### 4/5 — Nice!!

*2023-02-02, version 1.3*

This app has enormous potential!! Please don’t give up on it!

### 4/5 — So much potential

*2022-12-09*

Why did you stop updating, this app could have been so incredible with just a few more features

**Developer response:** It is time. Thanks for keeping the faith and for the download!

### 4/5 — More drums

*2022-10-19*

Great platform for making drum specific music but there’s only two different drums. It would be better if there was a bass drum and toms, maybe even symbols.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2022-03-24, version 1.3*

Decent app would like to be able to double stack notes on tenor

**Developer response:** You can using the note+ symbol!

### 4/5 — Good app

*2021-10-10*

This is a really good app I like writing down my ideas and cadences I already know and having the ability to pull out my phone and create something whenever. I have 2 suggestions, 1. Basses, this app only has snare and tenor which is kinda sad, plz add basses, 2. You should add a feature where you can combine all the parts together to create your own cadence and listen to them with all there parts playing together. Other wise, great app 👍

### 4/5 — On the right (a great) track for the most part

*2021-09-05*

This app is the only one of its kind on the market, and I’m really liking the direction it’s taking. I believe that this app is well worth my money already, but I would say that there need to be signs of moving forward for it to continue to grow and expand its audience. A few things I’d like to see-

• Of course, Bass Drum and Cymbal notation (though this has been talked about already) • More export options (ability to change zoom level, measures per line, etc.)

• The ability to combine multiple instruments into a single drum break (this has also been mentioned before- something to note, though, is that you could add some sort of score feature even without having to implement the playback of them all yet- or choose to export a score pdf/jpg where you have a selection screen of your breaks and can select a break of each instrument type)

• More even playback - lower on my priority list, as it’s decent atm, but would be nice to have more precise timing at some point.

• (probably furthest down the road, I understand) Integration with your other app, Drumline- play general rhythms in Drumline (pre-specified tempo is fine) and have them roughly quantized to Break Creator (big, difficult ask, I know)

 • Highest priority and most importantly to me- more communication. Be it on the Twitter page or a devlog/news section in the app, users need to know what’s going on, even (especially) if the news is that you’re going to be busy and won’t have time to work on the app itself. Give us a heads up so that we aren’t worried about the state of the app and its future. We won’t bite 😁

Great work so far, John. Can’t wait to see this continue to grow!

### 4/5 — Good app

*2021-09-05*

It is a great app but it’s missing some stuff. It needs basses 😂, double stops on tenor, and multiple drums on one song. It’s an amazing app which helps my high school drum line. We love it!!!

### 4/5 — Great app

*2020-07-19, version 1.2*

This app is awesome! I have used it to write down my ideas easily and transcribe some of my own snare features from old shows. I love the tone of the snare and the tenors. I do have a few suggestions though. At fast tempos, it starts to sound a little sloppy. I personally don’t know a solution to that problem because it might just be in the code. Also it would be cool to be able to tie notes together. Quarter note triplets would also be nice to have. An idea i had was that is would be cool to be able to write tenor and snare parts together in a score. Maybe that will be added later? Besides that, this app suits really well for the little amount of money you have to spend!

### 4/5 — Screen rotation

*2020-06-15*

This app does not rotate the screen with your phone meaning that every time you try to drag a not in it pulls out your notifications menu, other than that it seems pretty good so far👍🏻

**Developer response:** Check out version 1.3. I believe this issue is fixed. 🤞

### 4/5 — Decent Writing Software

*2020-06-06*

I will say that the software is relatively intuitive and I like being able to put my ideas down on the go.

My two main suggestions to improve this dramatically is to add an ability to turn a note within a tuplet into a rest. And my second suggestion is to add a part for bass drums. While it’s good to write for both snare and tenor, Basses are also a vital part of any line (me being a bass drummer by trade).

Edit: I re-read the description and saw that Basses were going to be added. Sick! But again would love to see an option for rests. Possibly make it as one of the “articulation” options. So, like instead of an accent, it would turn that note into a rest.

**Developer response:** Thanks for all this feedback! Converting notes to rests (say in a tuplet) are coming soon as well as a way to double a note like as a drag but using alternating sticking (say you want to create hertas within some rudiments). Thanks for downloading and many updates coming soon!

Update: check out version 1.3! Lots of rest to note replacing action added as well as the ability to make 32nd notes.

### 4/5 — Love the concept but somethings could be added or improved to make it better.

*2020-05-30*

I love this app because it’s the simplest and most efficient way to write sheet music for a drumline but there are a good bit of things I’d fix or add.

- I’d love to see the option to create bass drum breaks, it’d be tons of fun.

- There has to be quarter note triplets and the option to leave our triplets.

- I’d also love to see the option to have multiple instruments in a single break to create drum features rather than single instrument breaks/ solos.

-Double stops are not together, they sound like flams on tenors.

-The fourth drum on tenors stands out.

-there should be the option to right “B” to indicate both hands for sticking.

- Playback of the breaks could be cleaner/ smoother and more accurate!!!

- For tenors, add the parentheses around the notes that indicate crossovers, it makes reading the music a lot easier and it tells which hand should be the one crossing over.

- There should definitely be the option to write in dynamics.

- There should definitely be the option to write notes played on the rim.

- For tenors there should be the option to write in skanks, not just rim shots.

- There should be the option to add text above measures or notes to indicate things like stick tricks, visuals, where on the drum you should be playing etc.

- There should be the option for tempo/ meter changes.

 - There should definitely be the option for rests in triplets.

- Ninelets and 32nd notes should be added.

- Tenuto notes should definitely be added.

-Also for tenors I think there should be the option for different kinds of sticks/ mallets because there is a very specific sound to each one. (This would also apply to basses if added)

- should be the option for more specific tempos, not just tempos in increments of 5.

-There should be the option of quarter note 5-lets

I hope all of these things are considered if not added. I’d love the app 100x more if I saw these on there, but it’s already a good app as it is. I feel like these changes could really positively effect the experience of the app and more people would want to use it, because it is already one of if not the simplest and most efficient way of composing drumline music.

Thank you!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for all this feedback! AWESOME. You're in luck that a number of these asks are already underway and almost everything you listed is on the roadmap. I'm about to launch rim clicks, 5 and 9lets are coming, rests in tuplets, 32nd note-maker-upper, as well as once all those things are implemented I'll be rolling in bass drums and cymbals. Thanks for downloading and I hope you enjoy all the updates as I quickly roll out new versions of the app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Great idea but horrible execution

*2023-08-10, version 1.3*

So hard to use and keeps freezing/deleting my notes randomly. I’m so upset that I paid money for this awful app. Complete waste of time

### 1/5 — Needs lots of work

*2020-12-15*

This app has lots of potential. The only real other app for notation from drumline is flat and flat is counterintuitive. I think the only thing that will
extend this apps life is the communication between the author and the community. He is already doing this which is great, but the work is just beginning. This app is for finicky, new, and honestly just unreliable. Here are some things that still need to be added:

-Playback, diddles for some reason sound like different sounds all together. Buzzes, jesus.

-Bass drums- No bass drums.

-Battery- the ability to add two instruments together is non-existent. It’s a “Drumline Break Creator “ right? Why can’t I right for two instruments then?

-More customizations- Does anyone really like that mustard background? Custom tab should exist, instead of flipping back and forth.

DYNAMICS- Why? Why? Why? Where are the dynamics????

Tuplet Tool- I like the idea of preset notes to just drag in but I also need stuff for my own.

Hertas- Here’s something to try, go in and drag out a triplet. Now drag out another but put the note divider on the first note. ITS NOT THE SAME SPEED, ITS A SIXTEENTH NOTE HERTA.

I could go on and name soooooooo many more problems. This apps release should have delayed and still shouldn’t be out because it needs actual work. Wouldn’t recommend the purchase until the app is actually a reliable notation app.

**Developer response:** Super appreciate this comprehensive review as well as making a few suggestions. Feedback like this 100% makes the app better. I have a ton of updates in the pipeline and most of these issues have been addressed and or added. Bass drums and cymbals are coming but aren’t ready for prime time yet, as well as the ability to playback and modify multiple instruments at the same time. I have something cooking that’s pretty unique for this. 🤓

Fatfluffypuppy please keep the faith. This app is going fff in 2021.

### 3/5 — Waiting

*2024-06-01*

Glad somebody is making a Drumline notation app but this is missing a lot. Asking for $6 and giving the bare minimum was disappointing. While tools are intuitive they are not as detailed as the high premium would make someone assume. I haven’t seen follow up updates to responses from years ago and want to make sure this project is alive.

**Developer response:** On it! Truly

### 3/5 — Needs basses

*2023-09-24, version 1.3*

The app is good but I do wish that there were basses because there part of the drum line too

### 3/5 — Some problems...

*2020-08-31*

So first of all i guess dynamics just don’t exist?? i don’t know if i’m blind but dynamics are kind of extremely important in drumline.... second of all when i play the music i’ve written it’s extremely choppy and doesn’t sound good, kind of like glitches.

**Developer response:** Thanks for downloading! Dynamics are coming –it’s actually not hard to do it’s just modifying the master volume and putting the different dynamics in a draggable tray. The reason they aren’t already there is because composition apps have a ton of little features which means there can be a metric ton of bugs and ux considerations. I’m making my way through those, optimizing playback so it’s smoother at higher tempos (as you mentioned). Playback is 4x better than version 1.1 already. There’s also some setup I’m doing to prepare for basses and other surprises. 😃

Thanks again for the feedback and stay tuned for more updates as I continue to improve and build new features rapidly.

### 3/5 — Pretty Average

*2020-06-03, version 1.2*

The app has a good concept it could just be executed better. You can’t delete notes on tenors and it could use more of a variety in tuplets and note variations but i’m excited to see the next update.

### 4/5 — ADD BASS DRUMS

*2025-04-27, version 1.3*

This app has high potential. It would be 5 stars but they don’t have bass drums. PLEASE ADD BASS DRUMS IT WILL BE SO FUN!!!

### 4/5 — Good but why not the full drumline

*2024-01-03*

This app is very good and I’ve enjoyed making beats that I like, but when it comes to making a full drumline cadence, I’m forced to buy another app for the bass drums and I am confused as to why this app doesn’t have one. This app is enjoyable but I think y’all could or should maybe add a bass drum feature so that people like me can compose a full drumline cadence or feauture.

### 4/5 — Good but needs stuff

*2023-07-26*

This is a amazing drum app, but it needs bass drums, able to merge/add different parts like different snare or tenor parts, aswell as add dynamics, aswell as being able to choose a part to start the music instead of starting at the beginning

### 4/5 — Pretty good app

*2023-02-27*

The app is pretty good but certain things i cant write like quarter not triplets is a vital thing that should be added but other than that its a very good app and I'm enjoying using it!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — app

*2023-05-08, version 1.3*

why can’t i add an accent with buzz

### 5/5 — 5/5

*2022-12-16, version 1.3*

I love the app! Maybe I’m missing it but I don’t see quarter note triplets :(

### 5/5 — Good

*2022-09-11, version 1.3*

I love this app, but it needs one thing. Bass drums I think they would be an awesome addition. Good luck.

### 5/5 — MORE RUDIMENTS

*2022-06-05*

Great app that is simple to understand and effective! However, I wish the app had a wider variety of rudiments (pre made and smaller subdivisions).

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2020-07-27*

Just downloaded both the apps to help me practice this year. Just from this first few minutes both seem amazing! Just wondering if there will be any bass add ons for Break creator?

**Developer response:** Thanks for the download! Yes basses are coming in a future version.

### 5/5 — Great but...

*2020-07-26, version 1.2*

This app is great but it needs 32nd notes and more features.

### 5/5 — Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

*2020-06-17*

First and foremost this app is AWESOME! Playback needs to be smoothed out at quicker tempi. But, Improvements are underway from what I’ve read and the changes that are coming are well worth the price tag. Seriously! BUY THIS APP! I’ve had a few students download the app and they use it everyday for practice and creation.

**Developer response:** Thanks for passing on the recommendation and the support! Definitely playback is a priority area for me right now and have a peak at version 1.3+ Trying to prevent the sound samples from sounding like robot machines is easier said than done. Thanks again!

### 5/5 — FINNALLY

*2020-06-12, version 1.2*

A GOOD DRUM CREATOR but one thing can you add bad drum and a way to merge the drums to make them play together

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2020-06-11*

This app is awesome! Super useful for when I get ideas for breaks when I don’t have my computer with me. I was maybe hoping for an update where there are multiple instruments in a single break? Other than that, this is sweet!

**Developer response:** Thanks for that feedback! Multiple instruments in a single break is on the roadmap but it's a bit more complicated than you'd think because of the number of sound files all firing at once that need to be happening for playback. Not off the table but it's a bit more of a overhaul for playback. Thanks for downloading and lots of updates in store soon!

### 5/5 — Yes!

*2020-05-08*

Love it!!!!! I’ve never written anything before. Please add in some 32nd note rudiments and maybe back sticking and I’ll love you forever.

**Developer response:** Coming in the next version! Thanks for downloading and glad you are enjoying it!
