I love how much it repeats the words so you can practice pronouncing them. But it’s annoying that you have to swipe down to learn a new word every time. But idk if that changes since I’ve only done one lesson so far. Also i really don’t like how you have to pay to learn for more than five minutes. Sometimes it will sign you out. Then the very first word was supposed to be hello, which Croatians say “Bog” - meaning God. And The app designers got it WRONG, spelling it “bok.” Deliberately? It doesn’t matter. ### 1/5 — Free user lesson timer messed up *2026-08-12, version 39.18* Again, timer for free user is messed up, it should allow user to practice every 9 hours, so basically do lesson in the morning and in the evening, but now I can only do in the morning… boo… ### 1/5 — Horrible Preview *2026-08-12, version 39.18* Maybe the actual app is better, but why would I subscribe when the preview is ridiculously short and only exists at a very basic level, even though I indicated that I am advanced. As a teacher, I had both good and bad expectations for an app made by kahoot. While I resent having to spend on a kahoot membership, my students do benefit and it is easy to test out the functionality of kahoot prior to paying. Here though, you demand money on faith, without showing anything of quality. Honestly, it’s disrespectful and insulting and if you’re not going to give an actual preview I suspect you are scamming people. ### 1/5 — Too Busy *2026-08-10, version 39.17* The app is now so busy and full of garbage that it wastes my time and I have difficulty navigating it. I used to really like this app, and I thought it was helpful. I particularly like Scripts. Script seems to have been abandoned. I think my last streak was over two years, and it got busy and I abandoned it. I just tried to use it again, and I couldn’t figure out how to pick a language. That is how non-intuitive this app has become. Very disappointing, because I bought the lifetime subscription. ### 1/5 — Broken *2026-08-06, version 39.17* Your new update just wiped out 2800+ days of progress and your support system is useless in fixing it ### 1/5 — Incorrect Pronunciation *2026-08-04, version 39.17* I’m using Drops for Chinese vocab, helping me focus on Radicals etc. etc. The thing is that I’m not new to Chinese. I can speak well enough, (according to a friend) with correct tones and rather clear. I also don’t find distinguishing between tones particularly difficult. That is to say: tones are frequently misused in this app to the point of annoyance for me and potential misinformation to another person. There are multiple times when third tones (ǎ, falling rising) are pronounced as first tones (ā, flat), or where second tones (á, rising) are pronounced as fourth tones (à, falling), OR where neutral tone words are pronounced with 3rd tone for some reason???? Not to mention, I’m not sure if all of the translations are accurate. With tones, of course for some words they change in context but there is no context here to change them. They shouldn’t sound this off. ### 1/5 — Lost streak *2026-07-30, version 39.16* Once again, I lost a long streak even though I do exercices everyday. I’m done. ### 1/5 — Overall State of Drops; Favorites Function Broken *2026-07-28, version 39.16* Like other reviewers have already stated, Drops has been steadily going downhill. I have been using it for years as a Premium subscriber, and have seen how functionality and content have been replaced with childish gamification and convoluted menus. Now most everything feel like AI slop where users' time is wasted with clicking through menus, and having to wait for stats being shown after each session, not being given an option to click them away or disable them completely. Even worse, there is no longer a way to reach anyone; the Favorites function has been broken for some time now, but there is no mechanism to report issues. So, I am putting this here, maybe my thoughts on the state of the app will get the devs attention 🤷 ### 1/5 — Very great *2026-07-25, version 39.16* Saluton!
