Running this App on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and I can’t see my drone. I’ve read through the comments and understand that WiFi reception isn’t supported, so am I to assume that the Mini3 is not broadcasting RID via Bluetooth? My purpose is to be compliant with the rules. I have had an AMA membership for many years because I wanted to comply with local flight clubs and use their fields. I am not a 107 pilot but I have my drone registered and I have completed the TRUST certification. I fly for fun and recreation only. Please let me know if there is a setting I need to provide so that Drone Scanner works. Thank you ### 1/5 — Not picking up DJI Mavic *2024-08-18, version 1.15.3* This used to pick up the DJI Mavic but now it doesn’t. DJI says the remote id is broadcasting; otherwise it wouldn’t take off. So, what’s going on Drone Scanner? Don’t try and use Drone Scanner if your using an Apple IOS device. The developer acknowledges that their app doesn’t work with Apple. This is on their website yet they continue to have their product in the Apple App Store. When downloading the app it tells you it will work on your brand/model phone. One reason I choose to be with Apple is they protect their users from App developers and their lack of standards to protect their customers from apps that will conflict with the best interest of their users and their big $$$ phones. I started using this app on my iPad and iPhone when it first came out. But I could not see my Phantom 4, my Autel EVO Ii or my DJI M2EA - all of which have RID via firmware upgrade. I used Holy Stone’s RID modules broadcasting via Bluetooth 5. As stated by the app developer and many online sources, Apple devices are not allowed to open their WiFi, and many of the drones use the WiFi versus Bluetooth. Being somewhat OCD, I wanted to really see if my three drones were really outputting RID like the manufacturers claimed. So…. After hunting, I found a great device, albeit a lot of money, that ACTUALLY CAN read the WiFi and Bluetooth signals from the drones, and then rebroadcasts locally to Bluetooth, so this app reads that VERY WELL I am pleased beyond measure - no more external module, relying solely on the drone’s output. The device is made in and shipped from Norway and is called Dronescout Bridge, made by Bluemark. (see the models at www.dronescout.co) They have four versions $99, $149, $129 and $79. (Plus shipping and custom fees) The less expensive has an internal antenna and hence the receiver distance is less. The most expensive one comes enclosed in a little case with external antenna, has almost a mile reception and is powered by usb-c connector. With the REMOTE SCANNER APP here, you can see multiple drones in the air at the same time. Awesome. I realize you can buy a whole bunch of RID modules for that money, but you will be stuck with Bluetooth reception only. If you are a ‘perfectionist’ and have some ‘extra’ money for this hobby or business, do it! ### 5/5 — Works as advertised *2025-06-09, version 1.20.0* Shows the FAA id and all the parameters ### 5/5 — Install this on Android *2025-05-27, version 1.20.0* This app works better on an Android device. Most drones broadcast RID on wifi, so your iPhones wont detect them. However the iphone app works about as well as one could expect for a bluetooth-only scanner. ### 5/5 — Works Perfectly for Bluetooth RID *2025-04-22, version 1.20.0* This app is super easy to use to get RID data on an iPhone. It works exactly as advertised. As clearly stated it won’t work for DJI that uses WiFi-based RID, so all the people leaving reviews saying it doesn’t work for DJI are just a lost cause. I normally would not post a review, but this had a low rating, and seems to be the only app that will scan these devices in the whole App Store. ### 5/5 — My iPhone works great with this app *2024-06-26, version 1.15.3* I work for a drone company and we manufacture our own drones. They have RemoteID installed and we use this app for testing. This app works great on my iPhone 15pro. It displays telemetry data exactly as our engineers are expecting. Yes, we have a Bluetooth module on the aircraft that is dedicated for RemoteID broadcasting. I really like how the app looks. We test with other RemoteID detection apps and they do not have a clean GUI like this one does. It’s a nice app, thanks developers! ### 5/5 — Excellent Remote ID Scanner *2024-05-23* Well designed app works perfectly for detecting and displaying UAS remote ID transmitter information via Bluetooth. I use it primarily to verify my remote ID module is functioning properly. ### 5/5 — Drone Scanner app won’t recognize that location is turned on. *2024-03-07, version 1.11.2* I’ve loaded Drone Scanner on one of my iPads, but when I open it, it stays stuck over Prague. The fault message says location must be turned on. It is. On my other iPad the app finds my location immediately. I’ve loaded the app on my Android phone and it goes immediately to my location. It works fine. The only problem is it will not put a shortcut icon on my screen and can only be opened from Play Store or the phone’s app list. What’s up? I give the app five stars for working on my Android phone. I’ll wait to rate its performance on my iPad if it the problem gets fixed. ### 5/5 — This app actually works very well *2024-01-11, version 1.8.1* The app reads Bluetooth drone id beacons and shows the ground station and drone on a map. This works for me with my Bluetooth drone beacon. The developers are very up front regarding what the app can and can not do based on iPhone limitations and also drone limitations in that many drones are not up to date enough to send out a signal this app can receive. If you are ok with receiving Bluetooth signals only and/or you have a drone that sends them out this app should work for you as it does for me. I would like to commend the developers for a job well done on a free app and for putting up with the negative reviews from those who do not understand the technology. And yes, this is a real review.
