### 4/5 — Good but not intuitive

*2022-12-04, version 5.60*

packed with features, but takes time to get the hang of it. Looking forward to step-by-step tutorial on the website.

### 4/5 — Would have been great

*2022-05-08, version 5.32.4*

Interface and features work great. My one and only issue is that is doesn’t have a music player! Now I’ll have to search for another that does.
I did find one but didn’t operate as nicely as this app. Hopefully we get an update

### 3/5 — Missing some FPS options

*2021-10-09*

No 23.98, 24, 29.97, etc…..

### 3/5 — Loses connection to iPhone every time

*2020-06-25*

I can’t get my iPad Pro to stay connected to my iPhone 11 when I try to remotely control the prompter. When it does finally connect the play button is very sticky and the speed control is unpredictable and unstable.

### 4/5 — Good product

*2019-05-01*

Good product.

**Developer response:** Thank you, I appreciate.
Take into consideration that now you can report bugs or suggest new features online at www.dslrciak.it/customercare/.

### 4/5 — Works well, needs a few tweaks.

*2019-04-27, version 3.0*

I used this app for the first time today on a shoot and it saved me heaps of time and grief. The app functioned just as described. The export of the log made editing very easy.

It would be good if the app remembered the export email address, and the client between sessions. It may also be better to have fields for day, scene, shot and take for the recording of progress through the filming shoot.

I would recommend this app to other users, and the price can’t be beaten!

Version 3.0 update:
The app no longer advances the time once the app is open (major bug)! Still does not remember client and production between sessions, lowering usability. Needs to remember other settings like angle between sessions. Still needs to have a field order option to include the “shot”, i.e. day, scene, shot, take.
THE DEVELOPER NEEDS A BUG AND FEATURE REQUEST REPORTING PROCESS!

### 5/5 — The Best of Clapperboards!

*2019-04-12*

Among all the other apps I found and used this seems to be the best one. You can add every detail you want. The log is the best part and what really made it far more useful than the similar apps. The only problem I have is when I click on the send button and it suddenly snaps and stops running. But over all it's good news for director assistants, you need no more heavy boards and notepads!
Please make one for android too. IOS does not work well in our country :))

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for you review! I'll consider developing the app for android as well... I'd like to see it come to life: maybe later this year.
If you have issues (like the mail one) or have suggestions or bugs (!) please write to customercare@dslrciak.it. I'll be glad to answer and, if possible, to help.

### 5/5 — Good for making films when you don’t have a clapper board

*2018-06-27*

This app was originally broken for 12 inch iPads, but it was fixed so I am rewriting this review. This app is great for when you have an iPad instead of a clapperboard. The app has options for various counters for the things included in the film, for example, you can "tell" the camera where it was recorded, camera FPS, how many mics are being used, and many more. You can also store the cuts in this apps logs and email them conveniently.

Overall, this is a great app for anyone making a film.

**Developer response:** Thanks for rewriting your review! New features will be available soon. The most relevant of which will be the integration of a teleprompter, synched with the timecode of the clapperboard. I'm working on it right now and hope to deliver it by the end of september.

### 4/5 — Great app compared to other options!

*2018-06-21*

This has everything you need in a clapperboard and the shot log can be E-mailed. The only shortcoming is that it looks like the video field doesn't update on the Clapper display if you edit the options like with the other user editable fields. Not a deal breaker for me, but once that's addressed, this is a 5 Star app. Thanks for making this.

**Developer response:** Wow! It sounds like you found a bug!!! And now I'm going to squash it ;)
Thanks so much, both for the comment and for finding out the issue (I never edit the 'video' item so I didn't realize it!).
I'd like to hear more from you users: I'm going to publish an email address to let you send me suggestions and bug reports.
Thanks again!

### 1/5 — Not a movie slate

*2024-06-26*

It’s OK. You cannot customize anything without paying for it. If you want to use it for movies you’ll have to pay, otherwise it doesn’t make sense to use.

**Developer response:** Yes, exactly: it’s a professional tool and you have to pay to use the advanced features (the slate is free)! I don’t know how much you expected to pay for a professional tool, but here the deal is no more than 10 dollars…
Anyway I’ll be glad to reply to your feedback at customercare@dslrciak.it.

### 1/5 — Great layout but crashes

*2022-11-08*

When I save a customized template design for the slate and then try to select it for use, the app crashes and closes. I’m only allowed to choose the preset templates. I purchased the full version, I would hate to think I wasted my money.

**Developer response:** Hi, yes it was a known bug but it's been fixed in version 5.54. Now it's working regularly.
Sorry for that and thank you for your report.
If you want to get in touch, please write me at customercare@dslrciak.it.

### 1/5 — No audio for slate

*2022-10-26*

There is currently no audio for the slate that I’m getting.

**Developer response:** Hi, the audio is there: you have to activate it on your device (not the volume, the audio itself!). To do that, swipe down from the top-right corner and verify that the little bell icon is active.
If it doesn’t fix the issue, pelase write me at customercare@dslrciak.it. I’m here to help!
(But if it works, would you please revise your evaluation? Thank you!!!)

### 1/5 — Won’t connect to iPad

*2020-05-28*

No matter what I do, it won’t connect to the iPad app. It won’t see it, search it, or find it. I sort of need this for the teleprompter, that’s why I bought it. Do I have to buy the premium version on the iPad as well in order to get it to work?

**Developer response:** Hi, may I have some more details about your issue? please, feel free to write to customercare@dslrciak.it. Thank you!

### 2/5 — Crashy

*2024-12-08*

App keeps crashing while using in combo with an ipad as the prompter and a iPhone as the player. I made sure to follow the directions to disconnect the wifi and enable airplay. Didn’t help.

### 2/5 — Why a horrible pixelated digital clock?

*2024-02-21, version 5.63*

Why on earth is the only option for the clock this horrible, hard to read, blocky digital clock. Why not offer some cleaner, easier to read options under settings?

### 2/5 — Glitchy

*2023-11-30*

While on the storyboard page, the screen randomly animates upward leaving only the bottom half of the app visible and the lower half of the screen black with no way to set it right other than to close the app and reopen it only for it to happen again.

### 2/5 — App keeps shutting down since I paid for it

*2020-07-04*

App now keeps shutting down every since I paid for it when I try to use the digital clapboard. Please fix and I’d be happy to rate higher.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your post. The timecode feature relies on the actual time of the day, but I'll be glad to add a reset button to meet your needs!
If you have any other suggestions or bug reports, please don't hesitate to write to customercare@dslrciak.it.

### 3/5 — Found a bug.

*2022-11-04*

I love the ability to customize the slate to my needs. However, after creating a custom slate the app won’t let me load it for a new project. I can see the list of saved slates but it will not load it. Additionally, after trying to load a saved slate and failing if I then go to load one of the built-in templates the app crashes. It is highly repeatable… it happens every time. If I go straight to the templates it allows me to load them but not after trying to load a built-in one.

I am using an iPad Air 4 on iOS 15.7.1.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your report. It was a bug, actually... Now it's been fixed (in version 5.54). If you still want to report a bug or suggest a new feature (or just tell a joke), please get in touch at customercare@dslrciak.it.

### 3/5 — not good with a notch

*2022-06-16*

doesn’t take into account the notch safe area on my 12 Pro

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your comment. Can you explain better the issue you encountered? Write me at customercare@dslrciak.it.
Thank you!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Feature rich, elegant UI, ease of use. Amazing value.

*2023-12-12, version 5.63*

Update:
The iPad version allows for making code markers during the recording which is v helpful.
The iPhone version does not.

For podcast recording I like to use my iPhone as the clapper board.
But the neat time code feature doesn’t appear to be included.

Am I missing something?

It’s still an awesome app.

Every now and then an App takes my breath away, not often, but just enough to maintain my faith. This digital clapper board has plainly been developed by a person who understands the triumvirate of videography, technology and user interface design. The details demonstrate this is a master craftsmen at work. - customizing the clapper board info - changing tones - writing scene notes - using the phone as a slave or master making this an autocue device - and the downloadable story board template .png which is then reimported once modified. Genius. [note to developer - it would be neat to be able to reorder scenes once imported. ] I like this so much I’ve added it to my Home Screen. Dev - One more neat feature would be for this to run on the iMac desktop [i tried] then it could be used for screen recordings too.] I did try other Digi boards. The in app ads will drive you nuts. If you value what you’re filming, invest in this app.

### 5/5 — Dslr ciak is cool

*2023-11-24*

I like this dslr clapperboard it is awesome

### 5/5 — Huge Potential

*2023-01-08, version 5.60*

What a fantastic and versatile app. I have purchased the paid app and is well worth it.

I think I can adapt my current workflow to use this app help with sync and cataloging whilst I really have no justification to spend out on timecoding hardware so this will save a fortune.

There’s a lot more to explore which makes this a great investment and my understanding is that there’s some really interesting stuff in the pipeline from the developer who is keen to optimise this into a powerhouse for film makers and videographers.

Can’t wait to see what they do with an already top notch product.

### 5/5 — The money was worth my time

*2022-12-12, version 5.60*

l was hired for a small project as an editor and made the split second decision to purchase the full version just before the first take. I stuck around while filming and used it wherever I could. It made my post production workflow so much easier. I wasn't even using it to it's full potential and still got so much use out of it. Just rating the scenes after the take and knowing which one was the best one is invaluable and saves so much time - can't wait to see the app get even better with time.

### 5/5 — One of my most-used tools on set

*2022-04-16*

Apparently this only has 11 reviews right now?!
That’s wild. This app is absolutely invaluable, and has smoothed out the process of directing, coordinating camera ops, and helping the editor out more than any other tool I’ve ever found, app or otherwise.

The fact that it turns into a color chart after the clapper hits is genius; and the ability to send an email with all of the takes marked as good or bad, timecode information, and more embedded right into the email is just unparalleled for getting the info right to the editor immediately and makes communication between departments a breeze.
This and frame.io are the best things you can possibly get for your workflow and turnaround time. Seriously.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much!
If you have any advice on how to improve the app write me at customercare@dslrciak.it.

### 5/5 — Seems like a great app

*2021-10-08*

However it is limited unless you purchase. However there is no apparent way to purchase or what it cost.

### 5/5 — One of my fav apps

*2020-08-24*

This app is worth it. Teleprompter, Schedule, Storyboard and Clapboard. More than I thought I would ever need for iPad and iPhone. Wow, thanks.

**Developer response:** Hi and thank you for your review.
It's not a bug, really: the point is that you have to configure at least one email account on the iPad for the log system to work properly (the best way is to install Apple Mail and set it up). I'll add a note in the next version to point out this requirement.
If you have any suggestion please write to customercare@dslrciak.it.

### 5/5 — I cannot overstate how brilliant this is

*2019-06-06, version 3.2*

I bought this to use as a clapper but it’s so much more: it’s the best teleprompter I’ve used (and keeps storyboards too).
When you shoot, you can mark takes and make notes on them, but also add notes throughout the take to remind yourself of small moments you’d like to use in an otherwise poor take etc.

The reports are just incredible. After each shoot you can email yourself the report which tells you exactly what parts of each TelePrompTer script were read and when, and what you thought of them. It’ll also include the storyboard shot which goes with each take, too. It’s the most perfect on-set tool to speed up editing which I’ve ever used.

But the feature above all which makes this app stand head and shoulders above all others, is the developer. They’re so responsive and innovative that they can solve any queries you may have and in my case, they even implemented changes I suggested overnight!

It earned its money back within a few minutes on the first shoot I used it on and it’s quickly becoming indispensable.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2019-06-04, version 3.2*

For anyone involved in video production, this is a great Clapperboard. It has all the features to keep track of the necessary aspects of producing a short video, or major production. It even includes a Prompter and Storyboard feature built in! Love it!

### 5/5 — Great app, great support!

*2019-05-06*

This app is simple yet robust enough for use in real world applications. I used it on a shoot where somehow nobody had a clapperboard. This has been my go-to ever since.

The support was amazing, too! Fixed my issue right away even though it was 100% my own fault!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your kind words!
For what concerns your issue, thank you for reporting: even if it's not directly related to the app, I will report it on the website and in the help view to highlight it.

New features there to come (one above all: full customization of the clapboard).
And if you want to advance new features, please go to www.dslrciak.it/customercare/. I'll take into consideration any suggestion :)
