### 4/5 — Not bad, not great

*2025-10-19, version 3.5*

Restore purchases doesn't work. Restore all does nothing. All packs still show as a purchase option.

A pretty good drum option. Not the best sound quality but not terrible. The UI is a bit of a nightmare.

### 3/5 — MIDI-OUT is needed

*2025-04-06, version 3.21*

Bluetooth Midi-Out is needed!

### 4/5 — Great app but

*2024-10-24, version 3.21*

In 2024 there needs an update. In using drum-effect pro with logic on iPad there doesn’t seem to be a way to use the apps together. All I am able to get is a demo beat to play through.

### 4/5 — yay

*2023-06-29, version 3.21*

Add live MIDI OUT and ill be happy and shut up, please

This makes me so happy. Please bring this update

### 3/5 — Pretty good

*2022-12-28, version 3.21*

I like the capability of this app, but I have an older iPad, and dpp runs pretty slow, or crashes. It takes a long time to load up, as well.
It hasn’t been updated in a year, and I’m hoping I didn’t make a mistake by purchasing this.

### 4/5 — Sound fabulous, needs AU3

*2022-04-27, version 3.21*

Drum perfect sounds better than anything else on IOS. The one problem is the lack of full AU3 compatibility. It really needs this feature added in order to stay relevant, and hopefully continue to be developed.

### 4/5 — Historically love the app, but experiencing frustrating crashes

*2021-01-22, version 3.1*

I am having a crashing issue every time I hit the load button on the song tab. Running iPad Pro 9.7” iOS 14.3. Please help!

### 2/5 — Extremely Difficult

*2020-12-21, version 3.1*

I’ve been using pro audio at major label and arena concert levels for decades. There is nothing intuitive out the layout and the graphical user interface. Eq’s and compressors and such are not located in the mixer page which runs contrary to every audio mixer design since the 40’s. Simply peaking at the drum samples causes a destructive edit of the drum kits. MIDI defaults only to channel 10 and not Omni like every piece of midi gear in the past 40’s years. I could go on but why bother. There is practically no decent internet tutorials. The few that do exist have a very think foreign accents further exacerbating the frustration of the user experience. I can’t recommend this program. Just use Garage band. It’s free and there’s little this offers over it.

### 3/5 — Crashes a lot

*2020-09-28, version 3.1*

Crashes whenever I go to settings, so unable to configure MIDI

### 4/5 — Love it

*2020-09-12, version 3.1*

So far this is the best drum app for IOs I have used so far. Once I got past the learning curve of the workflow this app has just been solid! Customer service was there when I need it, thx Marinus!

### 5/5 — DrumPerfect Pro

*2020-05-27, version 3.0.2*

This is the best drum machine I have seen so far for professional musician on IPad. This drum machine is for who knows what is doing. If you are beginner, this is not for you. Because you have to know how music and technology work together. That is why there are some bad reviews. The samples, the patterns, the kits, the way to programming the song, All THE BEST ON THIS DRUM MACHINE!

### 5/5 — Simply the best drum prog out there bar non.

*2020-04-12, version 3.0.2*

Nuff said.

### 2/5 — Crashing in iOS 13.2

*2019-11-10, version 3.0.2*

crashing in iOS 13....wont load.

### 5/5 — Good app with quite a bit of depth.

*2019-09-08, version 3.0.2*

Yes, it does take a bit to learn and there isn’t a whole lot of demo videos on this app, but once you get the hang of the layout, it is not that complicated and it is quite fun programming new patterns and songs, just spend a couple hours with it. I do feel Drum Perfect Pro is underrated but could use a few things to really make this app shine. Some features are kind of hidden like live view drum kit and the effects section isn’t the most clear. The drums are decent with multi samples and velocity layers for getting a real drummer sound but not great. I feel like some of the Tom sounds fall short and that the developer can do better with included kits and with making more kits available to choose from. I must say that I do like some of the crashes a lot and hi-hats though. But as far as kicks and snares I would like to see more along with better sounding toms.

It’s not very straightforward if you want to import your own midi drum loops, I’ve tried several things and when I finally was able to get a couple into the app, they didn’t play anything. Maybe the mapping is different but there should be the option to change mappings as seen in other apps. The included loops are alright but there isn’t a whole lot without in app purchases.

There’s definitely room for improvement but the developer seems to be interested in keeping this app going based on the version history so I look forward to new features and hope they come soon. It’s always exciting to me to look under updates in the App Store and see an app I like with new features.

### 3/5 — Just Want To Beat The Drum All Day...thank you

*2019-04-23, version 3.0.2*

UPDATE 04/23/2019: The initial (quick) developer response got my DPPro wired up in AUM as a Audio Unit Extension. I have not run the combo for more for a few minutes now, but I wanted to get back to this quickly and add some stars. If things seem to keep working I'll buy some more drum packs and add at least another star.... I searched through the DPPro v.3 manual and I would not have found an answer to my original confusion. I might have stumbled upon the solution by chance or never have even encountered the problem if I had not been looking for AUE functionality from the get go. So all I can suggest is the developer reflect the changing nature of the iOS digital music 'eco-system' and add a blurb in the manual for ignorant new users primarily interested in AUE superpowers.

As an aside to drum-beat AUE developers in general I'd just like to say I have not been impressed with the stability of the Beater's overall stability when left running in my typical long-playing "generative/randomized" music scenario. The 'big-name' popular synths are stable and can run for days without fail but the AUE capable little-beaters often don't get through the night.

ORIGINAL 04/21/2019: Complete fail to work as Audio Unit Extension. Following Version 3 manual instructions fails to load any presets. The iPad image showing loaded presets is not happening on my iOS 12.2 iPad Pro at the moment. Attempts to drive DPPro as the proffered image suggests with PolyPhase (etc) has not worked either.

As iOS and AU are moving targets I'll wait and see if DPPro gets its poop-in-a-group. That's what usually happens with music apps at least. The DPPro seems to work as a stand alone app, but, I was looking for a drum machine that was actually stable when running as an Audio Unit Extension when I paid my money. Until the iPad image promising Audio Unit Extension integration with AUM actually works as advertised I would say avoid DrumPerfect Pro v.3 as of mid April 2019. Hope to be able to revise my star rating upward in the future if updates correct at least the main complaint I have.

### 1/5 — not Working right

*2020-06-21, version 3.1*

Since the last update it is still not working right. It just keeps crashing all the time.If I press on any of the pads to play the drum sounds nothing comes out and it will just crash.

### 1/5 — Do not buy unless sure!11

*2019-09-02, version 3.0.2*

This developer does NOT do refunds (and its a $35 app!11)....he reckons he does but Apple have instructions not to process refunds. I got confused with dum app names and bought this one by mistake! So be aware and be very sure it is the right one!

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2017-07-29, version 2.12*

Another 25 bucks down the drain. I have an iPad retina 4, older I know- but most apps work beautifully on it. The compatibility on this app simply states "iPad". I can barely get this app to stay open, crashes, I've had to restore purchases (I bought the jazz pack) over and over again, just to have them disappear. I notice hardly any reviews, when will I learn not to trust barely reviewed apps? Buy Korg, their stuff works. This is garbage.

### 1/5 — Finally!

*2017-02-24, version 2.0*

Well...after days of trying I learned to deal with this app!! I think I will make an easy tutorial to help my fellows!!

### 1/5 — Horrible Sounding samples

*2016-11-05, version 2.0*

I wish I could get a refund. These samples sound like a tin drum machine from the 80's, they're just horrible. They do not sound like a sample from a live microphone, they sound very artificial. These are not live drums!

Further the UI is a train wreck, the workflow is just horrible. I did not have the expectation this would sound like Superior Drummer or BFD, but I did expect it to sound legit which it does not. They sound no where near as real as X drummer from GarageBand and I don't rate those as anymore than a 5 out of 10.

For $18 us I usually wouldn't complain but these sonically are really bad. If the developer reads this please contact me through the app store, I would like a refund please.

### 1/5 — Not perfect

*2016-06-07, version 2.0*

When saving sequences the drum kit being used is not saved as well. So each project you're working on if you go back you'll have to remember which drum kit you used. Saving sequences is better this time as the iOS keyboard doesn't block the name as you type. I purchased the first Drum Perfect and expected some updates in the future. Now with Drum Perfect Pro I was expecting something more refined with a very useful interface. Something that made working on projects easy to get back into. Currently you have to re-load all the sequences, then re-load the song, and then choose the drum sets again. It's very tedious for something made in 2016.

### 1/5 — not so perfect

*2016-05-26, version 2.0*

Produces realistic sounding drum parts
but is a complete nightmare to use.

this app needs a complete overhaul so that a user can get ideas into and out it a lot easier
Then is currently possible.

It's a complete mess at the moment and a real
Inspiration killer.

### 2/5 — Purchases not restoring

*2025-11-25, version 3.5.1*

IOS 26.1 and DPP purchases don’t restore.

### 2/5 — Dear Developer

*2022-06-02, version 3.21*

I opened up your app again today because I have always wanted to take advantage of what it offers. I’ve owned it for years, but the frustration it caused always defeated my efforts to sort it out.

However, I have an exciting project that really needs a human feel and a realistic acoustic sound, so I was determined to finally understand how to use your app. And, with hours of effort, I finally started to piece together enough information from the manual and quick guide to begin to feel like it’s going to eventually all make sense. Not enough to actually do what I want yet, but enough to feel confident that I’ll get there.

That’s when I decided I’m never going to recommend your app, and I’m going to try to find an alternative as soon as I finish this review. Because once I started to see how it works, I realized that you could have just explained and demonstrated it it to your users in a few thoughtfully constructed tutorials. Or you could have introduced improvements to the interface. Or—given the number of years since the app was originally released—you could have done both.

So, congratulations. DrumPerfect Pro isn’t the only music app that I found challenging to learn, but it is the only one that made me feel contempt for its creator. Your app is an insult to musicians whose time should be spent making music, not untangling some mad developer’s brain (while paying for the privilege). You should be embarrassed and ashamed.

### 2/5 — Overly complicated

*2022-05-05, version 3.21*

Okay. I just got the stock kits to trigger with a Roland Octapad spd- 30, so I decided to move forward with the app. I soon discovered there’s no easy way to disable pattern play, and simply play kits live. I poked around and erased the patterns, but upon a reboot I’m back to digging around on how to disable. Next, I decided to purchase the rock kit (demos of all kits not loading BTW) and I can’t figure out where to access the new kit. Where the new kit I just purchased? It’s seeming like this is way more complicated than it needs to be. I’ll be looking for a refund soon, cause I don’t have time for endless futzing

### 5/5 — A Masterpiece - Give it Your Time

*2026-07-28, version 3.5.1*

I have had this app for a long time, it is the only one of its kind for iOS. It has such potential but the feature set is essentially hidden. Apparently the dynamic layers have been increased but how to use them is a mystery. Many functions are hidden behind a ‘long press.’ Which add ons do I own? Who knows? There is no indication on the Store page. I really wish there was proper documentation and or demonstrations. Such a top rate app with such a sad stumbling block.

UPDATE IN 2026: This app is a masterpiece. If you take the time with it, it is unmatched and can produce the best sequences. Excellent for the physically challenged percussionist through age or disability.

### 5/5 — Side grid

*2025-12-14, version 3.5.1*

There’s a side grid that messes my patterns, I can’t program without the wrong kinds of sounds come in that are not compatible! Hoe can I fix it?

### 5/5 — Can’t restore purchases

*2025-11-11, version 3.5.1*

Dear developer I had made in app purchases on here before but can’t restore them please fix thanks 🙂

### 5/5 — Congratulations on the second life of the application

*2025-07-21, version 3.4.1*

Glitches in AU3, Inter-App, at least in Cubasis 3, still need to be fixed.

### 5/5 — Version 2.0 Update with new JAM Mode: Game Changer!

*2025-07-17, version 3.4.1*

I totally feel this is now my go to drummer app after this wonderful update 2.0!

Seriously, having a ton of fun jamming while playing electric guitar and combining it with Groovebox!

The "Jam" option really took it over the top for me.

I'm trying now, after playing for like 5 hours nonstop with an electric guitar, to learn to send the midi out or audio out while in Jam Mode to Cubasis. This would really make it so easy to record a truly "Live" drummer feel track into Cubasis and record a full drum track live on the go!

I honestly think the new JAM feature of DP Pro is going to get a lot of people to buy this app even more!

It no longer feels like a cumbersome boring app to learn, which it never was, just that for non-drummers, like myself, it felt too deep to learn and configure.

Not anymore!

Now with the new Jam feature, this app has been infused with a boatload of fresh air!!!

It feels fun to press the Jam button! Select the pattern you wanna rock to, and voila!!! Rock on! Love it....

@Gilbert how hard would it be to code an option in the Fill button to say automatically have the "Fill" go to "Ride"? That would be so cool amd save a step of having to hit the "Fill (M)" then hitting the Ride button. That would rock!
Also, I would suggest the Jam Screen section to be larger and more readily accessible. For those of us with larger fingers it would be so cool! Perhaps reducing the Kits Section in the Pattern Screen? And increase the JAM section, perhaps giving you even more flexibility to add more option buttons?

 Any possibility to that options?

Thank-you to all the wonderful developers at DrumPerfect Pro! This is the best Update ever!

I highly recommend this drummer app!

### 5/5 — Great sounding drums

*2023-12-20, version 3.21*

Sounds so good. There is an excellent quick start guide that is over twenty pages. Top notch! It is a deep program and there are videos on youtube that spell it out. I was put off by an earlier comment about the dev not having information on how to use the program, but between the videos and the quick start its really good value.

### 5/5 — Lacks a Proper Demonstration and Manual

*2023-03-31, version 3.21*

I have had this app for a long time, it is the only one of its kind for iOS. It has such potential but the feature set is essentially hidden.

Apparently the dynamic layers have been increased but how to use them is a mystery.

Such a top rate app with such a sad stumbling block.

### 5/5 — Feature request

*2021-11-26, version 3.21*

Hi I absolutely love the app the only thing I am missing is the ability to select all the midi patterns at once or multiple ones at that and export them all at once but separated files for each pattern. Could this be a feature? Thank you for your time.

### 5/5 — It’s amazing

*2021-11-18, version 3.21*

Apps is perfect and also pro level…..I love to use this apps…I want more videos about tutorial and also much more drum pattern and also new upgrades with new surprises.

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2020-09-30, version 3.1*

I play Brazilian music on the guitar and this app is simply amazing!
Lots and lots of beats in 3 Brazilian packages...supported by an amazingly natural drumming engine...I control the changes of patterns in live through a midi pedal hooked to my iPad.
In brief...A dream for serious musicians.
