It was fun, simple, and now it’s gone, deleted. I wish I could play it again, but that can never happen ### 4/5 — awesome game - some questions and recommendations *2025-06-20, version 1.5.3* Don’t get me wrong - this is an AWESOME game. Coming from the first game, I really like the idea of an open world space environment where you can do anything. I really like the visuals too; memorable and charming. However, i do have a couple questions, and maybe some recommendations. Questions: what is the point of alliances and factions, besides a little tag besides your name? Also, if the factions are as full as they say, why is there no one in the servers? It’s a very rare occurrence to even see ONE other person on the server. Surely not all of them quit? What is the point of all the other items (not the blocks) in the Market besides ammo and rift crystals? I can’t seem to find a place in the game where we can do something else with them besides selling/buying them. Maybe this is intentional - why aren’t my saves on my account under this device not showing up on other devices logged in with the same account? Recommendations: Maybe bring back the weapon colors from Droneboi 1? I feel that it’s a little boring for all the weapons to be the same green color. More on the weapons; could we also get the weapon projectile glow, railgun laser stacking, and the rocket launcher (all from droneboi 1) back? Could we also get the mining laser from Droneboi 1 back? As always, these are just recommendations from what I think would make the game better, and you don’t have to follow them. Thanks! ### 4/5 — Pls bring back old droneboi 1 *2025-05-02, version 1.5.3* I still remember that before you had multiplayer sandbox with the full 99x99 grid, and the old career mode was real fun too it was the good ol days when the game was in its prime. Fun, popular and really entertaining. Its not like im hating, just want the old droneboi back since it fits me and maybe some other people. Firstly, you have random crashes to send you straight to the shadow realm, meaning you have to reboot and watch another ad. Next, the ad placement isn’t great. You get one on your first launch in sandbox/return to station. Fortunately, this is the only ad in that session. Then there’s the slab wedges “overlapping” and lag from tiny blocks, but these are excusable. Lastly, desync. Effects vary, from mere pistons breaking faster to total invincibility. Very annoying. Game itself is pretty good with many designs on workshop. Unfortunately, there are various newbies and fools who merely make low effort creations or worse, copy. The game isn’t too bad, with a great sandbox editor, but these flaws just drag it down. EDIT: Dropping to 2 star due to game essentially never being updated. As in, ever. May as well call it Droneboi Cancelled now EDIT 2: Tried to get a friend in. They got ZERO starting components. Game only is put on the same update as Android/Steam every what, 10 updates? It’s so bad that there isn’t even the “Conquest” part of DBC due to version mismatch (no siege GUI). Half of the features you’d expect from DBC won’t work. If you have any computer, just run a DBC apk on that or get it on Android/Steam. ——————————————— Suggestions (maybe I’ll see these on Android Emulator on PC): ——————————————— BIGGER, BETTER HOLOFLAGS - Yes, very early to be suggesting this of all things, but a paint UI for holoflag patterns and bigger ones would be nice. Make your own faction insignias and make them big for your battleships! If there are options to permanently extend them with logic too, bigger ones can be made by combining smaller ones! PAINTED LASERS - Laser reflect off glass, if glass painted, laser take glass color. For multi-color paints, it could just apply the paintjob as-is (police tape lasers, yay) or take a “main color” (e.g. red for red present paint) and use that. DECORATIONS SYSTEM - Think Modular Spaceships, except with layers below being darker and layers higher being lighter. 3D ships will finally be a reality! (also, add “triangles” that look like they rise up from one layer to another exclusively for decorations if you do this) Rendering decorations should be a toggle in editor and during flight. TRIANGLE MERGING - Take two triangles and put them into a rectangular space aligned with the grid seamlessly. Great for paintjobs! DOCK GROUPS - Make specific docks of specific groups only be attracted to docks of that sane group. Mainly an idea from challenges. QUARTER BLOCK - Quarter of a block chopped off. If you’re like me, this is great, since you no longer have to fill in those pesky quarter spaces between slabs with tiny thrusters (not exactly the best-looking) or constant logic components (also not exactly good-looking). ——————————————— Quality of Life: ——————————————— HINGE ROTATION LIMITATIONS - Using configuration, decide how far hjnges can rotate. THRUSTER VALUE ADJUSTMENT - Basically a button that adjusts thruster values to keep the whole ship balanced. Mainly for asymmetrical builds. Can be configured to keep thruster values around a set point as close as possible while balancing the ship. MASS SELECTION, COPYING, AND PASTING - Select, copy, and paste multiple components at once. Also include things like flipping, rotating, or painting selection for extra QoL. REMOVE PART COUNT IN ROOMS - Counting parts causes lag with many parts. Part count often does not matter in rooms because it is a sandbox. Removing the counting process in rooms could make it less laggy to enter editor. DB1 EDITOR AND FLYING CONTROLS - I feel like at least one person out there would like this (I initially would have upon joining this game). Maybe slightly useful, but definitely shouldn’t be a priority. ——————————————— Potential Issues: ——————————————— SEPARATORS - I’m sure you’ve heard this, separator edges of different weld groups now do not connect to the separator. Don’t know how this happened since it only emerged this update. iOS-SPECIFIC DISCONNECTS - Randomly while in Open Play, game just blackscreens and closes after long periods of playtime. May as well just glaze over this. SAVES NOT TRANSFERRING (?) - May just be the jank of having to use Android emulator every update, but saves do not transfer between the Android Emulator on PC using an external APK and between iOS. Could be an issue with the emulator, server, or game, but which it is remains unclear (for me, anyways). ▶️ 🟨🟩⬜️ ⬜️🟥⏹️⬜️ ▶️ 🟨🟩⬜️ (Maybe it will appear as a Droneboi, maybe not, this is at the whims of margins and formatting) ### 1/5 — Don’t even bother with iOS version *2025-03-23* Version mismatch is quite extreme. Unfortunately because the iOS release cycle has proved to take up so much more time, I'm forced to limit these releases periodically as to not significantly hinder the other platforms (which contain most of the playerbase by a long shot). You are still always able to play with other iOS users, and the iOS versions in general are also much more stable and have better performance than the ones on Android. The only big feature unavailable on iOS is Conquest. But I also don't promote it on the store listing, so as an iOS player who has no knowledge of the other versions, this should not be an issue. -Beau ### 1/5 — BRING THE OLD BACK *2025-01-20, version 1.3.4* BRING THE OLD VERSION OF IT BACK. I need help with that. ### 5/5 — Very fun game *2025-04-06, version 1.5.3* I played this game during covid and this game has a specific quality that makes it so good: There is a feeling of a kind of simplicity that makes it seem like there is little things to do yet many things to do at the same time. This makes it very fun and good game for relaxing and players are always online, very nice Hope the game never changes because ya know, some game developers ruin their game by changing too many things which demolish the nostalgia of it. Now here is the reason the game has low player amounts: I dont remember the game being that complex, it was super easy to figure out and play but now there are docking stations and more buttons and that might be the reason there is fewer players. Developers, pls organize the market by putting items near their similar parts (example a large battery after a medium battery), and remove loading screen so that gameplay is quicker and more engaging.
