May try delete and re-install and see if that works… most frustrating as this is an excellent app. Tried adding IP addresses of other machines - no joy either. Was working fine until ‘upgrade’ to 26.4, and now no joy. Clearly some network protocols were changed by Apple and DropCopy no longer sees other devices on network. In many ways it is more flexible than AirDrop. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Very unintuitive method to choose files to transfer *2026-07-20* DropCopy is even more difficult to use than Apple’s own dumb method to enter text to review this application. It took me quite a while just to figure out why I was unable to enter this text! I clicked many times in this “Review” segment of the dialog and nothing happed. Eventually I learned that I had to click in the rightside of the entry field! OMG. So stupid is Apple to let that bug persist. As re the DropCopy. I was not able to see any way to transfer files from my iPhone, other than some photos, to my MacOS M1 and some text files that I transferred to iPhone from Mac. Moreover, when I selected multiple files only one file was transferred. Apparently each transfer overwrote the previous one. This a really user unfriendly app. I have other file transfer apps that are readily intuitive and “just worked” without reading any documentation, tips, or help info. ### 1/5 — SCAM ARTIST *2024-09-28, version 5.07* I did NOT authorize DropCopy to renew this unused app that I tried to use more than a year ago WHICH DID NOT WORK for me, and I deleted in less than 6 hours, A YEAR AGO. ### 1/5 — non *2015-11-22* ça ne fonctionne pas. It keeps on starting to install, but immediately stops. It's buggy and can never find any other devices/computers on the network. Wasted hours trying to figure it out to no avail. Don't bother with it. ### 2/5 — Gone back to vers 5.01 *2024-04-04, version 5.05* Vers 5.05 crashed regularly on desktop (M1 Mini) and laptop (M2 Air) and have gone back to vers 5.01 which is very stable. It's an excellent utility - recommended for all Mac users, but 5.05 was unstable on my system and had to go. Updated - vers 5.0.5 remains unstable, often crashing following a transfer. I have a Mac Mini M1 and a MB Air M2 on my home network. I transfer a lot of siles between the two machines, but I have to restart DropCopy after many transfers. Typically, but not always, it is the source (of the transfer) that crashes following the successful transfer. Most annoying - used to be rock solid but not this app is very flaky. Happy to troubleshoot with dev if useful. ### 2/5 — Nice concept but... *2014-09-07, version 1.9* I was excited to install this app but it did not work… I was just trying to send a file from my imac to my ipad but it keep saying to choose my destination after both devices were synced to the app… Please fix… in meantime I am deleting this app…. was hoping to find something that would work better than Apple’s airdrop and so far it isnt this app…. ### 2/5 — Hilfreich (warscheinlich) nur in der Pro Version *2011-01-18* Also wenn ich das Programm richtig benutzt hab (und das nehme ich mal an) ist das einzig nützliche für mich persönlich, das "Textfile-senden" dass ich zum beispiel links etc. schnell vom mac auf meinen Server bekomm. Aber was das Programm NICHT kann ist eine Datei zu einer Netzlaufwerkadresse zu schicken. (Allerdings ist dies ja auch einfach mit Boardmitteln möglich) FTP-Verbindung ist nicht schlecht, aber ich benutze diese mit einem anderen Tool. Zumal sind die Einstellungen "übersichtlich" um nicht zu sagen eher mager. An sich ist die APP eine nette Idee, allerdings gibt es meiner Meinung nacht bessere (und schon vorhandene) Möglichkeiten Dateien via DragDrop auf entfernte Locations zu kopieren. ### 2/5 — Doesn't work with PathFinder (amongst other things) *2011-01-14* Could be a cool app but: 1. It requires the Finder desktop, so is incompatible with PathFinder (which I exclusively use). 2. You can'y drag files onto the dock icon. In fact it even recognises that you're trying to do it, then says use the dropzone instead, which is maddening (see point 1). 3. If you set the option to remove icon from dock, and then accidentally press "Collapse/Show menu bar icon", then you're in big trouble. You can't edit the preferences because there is nothing to click on to bring app preferences up. - TIP: To get around this, relaunch the app. You won't see anything happen (because both icons are gone), but press "command ," which will bring up the preferences where you can turn the icons on again. In short, they tried to be fancy with the whole 'drop zone' thing, but really it just back fired. Grabbing pictures for Etsy, eBay or my blog, quick pics to email to friends, anything I need to "keep" a copy -- DropCopy means I can just send the pictures from my iPhone to my MacBook Air (or even my ancient 2013 MacBook Pro!) without having to be sitting in front of the recipient machine to accept. :) AND -- this works even when AirDrop has forgotten it's on a network.
