## What is Drum Lab?

Practice with real drums, not a drum machine.

Drum Lab is a library of original, professionally recorded drum loops - built for musicians who want to practice, play along, and get better, not just listen. Every loop is a real performance, seamlessly looped, organized by feel so you can find exactly the groove you need.

Browse jazz, funk, R&B and hip hop, rock and pop, world rhythms grouped by region (Brazilian, Latin, African and more), and odd meters grouped by time signature. Tap a loop and it locks in at its tempo instantly - no setup, no syncing, just drums.

**Built for practice, not just playback**
- Slow a groove down or speed it up, from 0.5× to 1.5×, without changing its pitch
- Practice Mode gradually raises the tempo as you play - +5 BPM every 4 bars by default, and you set the step and how often
- Built-in metronome locked to each loop's grid, in quarter, eighth or sixteenth notes, or on beat 1 only
- Optional one-bar count-in before the loop starts
- Download loops for offline practice anywhere - no connection needed
- Save favorites and build your own practice playlists
- Light and dark mode

**Try it free**
A hand-picked set of loops in every category is free to try, each playing three times through. Unlock Drum Lab Pro with a one-time payment for every loop, endless looping, and every practice feature - no subscription, ever.

Whether you're working on your time, your feel, or just want something real to play along to, Drum Lab gives you drums that sound like a drummer - because they are one.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.3.1 — 2026-10-07

Dark mode is here: track lists and the player now come in a warm dark theme. Pick Light, Dark or Match phone in Settings (the home screen keeps its terracotta look).

- Smoother-sounding tempo changes when you slow a loop down or speed it up
- New optional one-bar count-in
- The metronome now sits right on each loop's grid, including when you turn it on mid-loop or change the subdivision
- Odd Meters are now grouped by time signature, and World Grooves by region
- Two new 9/8 grooves in Odd Meters
- Redesigned player and track lists, with a better layout on iPad
- The now-playing bar no longer covers the last track in a list
- Fixed a short freeze when starting a track

### 1.3 — 2026-09-30

This update adds 8 new practice loops across Funk, Rock, and World grooves, including Indie Rock and a faster Bossa Nova variation.

Pro users can now export loops as full quality WAV files instead of compressed audio, perfect for pulling a loop into your own recordings.

Fixed an issue where a freshly downloaded loop could start playback with a slight delay instead of landing right on the beat.

Smaller bug fixes and performance improvements throughout.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-23

Drum Lab 1.2 is here — a smoother player, faster access to everything, and a few features you asked for.

What's new:
- Redesigned player: track title front and center, with quick access to playlists, favorites, and export right underneath
- The player now updates live as you skip between tracks, so the title always matches what's playing
- New menu for Downloaded Tracks, About, and Settings — just tap the icon in the top right
- Metronome can now click on the downbeat only, instead of every beat
- Curated free tracks in every genre, with free loops sorted to the top so they're easy to find
- Favorites now use a star icon throughout the app

Real drums, really played — no AI was used in the creation of these drum tracks.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-22

No release notes.
