectly shows that I'm speeding and hard braking on subway line—despite not driving at all. Even when I’m just walking around my neighborhood, the app logs it as a driving trip and flags hard braking events. Seriously?

I’m constantly forced to review and correct these inaccurate trips, which is time-consuming and frustrating. This undermines the entire purpose of using the app to promote safe driving.

I strongly recommend that Allstate work with a more capable development team to improve the accuracy of this system. As it stands, I’m seriously considering switching to a different insurance provider with more reliable technology.

### 1/5 — Dishonest app

*2025-06-04, version 7.3.0 (1118)*

Allstate uses this app so they can follow you. It will follow you where you drive. If you go to the bathroom and bring your phone, it follows you there too . If you’re asleep, Allstate knows when you’re asleep. If you’re exercising or not exercising, Allstate monitors that too. And it’s all under the dishonest guise of giving you a discount. It’s been months and Allstate has given me no discount. I don’t recommend the app unless you like people watching you. And if you like that, then send me the passwords to your video cameras so I can watch you as well.

### 1/5 — Unfair phone tracking after the ride

*2025-05-03, version 7.3.0 (1118)*

Such a stupid app, even after you finish your ride and walk away from your car, if you use your phone, it still registers as phone usage and affects your record.

### 1/5 — Stupor app

*2025-04-24, version 7.3.0 (1118)*

Allstate asked me to install this stupid app, when I stop to buy coffee or at my office desk, or return home, if I touch the screen, it showed this is a fault. How a stupid app. And more stupid fault while driving.

### 1/5 — Braking in the app.

*2025-04-10, version 7.1.1 (1096)*

App does not read accurately what so ever, I drive a standard car, app is counting my clutch movements as breaking on the car.. app is broken, seems more like a ploy to get ya to download the app, but chances of ya getting a discount pretty slim to none.. used the app for a day and a half, drive like an old man to say the least.. very smooth. But still getting dinged on braking when I’m clutching in the car.. seems like a massive waste of time.. need to find a solution to this, or upgrade the app.

### 1/5 — Drains battery, invades privacy, dump UI

*2025-03-28, version 7.1.1 (1096)*

The only app I have seen that can’t auto complete security code. After login, the tutorial is so long that it is literally stupid. Demands location service at all times, good job killing my battery. Waiting for next insurance deal.

### 1/5 — Battery drainer

*2025-03-08, version 7.1.1 (1096)*

How dare you asking me to have location always on? You want to track me while inside my home?

### 1/5 — Worst tracking app!

*2024-11-04, version 7.1.0 (1092)*

Extemely inaccurate app!!! It always records me with phone usage when all I'm doing is leaving the navigator on without touching the phone. Another example, I drove to Tims, got out of car, order and take phone out to pay, get back in car, drive back without touching the phone again. And yep it recorded the trip with phone usage when the only thing I did was using phone in Tims Hortons while not driving at all.

### 1/5 — Inconsistent

*2024-09-25, version 7.0.3 (1067)*

Both me and my wife have iPhones.
On the same ride two brakes were detected on my wife’s phone, itching on mine, but it was normal driving!
I’ve changed my phone a week ago, since then at least a brake is detected daily… but in the last three months I almost had no brakes detected.
Somethings not right, I never go over 120km and I always keep distance from the car ahead.
Very disappointed in this app.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2024-07-23, version 6.3.1 (1035)*

Don’t even know how this is legal. Awful company, awful app, shocking service.

### 2/5 — App detect normal breaking as harsh breaking

*2024-07-20, version 6.3.1 (1035)*

App is not designed well, it will assumed harsh braking even you put the brake lightly. I think since it’s going to measure your driving with wrong algorithms it will be not be fair to consider a discount parameter. I think designing such an app requires a lot of data to be ingested to make analytical decisions, since they detect light braking as harsh that denotes they don't have enough driving data and decision made on insufficient datasets could lead to wrong interpretations which why this app is horrible.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Penalizes working 9-5 and travelling with highway speeds

*2026-07-15, version 7.8.0*

The recent update made it so that you have to open the app after EVERY SINGLE TRIP to confirm you drove. This is obnoxious but not the worst part. It categorizes each trip into low, medium, and high risk. Low risk trips are dawn to noon, Medium is afternoon to early evening, and High is every other time. If you work 9-5, you’ll be labelled low risk in the morning and medium risk going home, which means your discount will be capped no matter how good your driving is. Add to this that it flags speeding at speeds of 125km/h, but it’s really bad at estimating your speed. Great if you travel cities only, but as soon as you travel into those new 110km/h zones of highway and you’ll be penalized to no end for travelling with traffic. Oh and any notifications that pop on your phone (even in your pocket), hands free calling, Apple wallet, or setting up your car ride podcast before driving all hit you for phone use. This thing had better never count against credit score like John Oliver reported or we’re doomed.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2026-07-06, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

Does not work half the time and can’t re- login. Provided by Allstate insurance company but it doesn’t work!!!

### 1/5 — App stopped working suddenly

*2026-07-05, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

Looks like developers don’t look at the reviews

### 1/5 — App is not opening

*2026-07-05, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

It stopped working after iOS updated . It stuck on loading screen

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2026-06-18, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

Thinks I’m on my phone if I get a message even though it’s connected to car play

### 1/5 — Highly inaccurate App

*2026-03-16, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

Good side for insurance to track your driving activities but seriously this app has a lot of things needs to change, incoming calls flagged to be a phone usage while driving and seriously would you have to suddenly break on an icy road? I got a lot of flagged breaking, who ever created this app seriously you have to see your doctor. The Intact drive tracking system has a better app than this, this is pure garbage.

### 1/5 — Wrong Flags for Phone Usage

*2026-02-17, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

Keeps on marking phone usage even if I have not used it at all during driving. Please ask devs to fix it. This is a major bug. The app might be counting itself as the one being used at the moment. Or maybe the maps. since it's mostly open all the time.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2026-01-16, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

It flagged as phone usage for incoming messages when I haven’t even touched the phone or used any voice assistant. This is ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Terrible app, terrible outcome, not recommend

*2025-12-21, version 7.7.1 (1179)*

Trash

### 1/5 — bad app

*2025-12-14, version 7.6.1 (1167)*

Every time my phone rings because of notifications, app thinks that i’m using my phone

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works great

*2025-09-12, version 7.5.2 (1156)*

Works great on my iPhone 12, it’s nice to see my trip history and keep track of my driving patterns

### 5/5 — Saved me lots of $

*2025-07-11, version 7.4.1 (1138)*

Overall it was easy to set up. Saved me 10% and 24% the next year. I would recommend it to others

### 5/5 — Got 6 consecutive 30%s awesome

*2024-04-08, version 6.3.1 (1035)*

The braking count is confusing but pl ignore and drive as usual carefully. I got 6 consecutive 30%s inspite of braking counts (upto 12 max in a month), zero speeding kms and a lot of phone usage (bluetooth calls counted).

So overall i am very happy. Donno how exactly this final 30% honored during next renewal but will update here.

### 5/5 — Give it at try!

*2023-11-02, version 6.2.2 (1000)*

This app is very accurate and I do hope I receive a decent discount upon rewnewal otherwise I’m opting out.

### 5/5 — A bit of savings

*2023-01-18, version 5.1.0 (925)*

Saved 25% but that dosnt apply to your current policy it’s applys to the renewal so a little bit of info

### 5/5 — Everyone rating 1 star is a competitor robot or bad driver.

*2022-02-09, version 4.5.2*

The app is not overly sensitive to harsh braking, it has only marked it when I’ve genuinely had to slow down quickly. Also, the phone usage is clearly stated to have no impact on your insurance premium so there’s no reason to worry about false flags.

### 5/5 — Discount

*2021-10-06, version 4.5.0*

I got another 18% of discount on my renewal this year

### 5/5 — False hard braking isn’t counted!! 👍

*2021-01-08*

I read a lot of negative reviews about this app in regards to hard braking incidents but the false reports for hard braking aren’t counted towards your score.
I am receiving 10% off my car insurance JUST FOR TRYING this app and the ability to earn up to 30% off my policy at my renewal. I can’t be penalized even if I’m a terrible driver. So in my eyes it’s a no brainer. Why would I want to pay more to an insurance company if I don’t have to?

### 5/5 — A+. Non-Obtrusive and Helpful Safe Driving App.

*2020-11-20*

Many of the false braking signals reported by other reviews don’t actually get counted towards the final score. They are often due to GPS or slow phone cell signal/processor/dead-spot issue errors for many users. My understanding and experience is the Drivewise app takes those errors into account over 6 months. You can also call in to service support to report any significant errors. No need to stress out. I freaked out like everyone else in the first month when not used to seeing false gps braking messages. Calmed down after talking to Customer service, and seeing my cumulative score of 23% in the second month. Learned to improve my driving, and finally got a 29% score after 6 months. The false brake messages will always be there, even if you learn to drive like a 30mph/50kmh defensive snail-car-race slow-braking driver, with 8 seconds distance between cars. The app takes into account all nuances and gives you the right score.

I took a scientific approach to assessing this Drivewise app and service, based on the experience of two different drivers. With careful driving (keeping a good distance between cars at all times, looking at the horizon rather than the pavement or car bumper of the car in front, staying at or under the speed limit, avoiding aggressive braking or acceleration that can cause unexpected harsh/dangerous braking situations, and especially rescheduling most daily errands/tasks and appointments to low risk traffic periods such as weekends or weekday mornings), one can easily receive a discount as high as 25-28%.

Again, many of the harsh braking events mentioned by other users are due to Cell Phone GPS errors which don’t count toward the driving score. Helps even the most careful of drivers improve probably their driving remarkably.

Life saving app. Trusts that you won’t do silly, banned illegal things like use your phone while driving.

Drive safe. Phone Centre Help-Desk reasonably helpful. A+.

### 4/5 — Pretty Accurate

*2024-03-08, version 6.3.1 (1035)*

I see a lot of reviews about it not being accurate but I’ve been using it for almost a month now and everything is accurate. I don’t have any issues with “hard braking” like other people have said. Only thing I have to complain about is if you have CarPlay, it will say you used your phone, even if you didn’t touch it or the screen that controls it. You can be parked in your driveway and it will say you used ur phone. So that’s one really annoying part that needs to be fixed. Other than that, everything else works great!
