Duelyst is such an incredible game mixing tcg strategy with the tactics of a board. The pixel art is gorgeous and evocative with unique factions and units that just beg to be played. Blitz is a fun rendition that ports well to mobile and offers quick and snappy games.
Unfortunately the monetization is somehow way worse than the original which makes a game that was never all that popular even harder to get into… how hard would it be to make packs actually worth buying, even the gold price is higher than it used to be! Feels pretty annoying coming from an almost full collection back in the day.

For those who don’t know, most of the assets used are from a now defunct CCG called Duelyst, which had the promise of a mobile port since its inception, but devs never seemed able to figure out mobile optimization.

I can say with confidence that this mobile version of duelyst is optimized, functional, and doesn’t overheat my phone like crazy when playing like previous attempts of a mobile duelyst.

Currently, there have been bugs, such as being logged out frequently, and the economy of the game is very incredibly expensive for f2p (though the basic set has the right tools for decent decks if you look closely).

4 stars.

I’m so happy I can play this on mobile nowadays. It’s peak card battler with an emphasis on positioning and counters.

This game is near perfect, with the only fallback being the small playerbase. The strategy of deck building, combined with playing those characters on a board is unique and delicious. 

Backed by great pixel art as well
